In the air tonight - Moonsetter - May 02 2025

Slowly the creature emerged, large body stalking out into the shadows, limbs groaning as they stretched and contorted, flexing off the hibernation it had just come out of. Emotionless eyes flicked around, wondering what had changed and what had remained the same. The room was quiet, dark and calm, without any loud talking, bright strobe lights, or extra creatures around, it was nice.

However one thing certainly caught his attention before anything else. Hunger. He supposed that after such a long hibernation.... how long had he been out exactly?.... one would require sustenance. And so, he began to search, his body moving swiftly through the area, remaining hidden within the shadows as best he could with how large he was.

It didn't take him long to find a cave deer, one passing through from one room to another, and he figured that was his best bet, he could find more later. And so, as he got closer, inching until he was almost within attack range, he would call upon his jolt of lightning to shock the creature, hoping to make it quick and easy for himself. But of course it didn't work, fizzling out and hitting the ground beside it. Of course he mentally blamed it on having just woken up, but now that meant he would have to put in more work as the creature began to bolt.

RE: In the air tonight - Veil - May 02 2025

It had watched the moonstone with fascination, a mirror of that star upon its own throat, and watched as it emerged. A second void, another sky full of stars. It was quiet, it simply watched, hidden in shadows for a while, intrigued and with something like excitement twitching through its tail, its head, its claws. It would watch, wait, and then it would learn.

Many eyes followed the dragon as he stalked prey and failed to catch. Perhaps disoriented - Veil understood. It had been like that too. Hibernation had been long, and to be awake again had initially been a nuisance, but now that the last of the sweet dreams and oblivion had been shaken...ah, Veil felt like a whole creature again. Perhaps this one needed time.

It did not wait any longer. It passed from the shadows, slinking quietly behind the moonstone dragon, head tilted to the side so its eyes could See. And what did it see?

Ah...a mirror. They were of a same mind, but something in this one made it think of compassion. It was unsure about this reading, but the Void was clear. The stars aligned and spoke of kindness. It would be kind in turn, then.

"The Void sees another Void," it hissed quietly as it approached. "They are of the same matter, light and dark both. What does the other Void see? What is its name? Why does it sleep?"

He paused for a moment, huffing in annoyance as he watched his prey bolt, mad at the creature for not dying when it should have. How dare it. That wasn't how this was supposed to go. Before he could even attempt to go after it though, another spoke from behind him and almost instantly he spun around, aiming to nip at the creature's nose (or whatever was closest) with a growl. How dare they sneak up on him, back away, he didn't like anyone in his space.

However the growl instantly seemed to vanish as he perked his ears up, looking at the other creature, their words finally processing. Yes, they were similar, so similar that Moonsetter found himself more curious than angry now and, despite the nip only seconds ago, was already moving closer, long neck outstretched to sniff and nose at the stranger, trying to understand. You like me, but not. Who you? He cocked his head to the side almost childlike, his words not far off either. He never spoke much, and when he did, it wasn't complete sentences Moonsetter. Sleep nice... warm.

RE: In the air tonight - Veil - May 09 2025

It happened quickly, and Veil reacted just as swift. It had not expected the large creature to suddenly turn around and nip at it - after all, the stars had whispered kindness to it. Biting was not kindness. It was a jerking, fast movement and it barely had time to react, but react it did, just in time. A force of energy blasted from its body just as the teeth were closing down on it. It felt the scrape of a sharp fang before it was being forced away from the Veil. At the same time, it skittered back, crouching defensively, ready to run.

But the moment seemed to have passed. A single moment of fright - it would have to approach more carefully in the future, then. Approach, but not too close. It was calming now, but the Veil still felt the adrenaline pumping into its system, something like flight singing in its veins. It should run, but it did not. The dragon calmed, so it would calm. But first - "Do not! Attack the Void! It only speaks. It apologizes for the fear it has caused."

A few breaths, measured. Steady. And then calm settled over it like a gentle wave. Still alert, but no longer defensive, ready to flee. It would flee if needed, but the moment was over.

"It is the Void. Veil. You are also the Void. Moonsetter. Is it afraid? It bites, without warning. Has someone hurt the Void before?"

He crumbled his nose at the feeling of bouncing off of an invisible field, licking his teeth slightly in confusion. What was that? Weird. He kinda wanted to test it again, maybe see if he could lick it..... but then his attention was pulled away as the creature, Void, spoke more. Which was probably a good thing, because no one wanted him trying to lick an invisible forcefield around you.

Veil. He repeated for a moment before cocking his head to the side questioningly. Hurt? He didn't think so. No hurt, but don't like startling, no surprises! He knew little but he knew he didn't like being surprised. It was an icky feeling and he found himself snorting and shaking his head at the thought. Gross.

Looking up at Void, he would lick his maw once before stepping closer again, having no regard for personal space now that he deemed Void's space as his own. You smell good, different. He would begin to sniff around the creature, very close and personal.
