fishbowl - Pudge - Feb 26 2023

...He wasn't sure what happened. One minute he was close to the edge of the laggon, playing with the bubbles resting on the surface of the water, the next, the water around him was surging. Something had splashed into the water next to him. All he'd seen was a flash of blue-green before he was being flung out of the lagoon with a spray of water. He let out a small cry of shock before he hit the ground with a tiny splat. He was still for a moment, still processing, before he realized he wasn't in the water anymore.

Panic took him over and he flopped around helplessly, desperately trying to get back to the lagoon before he suffocated. For a few moments, there was the tiny plat plat plat of a very small fish throwing himself around a small puddle before a splash as he finally tumbled over the edge of the rock and back into water.

He took a deep breath, oxygen coursing through his body once again and sighed with relief, but then he realized that he wasn't in the lagoon - no, he had found his way into a small pool of water. Big enough to swim around, but not connected anywhere else. He was alone in the pool as well - no source of food or entertainment in sight.

Oh, no.

Immediately realizing how trapped he was, he swam to the surface and stuck his little head out of the pool. "Hello?" he squeaked as loud as his voice would go. "Is anyone there?! Please help me!"

RE: fishbowl - Bebby - Feb 26 2023

Bebby didn't often have much reason to visit pisces, aside from occasionally finding moss for Forgraves, which she's doing now. it's kinda pretty, but also suuuper dull. If it weren't for the tiny voice from somewhere close by, she would've left.

"HELLO!?" she calls back, half screeching. "I'M COMING, HOLD ON!!"

She follows the direction of the noise, looking around, occasionally splashing into some of the puddels by the lagoon. eventually, however, she's close enough to know the sounds atleast coming from... maybe in the deeper puddles?? shes not sure. is someone DROWNING???

she looks in all the ones she's close to in that direction, and FINALLY finds one with a little goldfish in it. She stares for a sec, since he doesn't look like any of the lesser fish, trying to figure out if he's the source of the sound, but notices the tiny blue scale and smiles, all teeth.

"HI!! omg omg are you okay??? what happened!!" she mewed, circling the little pool. "Did you get stuck??"

She looked deeper into the pool and, for a moment, sticks her head directly in, seemingly observing the pool and not her new fishy friend. she nods and, seemingly satsified with what she finds, pulls her head back out and shakes the water off. "How did you get in there???"

He noticed the stranger approach pretty much immediately - how could he not when she was bright and rainbow and...yeah, the rainbow gave her away. She didn't notice him at first, though, so he splashed his fins around a bit to try and direct her attention. "Over here!"

Once she'd finally noticed him he sighed with relief. He was saved! How lucky he was that someone was around, definitely not due to any outside forces, none at all. He was about to say something when she suddenly stuck her entire face in the puddle. He squeaked with surprise and swam back, a little taken aback, but as soon as she lifted her head back out, he followed, poking his head and mouth from the water so she could hear him.

"Hi! Thanks for coming! Yes, there was someone that jumped in the water! It made a huge splash that tossed me out of the lagoon! I was just playing with bubbles, but they didn't see me. Can you maybe...put me back? I can't really make it over there on my own!"

She nodded, "yeah yeah!! hold on, let me find something to scoop you out!!! we'll get ya safe and sound!" she mews, padding back off again to look for something to scoop with, like a bowl shaped rock or a big leaf.

she fumbled around, and she couldn't find more than moss and grass as far as plants go, BUT it didnt take too long to find a decent sized rock with a bit of a spoonlike indent in it. something something water erosion. it'll work!

she picked it up in her jaws and ran back over, sticking the rock into the puddle, careful not to hit pudge with it, and scooped him up.

"i gtchu!!" she said, muffled, padding over to the river and dumping him back in.

"there!! is that better?" she asked, smiling with all teeth.

He waited patiently, absentmindly making little bubbles that popped on the surface of the water, and as soon as the sparkly-thing returned, he swam back a bit to give her space with the rock she'd found. Oh, that was clever! He could see the little indent as she set it into the water and he quickly swam over the side of the rock and into the indent.

For a moment he was in the air and most of the water fell away from him. He fell onto rock, like his wings had been clipped, unable to move, unable to breath, feeling scared again as he always did in the wild air, and then he was slipping back into cold, cold water.

He was still for just a second, his body momentarily shocked, but then he swam forward and his joy burst forward. He zoomed in a few circles, happy to be back in the lagoon again and then darted back to the surface.

"Thank you, oh thank you!" he cried. As a little thank you (all he could do, really), he opened his tiny mouth and formed a few little bubbles that floated up and bobbed around in the air above him. Like celebratory balloons, although Pudge does not know what balloons are. Pudge is a fish.

But his new friend was reflecting through the bubbles now, all colors and sparkles and - wow! "You are really pretty and bright!" he pointed out. "Sparkly!"
