two people who really should not meet meet anyway - Peach Scone - May 31 2023

Awakening from their long slumber, Peach Scone had heard whispers.

That there was a cat in Polaris, seeking someone who bore the magic of Energy--like her, and that deer-dragon creature. She was seeking someone to sire a stone she'd found--and she was offering another, more powerful stone in exchange.

It's never been to Polaris. It's bright and unfamiliar. But sure enough, sitting by the river, Peach Scone finds a cat, ears pricked in anticipation.

"Hello," Peach Scone says quietly, a fair few paces away just so it doesn't startle her. "Are you the one seeking someone with Energy?"

RE: two people who really should not meet meet anyway - Mossie - May 31 2023

Mossie honest to god hadn't expected anyone to respond. She knew that bearers of Energy were one of the rarest mages in the caves, for good reason--it was rumored that less experienced Energy users had a nasty habit of blowing themselves up.

But her child would be born ready for the greatest of challenges. Their soul already carried mighty magic. They'd be a fantastic asset.

Which is why it was very good that someone had showed up.

"Yes, I am," she said. "I'm Mossie! Pleasure to meet you."

Peach Scone nods impatiently. The utter tediousness of introductions.

"I see, I see," she says. "I'm Peach Scone." Her eyes are drawn towards Mossie's chest fluff, where it can see little glints peeking out. They flick their cerata, trying to stop themself from drooling.

"You have the...?"

Mossie blinks, a tad startled by her forwardness. There's a strange hunger in her eyes that sends a prickle up her spine. "Huh? Oh, yeah, I do, just gimme a mo-"

She digs into her fluff, muttering to herself as she retrieves 2 stones--one, a nondescript tourmaline, and the other a glittery opal. It's not nearly as wacky as it was when she first saw it.

She holds up the opal. "This is the stone I need help with." She shakes the tourmaline. "This is your reward."

Her tendrils grab at the tourmaline hungrily, absorbing it into her fleshy mass. "Thank you, thank you," she rasped.

If she'd been paying closer attention, she might've noticed the power radiating from it was far lesser than the opal. If she'd been paying closer attention, she might've realized that summoning up every possible scrap of energy to fertilize the opal was mayhaps a bad idea.

But in Peach Scone's defense, her brain kinda turns off in the presence of pretty pretty stones.

She touches a tendril to the opal, focusing on transferring the energy built up in her into the stone. She focuses a tad too much. Searing agony ripples through her, and she jerks back with a cry, but her tendril's stuck--it can't stop what it's started. The stone begins to glow, white-hot, and she lets out a screech--before finally the stone stops, and Peach Scone stops too.

She falls to the ground, chrysalizing. Girlfailure behavior.

Mossie stares in silence, whiskers quivering, as the weird horrific sea beast thing gobbles (?!?!??!?!?) the stone in one fell swoop, before touching a tendril to the opal and proceed to glare at it so hard she fell to the ground, convulsing, and...chrysalize.

Okay, a) what the fuck b) WHAT THE FUCK c) woah she's never seen the 'oof ouch do not die' part of chrysalization before!

The interaction is, as a whole, uncomfortable and disturbing. But whatever, she's got her rock Energized and that's all that matters.
