The sanctuary - Yew - May 09 2024

It's scary

Yew thinks, as she approaches the place she once called home.

The Kingdom is long gone now, has been for cycles on cycles - something that she's slowly come to accept. Except this time as the hybrid approaches, something is different. There is regrowth, difference, that odd white fungus she spotted on the way here nowhere to be seen.

It must be dangerous.

Yew will not be touching it if she sees it again.

Yew moves slowly, tries to not think too hard about why the tree was gone and destroyed. Yew has not tried to fix it - it wasn't her tree to fix. Not cultivated by Yew herself, she felt it would be a waste if she tried to put work into it without the power to do such things easily. This time though, as her gaze lifts to the Great Tree, it's different. It's whole. It is not as it was left.

Beautiful rings of gemstone coarse through the tree like veins giving off an aura of majesty the tree has always had but more. Lesser gembound call and sit within the area as if there isn't any danger outside. Like there is no risk of being hunted. It makes her waver. This is not the gravesite of everything she's belonged to anymore. It's new, it's refined. Someone's done something to the tree to make it better. Putting gemstones in doesn't seem like something a normal gembound could do, but Yew has seen many things.

Who did this?
