Back To The Beginning - Nymph - Feb 02 2023
Surely, it shouldn't be too hard to find the place where they had hatched? Yet, Nymph was struggling. They weren't giving up, of course.
After all, Nymph had promised to help.
Good gembounds kept their promises, and Nymph was determined to be very good.
So though their sense of direction was somewhat lacking, they kept up their search.

There was a bird with a green throat gem circling around, looking very lost in a way that the non-speaking beings never did. It took a long moment for Cadenza to notice this, for the bird was very very tiny compared to them.
But when they did notice, they could not help but feel concerned.
"Is everything alright?" The Deer-Dragon Hybrid inquired with genuine worry to their musical tone. "I can help you if you need help!" They were quick to add, in an attempt at preemptive reassurance.

The little cockatiel's wings faltered somewhat in the air, sending their movement somewhat askew, and they turned to the creature that had spoke. They were huge, Was the primary thought in the bird's mind. Truly, the newly hatched bird was absolutely miniscule in comparision.
But it did not occur to Nymph to be scared. Instead, the little bird simply felt awe looking upon this large winged and antlered being. Their wings were different, featherless, but there was no doubt that this being had wings. Like the Tailor, this being was beautiful. While both beings looked different over all, they both shared lyrical voices that Nymph couldn't help but admire.
Lost in their awe, the cockatiel almost missed the question. But the word help caught their attention, as it always did.
"Yes, help! Nymph needs to help the Tailor! Mimosa needs supplies! Nymph promised, and Nymph was going to find where they hatched... But Nymph can't remember exactly where that was. It wasn't that big, but it had Peridot! Like the stone on Nymph's throat!
One more time, Nymph looked around for their hatch site on their own, sweeping in circles through the air. Once more, they were unsuccessful.
"Nymph could probably use some help... The bird admitted.

Cadenza wondered if perhaps this bird was not a speaking being when they were quiet for a long moment, but they had reacted to the deer-dragon's voice... And then they spoke, and Cadenza felt their heart metaphorically melt.
This little bird, this Nymph, seemed to be a child, and a very kind one at that, to be focused on helping others as they were. Cadenza was not entirely certain what a tailor was, though they had a vague impression of the word in their mind as one who created. One who created would need supplies and gems were indeed pretty. "I will try my best to help, Nymph. My name is Cadenza."
It was hard for Cadenza to see the little bird's gem, tiny as they were and gem tinier still, but they eyed it nevertheless. Then they swung their head around, searching for a hatch site made of the same gemstone.
Sure enough, there was a nearby hatch site of Peridot that Cadenza could easily see with their different perspective of the world. "Is that your hatch site, Nymph?" They nodded towards the direction of the Peridot hatch site.

"Cadenza's pretty!" Chirped the little cockatiel. The bird meant to say the name was a pretty one, but their phrasing skills were somewhat lacking at their age. And, anyway, Nymph did think that Cadenza was pretty in all the ways that they knew one could be.
It wasn't long before Cadenza was pointing out a direction, and Nymph perked up. "Yes! That hatch site is Nymph's!" The bird exclaimed, thrilled, and flew over to grab Peridot shards in their feet.
Before grabbing some pieces in their mouth, Nymph turned back towards the awe-some being. "Cadenza is kind! Nymph thanks you!" Then the bird picked up Peridot in their beak, and off they flew, determined to help the Tailor as soon as possible.

The bird-child thought they were pretty? Cadenza was startled somewhat, having never thought much of their own appearance in either a positive or negative way. They were what they were, and that would never change, so why would concerns of beauty matter?
Still, it was a sweet statement. "Thank you for saying so, Nymph."
When the deer-dragon hybrid went to respond to the gratitude, it was too late. The little one had already fluttered off. Cadenza could have flown after them, of course. But Nymph was clearly on a mission, focused as they were. Cadenza would not interrupt that.
Perhaps they would see the little bird again one day. They hoped so. The young one had been rather sweet. Absentmindedly they wondered what it would be like to have a child of their own as they went back to their exploring.
