My Profane Form; My Evolution. - Arbitrator - Oct 03 2024

Time. What an insignificant, meaningless concept. How much of it had passed, to have transformed it in such a way? Little had changed in this one's life, save for its significantly increased size. It could fly now, and it did, three eyes trained on the ground for any glimpse of yellow, of that... creature. Purple eyes, red gem. Purple eyes, red gem. The Sinner had escaped while it had slept, regenerating in the chrysalis it had only just birthed from prior to their unfortunate meeting. It had awoken to nothing but the sight of bat bones, a reminder that it had not been a dream. A reminder that it was alive.

It had been different from others from the very start of its existence, a level of sentience uncommonly found in the hatchlings of the cave. Seraph had seen one or two milling about, the curiosity of youth being their only guide. Would it have been different, if not for the leopard?

It dwelled on the thought for less than a second, mentally discarding it as foolish. It had a purpose. A task to complete, a role to fill. It was searching. It remembered the blood on his snout. The barest hint of a smile. He did not regret. He did not feel guilt, sinking his fangs into its throat. He would repent.

A loud thump announced its arrival, cloven hooves clopping along the stone floor as it landed, launching right into a trot. Something was odd about this cave, its magic behaving like a tether to the Spire, a massive pillar nothing short of... eternal. It was alive, as much as it was. Its horns reflected purple in the blue light, and its eyes were lit aflame. I am above. I am clean. It declared with a steely glare at the offending rock. It could feel the call, a pull from the spire that threatened to consume it. And yet... It felt stronger, here. Empowered. Protected. It reached inward, calling forth the magic that seemed to swell in the room around it, stepping away so as not to harm the stone by accident. It responded effortlessly, shaking the earth around its hooves. Yes, I see You. It smiled, just a little.
