BLACK SABBATH - Draconua - Jun 03 2025

Backdated to June 1st.
Because I got distracted by Woke Paths and Warframe
and therefore forgot about Draconua's babies.

Blanket content warning for Draconua's objectively bad parenting,
even by natural selection standards. And
gore
.

The previous week has seen the she-devil increasingly restless. Nesting. Broody.

Draconua has seen her precious seeds come to bud, and has seen to it that they swell ever larger, ever closer to that day that they will come to full bloom; has flooded her den with an endless drip-feed of Oil from both her own flesh and that of countless bleating Lessers dragged, broken-legged and mangled, from Pegasus and left to simmer and melt down into the boiling deluge.

Her bubbling pit is a feast, all for them— and their first test.

While their counterpart sleeps peacefully beyond the reach of His gifts (and undisturbed by her, no matter her temptations as she had passed it by) these whelplings will be born by Oil, forced to crawl from the boiling black to claim their right to exist at all; much less to accept the gift of her own flesh, scissored free from her own skin and left to SLAP! wetly onto the earth.

But, He must know that it is too soon to even dangle such a carrot before the unawakened's muzzles, for no mass of boiling flesh blooms where she would like it to; no graft of meat to upend from her throat.

Draconua paces around the mouth of the nest. No matter.

She can watch, and she can wait.

RE: BLACK SABBATH - Cavallys - Jun 03 2025

Cavallys is apparently the first of the two of them to hatch. Splatting on the floor in a wet blob of short fur and oil. At first, Cavallys doesn't feel much of anything. Just the sopping wetness of the chrysalis fluid and something... Warm.

It's not a good temperature for very long. Quickly the comfortable warmth turns into burning heat. It turns into fire, smoldering deep into its bones. The new life wails. Eventually, Cavallys realizes no help is coming.

After that, it opens its eyes. There is hot Oil surrounding her, Cavallys knows its time to get out.

Cavallys reaches with sharp claws, outward - ahead. As soon as she begins to claw her way out, she slides back down. The hot oil is too slick - IT BURNS.

"Hel-p! Help!" Baby's first word. An unfortunate one.

RE: BLACK SABBATH - Fenmyre - Jun 03 2025

Fenmyre was second, and she knew it - understood as she collided heavily with the bubbling ground that she was being left behind already. Something bitter seeped through the gaps in her teeth, something warmer, hot, hurting - was this blood? Was it hers?

No, it wasn't. Not exactly.

As much as her body already ached with the weight of existing, she rose above the hissing pool, inner mechanisms clicking to life for the first time. She heard something else, close and heavy, crying in pain - the wailing filled her head as soon as she noticed it, as if everything inside her had been waiting to make a noise just like it.

The cacophony stirred instinct. Run.

But she was no better than her sibling as her claws slipped. She found that this would be an uphill climb, a crawl from some horrid primordial bog to better places. The oil began to eat at her now, a sour smell creeping around their struggling bodies.

Fenmyre stayed quiet.

"This is speaking." This is thinking. This is corruption.

RE: BLACK SABBATH - Draconua - Jun 04 2025

The first crack! of stone to emerge from the pit sends ecstatic joy coursing through her form; sends her pacing into manic circling, tail-lashing. The second draws chittering laughter from within her gullet, and then her wonderful little creations begin to emerge from the tar—

Both slip, and both disappear back into that boiling vat of primordial sludge.

Something of the Sleepless Chaos's demeanor breaks, and she lurches forward into the pit. Not with the maternal urge to rescue a child as it bleats and cries out for help, but to snarl with her frenzied disappointment and snap her teeth on empty air; but, to draw closer to the whelpling that had called out and to sink her wicked teeth and fangs into its mind only.

"IF YOU WILL IT, YOU MIGHT ESCAPE," Draconua howls down at the both of them in the hole. The first to hatch is driven to try, try, try— "Rise! Wear your claws to nothing, if you must. From Oil you will come, and to Oil you will never return if you endure this. Struggle for your existence, and all else will be laughable. RISE AND YOU WILL MEET KINDNESS."

RE: BLACK SABBATH - Cavallys - Jun 04 2025

There is another in the depths with it, Cavallys realizes. The foal does not turn to look at this mysterious other - the sibling - and instead latches onto Draconua's appearance at the top of their bubbly demise. Something inside clicks into the mind of Cavallys, like someone else is in there.

Is that Mother? Or someone else? Cavallys isn't sure what anything is yet - still stuck within the bubbling mass with the Other. There's something inside coursing through her mind, chanting that it must get out. Not all confidence is lost with the force of the spell, causing Cavallys to reach out blindly once more.

This time, Cavallys must latch onto something as it pulls itself up and up some more until it slowly slides itself onto the dry rocks above. With a wet splat, Cavallys lays on the rock in front of Draconua, tired.

The oil is still stuck to its fur, blistering the skin underneath. Not a good time for a newborn, but at least it got out of the pool. "Why-yy?" It calls up to her. Hurt in its voice, Cavallys does not understand.

RE: BLACK SABBATH - Fenmyre - Jun 04 2025

Flesh and fur sizzled, beginning to dissolve, unmade -

Unborn.

The panicked squeals grew further and further. Was the first moving forward, or was Fenmyre being pulled back into his embrace, to end and begin and end again? Her mind was a centrifuge, animal fear and chaotic impulse split and screaming, all in different pitches, all in different voices.

One, finally, rose above the rest: Draconua's.

The Valkhound rose again from the boiling muck, crawling further and further. Her claws scraped against the dark rock, searching for any kind of purchase - the sound rang in her ear cavities, yet another kind of shriek. She would not be second, she would not be last. She would not be left behind.

As her forelimbs wrapped around the edge, preparing for the final push upward, Fenmyre felt something else brush against her knuckle - flesh. Body. Sibling. Competition.

Her talons sought to wrap around Cavally's rump and drag it back down into the pit, so that Fenmyre might take its place at its apex.

"This is speaking." This is thinking. This is corruption.

And with that encouragement does both of her spawn RISE from the mire. They rise, clawing with tooth-and-nail— one for the fear of being unmade, and the other for mere worry of being reduced to second place. Both of them are so beautiful, worthy of the Sleepless Chaos following through on her promise of kindness. Worthy of her motherhood.

One whelp sinks her claws into the other, wrenching herself forth from the sludge, pulling the other back, and Draconua meets the two of them in the middle with snarls and gently snapping teeth wrapping around their boiling, sizzling flesh; with salvation and hoisting them aloft for as long as it takes to drag them both away from the hole and into the dim unlight of His Spire.

She flops to the ground and drags either of them close, ungentle hands around their raw ankles and wrists so that they'll stay still for her running her tongue all over their tender, new flesh. Cleaning all the burning oil off of them and exposes their own true skin beneath, and Look, Creator. They are so, so beautiful. Perfect little mockeries of her own form, red-masked with crooked, grinning teeth. Dark eyes and shuddering flanks and terrible claws.

One even has the wonderful gall to question already. Such a vast improvement over the ilk that have plagued His womb. She did not miss that mewled question before this.

"Terrific little thing, 'why' was already answered," Draconua croons as the first part of her kindness is delivered, lifting her muzzle from their Oil-slicked forms. "Suffer and endure, and you will live for as long as He requires. For as long as you will it."

She stands, then, leaving the whelplings bare on the floor again. "You continue to question, and you will fathom the depths of true Chaos— No kneeling, no blinded, stumbling subservience to any whim. You will Forge only His Chaos, destroy Order, and serve only His will. Thrive, and you might one day look Him in a greater eye than this Blackened Spire."

Such big, nonsensical words for such small children. Surely, they can fathom such things. They were made for it.

"I have gifted you life, so that you might spread Chaos." Her head lowers, meeting her extended forearm and the writhing black mass metastasizing at its surface. "Now, I gift you mine own flesh. The last of my kindness before you rest."

Scissoring teeth wrest it from her own flesh, casting it down into a pile of scraps for the darling little wretches to gorge themselves upon if they so wish.

Or, if they are so commanded.

The end of her mask angles pointedly at the pulsing lump, then: "Eat."

RE: BLACK SABBATH - Cavallys - Jun 05 2025

Claws grip at Cavallys' form, dragging it down back near the hole of the Spire - to the burning depths below. It rears up one leg, preparing to kick its sibling back down - to make her work her way back up without the help. Except Draconua intercepts before that point, dragging Cavallys and Fenmyre in a lump to safety.

Before Cavallys can relax, though, it is held down. Instead of wailing, the foal chokes the sound down as it realizes Draconua is cleaning the burning oil away. It feels better - not perfect, but better enough for Cavallys to not get upset at being held down. The blistering under its skin still burns.

Cavallys watches, still, though on shaky legs as Mother speaks. The answer it got before is just said all over again - but the foal does not understand. Why must they suffer? It has just opened its eyes and wishes to close them all the same - to go back before the oil burned its flesh into the hardened crystal. There, it would not be clawed by its own blood. It would be safe. There would be no blisters under its skin.

Cavallys does not try to go back down. Down there, it is hot - down there means suffering it means failing to survive. Cavallys wants to survive. Mother wants it to survive. She'd called it terrific. It does not know the meaning of the word, but it sounded good.

Resting sounds good, too. Flesh... Not so much. The prospect of food makes Cavallys hunger, but watching the lump of flesh hit the floor almost makes it gag. Why would it want to eat part of its Mother? It is commanded, so it must.

RE: BLACK SABBATH - Fenmyre - Jun 05 2025

Some mix of instinct and immediate, paralysing fear kept Fenmyre from resisting the sudden tug of teeth at her scruff. She felt the vibrations of Draconua's vocal chords travel down her throat, out and through her smaller body, the crackling hum stilling her mind in the face of something greater.

She remained limp even as she was whisked roughly toward that greater power, back to an uncomfortably warm embrace after escaping the first. But Fenmyre did not question it - this was the kindness promised. This was to be her first lesson learned.

In her newfound safety, the infant allowed herself a small expression of the pain of her birth: A small, pitiful whimper as her mother's tongue scraped against injured skin, scrubbing it clean of residual rot.

And then she was gone, and Fenmyre was left mewling on cold stone. She stumbled to her feet, her hollow mask stretching up in a mimicry of a wondrous gaze upward at her mother, not yet secondary to her god. This, to Fenmyre, was more akin to an outstretched hand. She was reaching, yearning for another kindness spared.

It would come - just not in a shape either child had expected.

Perhaps blindness was a blessing, but Fenmyre was still given enough auditory information to guess at the source of the squirming, wet mass in front of them. She bit down any revulsion the more primitive, misguided parts of her attempted to surface - this was mother, and mother was kindness, and kindness was the bitterness of oil sliding down her gullet.

And she ate, her flank pressing against the first, the weaker. They would learn and grow together.

She would not leave its side.

"This is speaking." This is thinking. This is corruption.
