Good morning, sunshine - Howler - Aug 11 2023 Within the leafy greens of Lacerta, a wolf is born. Talons force the crystal to finish opening after a crack is made within, and afterwards a very slimy, pink and white, 4ft tall child falls out. Perhaps not the best look for survival, but Howler has yet to discover this. It opens two lightly glowing eyes to a new world yet to be discovered, and does not understand. Like most children. It does not stand, but wobblily repositions itself into a sitting position that will not disturb the dangerous spurs. What now? This place is loud, very new to the albino's ears, however Howlite is but a child and is unsure how to go about exploring this new place. @Alek RE: Good morning, sunshine - Alek - Aug 12 2023 Fornax was where Alek's gemstone had come from and he found himself loving it here. The water was perfect for swimming, and the temperature was nice too. It was to be expected, he supposed, that he enjoyed it so much here where his stone had been collected. It was an environment well-suited for him. Eventually, though, Alek figured it would be nice to rest on land for a little bit. And he had spied some interesting creatures on the volcanic island, and so that was where the dragon had went. It was nice being full-grown, he thought, not for the first time. Back when he had hatched, many lessers here might have tried to eat him. Now, he was a twenty foot long dragon not even including his tail, and he was not easy prey. Still, it never hurt to be careful, there might be dangers here that were more subtle. As he ventured into the leafy greens from the beaches he found a creature unlike anything he had ever seen. It did not look like the lessers of Lacerta, and judging from the broken chrysalis, it was a newly hatched greater gembound. It was odd looking, but in a way that made more sense to Alek who had grown up in the company of hybrids. But it also kind of reminded Alek of sickly animals. But, it had just hatched, so it probably wasn't sick. He was pretty sure about that, maybe. And then it occurred to Alek that they were a giant dragon and this was a newly hatched gembound and that... Might potentially spook this gembound. He laid down carefully, trying to make himself look less intimidating and a bit more flat, at least a little bit. And then he spoke. "Hi there," He greeted, his voice rather musical in a masculine kind of way as opposed to their parent's more androgynous voice. It was surprisingly calming in its notes, even coming from such a large carnivore. "I'm Alek. What's your name?" @Howler RE: Good morning, sunshine - Game Master Dark - Aug 12 2023 The soft, echoed whisper could have been anything. A rush of wind, a misplaced echo, a twist of magic. Its tone wasn't mysterious or esoteric, though. Nor was the clearing of throat that followed. "Ahem." (Cough.) "BEHOLD!" A flare of trumpets blasted through Fornax, reverberating loudly across the island, shaking the leaves of the trees and bringing the heads of the Sailfins whipping up and around. Loud, blaring songs came in response, and a soft "Ugh," could be heard at this interruption. "...A CHILD! -OF SOME SORT! BORN INNNN-" There was an explosion of fireworks every which way: near-silent, but raining sparkling colors down all around from the sky. A cluster of Skimmers turned and broke, flapping frantically away. "CYYYYCLEEEEE ONE HUNDREEEED! Congratulations on your sort staying alive this long. Uh." There was a pause, and the sound of someone, or something, scraping around or rummaging. "Here, have a gift." A single, battered party blower--the rolled paper sort of thing one blowed into to unfurl it--flopped to the ground beside the newborn werewolf. It was brightly colored, but it had come seemingly from nowhere, and looked like it'd been used a lot. "Have a nice life, kid!" And then the voice was gone. @Alek RE: Good morning, sunshine - Howler - Aug 18 2023 Howler did not notice the dragon until he approached. A scary thing, taller than the very, very large child itself. Though, Howler does notice, he does not seem dangerous. At least, if Howler could understand what danger is, exactly. He can't. So he'll just have to rely on his very underdeveloped instincts. The spell Alek used seemed to work, and thus Howler's stance became far less defensive. Calm, not worried about the stranger getting closer and closer. "Hello! I am Howler" More talkative due to the spell than he would be otherwise, Howler gives quite the introduction. Their tail wags languidly side to side, betraying their relaxed feeling even more. At least, the slim bit of tail they have. If it wasn't for the spell, Howler would have jumped like a feline in the wake of a strange voice. There isn't anyone else here besides the two of them! Though perhaps Howler's curiosity would've got the better of him anyway. "Hello" It says to the area around them. Does it look that weird? Howler hasn't seen its reflection yet. Howler has no clue what the congratulations is for. This is the first time he's ever been awake. Right? As quick as the voice comes, it is gone. And Howler is left with more questions than answers. It picks up the strange thing that fell in front of it, and fiddles with it between sharp claw-fingers, careful to not damage it. "Who?" he questions, looking at Alek. |
