A Gift For A Blacksmith - Yanyue - May 18 2024 [Item Reference: /showthread.php?tid=11760&pid=105616#pid105616] The clear weather had kept Yanyue bouncy on their way there. They had even attempted their weak flight at one point. It had worked, much to their cheery delight. They laughed and danced in the air as they carried the bag they had found. It wasn't too heavy, but it still weighed them down some, so they had to fly close to the ground. Eventually that faded, and Yanyue was back to walking, just as the sky began to grow a bit cloudy. Not much, but enough for an introspective mood along with a slight greying of Yanyue's scales. They got to the Workshop eventually, eagerly entering. "Blacksmith, I am here with a gift, if I am welcome for tea," the young dragon proclaimed gently. "I was at the magical portal in the crystal cave... And I got this bag, but, the gift is what's inside. I hope it's alright if I keep the bag?" they continued. "I know you do metalwork, and that you like to repair things anew... So I thought this would be a perfect gift for you, if you are interested, that is..." they opened the drawstring bag to reveal the metal shards that once formed a sword, though they did not know that precisely, only that it was broken. It had beautiful markings to the metal, as if it was either ceremonial or for a high-ranking commander. Quite the gift, if it had not been broken. "Do you like it?" Yanyue asked, willing to dump out the shards wherever the Blacksmith wanted if the other agreed. "I don't have a use for it, but... I hope you find it worthy of your interest. It looks like whatever it was once was quite pretty," they added. RE: A Gift For A Blacksmith - Game Master Dark - May 18 2024 The Blacksmith looked up from his work. He had a number of old chains of jewelry set out; he was going over them, splitting them into different piles. At the sound of Yanyue's voice he set them aside, shuffling out to meet them.
"Of course. Would you like... the same variety? Or something... new?" But as he saw the sword, he went quite still. After a moment he reached out, reverently, and took the shards, cradling them in the bag. "Of course-... a moment." He carried them to the table with the jewelry and swept it all aside, as though his work were meaningless in the face of this beautiful shattered blade. His voice was touched with awe as he spoke, though he was careful to hand the bag back to Yanyue. "This is not from the caves, no... This is..." (He flicked the metal, then gave it a cautious tap with a nearby hammer.) "...Surface steel. Strong... ornamental. This is... a beautiful blade. Or-... it was. It will be, again," he reassured Yanyue. "I will need a new hilt... but this was a work of art, once. It is... a great gift. Thank you." @Yanyue (let me know if you need one more post or nah!) RE: A Gift For A Blacksmith - Yanyue - May 18 2024 "For the tea, I'd like to try something new," Yanyue told the Blacksmith, easygoing. They had made it a goal to try as many teas as possible with the Blacksmith. So far, there had only been a few visits, but they would get there eventually, they were sure. Yanyue was still young, after all. "You are welcome," Yanyue beamed at the Blacksmith's gratitude. So, they had indeed found a good gift. They were glad. They were happy to accept the drawstring bag back, keeping it close. "Not from the caves..." they repeated, thinking about that truly for the first time. It was from a magical portal, of course, but it had come from somewhere. Then another word was mentioned. "May I ask what the surface is?" the young dragon politely inquired. "Perhaps you could tell me about it while you drink tea? If it's not too much trouble," they added, thoughtful and curious in equal measure. RE: A Gift For A Blacksmith - Game Master Dark - May 18 2024 "We are deep below... the ground, here. On the top is... another world. The surface world. Come-... I will tell you of... the sky."
@Yanyue RE: A Gift For A Blacksmith - Yanyue - May 18 2024 The stories awed Yanyue, whose eyes sparkled with amazement of the thought of air that went on forever, this so-called 'sky'. Clouds that rested in that air, instead of the tops of the caves, confined though they would never know it, similarly caught their attention. The sun and moon they imagined like the lights of the cave, but larger and more singular. All the while, Yanyue enjoyed their tea. Yet, a thought began to creep into their head. If there was a whole world up above, why were the gembounds in caves, confined? Their introspection reflected upon this. Surely, there was a reason... And though Yanyue pondered this all, they hated the idea of interrupting these lovely tales of the surface. For now, they had simply wished to simply give the Blacksmith a good gift, and they expected their question might ruin the atmosphere. Eventually, as the stories came to a close, Yanyue would say a pleasant goodbye, taking their bag with them. Their questions would wait for another time. [Exit Yanyue] |
