Your smile's like lines in the concrete - Vestyge - Jun 12 2025
It'd been a while since Vestyge's body had seen so much activity. It found its breath shorter, and its stomach empty quicker than he'd remembered. Maybe he'd never been that fit to begin with, spending most days within Canis. This job was already asking for a lot more than he was used to - maybe he should consider asking for a wage this time around. RE: Your smile's like lines in the concrete - Vestyge - Jun 12 2025
He followed the scent of a Tunnel Runner through the snow, trailing further from the path than he'd like. When he set eyes on the thing, his mood decreased further. It was a healthy specimen, and knowing their temperament, it would put up a fight. Vestyge was not any good in a fight (yet), and despite it being half his size, there was a possibility it could win. The Tunnel Runner, turned, and there - an odd green cluster growing from its leg. It was small, almost like an errant tuft of hair. Vestyge would've missed it if he hadn't been paying close attention. Good thing he had been. He could've missed out on his first good meal in thousands of years. Either it was the slope or just Vestyge's innate lack of grace, but the buck saw him coming as he stumbled downward and into the smaller animals sharp horns as it whirled to meet him - A little stupid on its part, sure, but it still had time to run after, right? Might as well give this idiot valkhound something to remember it by. RE: Your smile's like lines in the concrete - Vestyge - Jun 12 2025
Man. He was BAD at this. RE: Your smile's like lines in the concrete - Vestyge - Jun 12 2025
In the end, it was embracing that desperate, gnawing hunger that brought him closer to a successful hunt. He discarded practicality for pure pursuit, as if nothing mattered more than killing this stupid animal. If not for food, then for its sheer audacity. This post contains potentially sensitive material: proboscis :(
Finally, finally, finally, his many incisors sank and scissored through meat. The deer bleated in fear, only now seeming to confront the fact that the end was truly upon it. Or it would likely be, if Vestyge didn't find a way to fumble this further. @Audland (you are now free to bully the janitor) RE: Your smile's like lines in the concrete - Audland - Jul 06 2025 For Audland, in all his high school varsity jock bully mentality, this was like watching Wipe Out—or better. He watched from higher up in the tunnel, closer to Fornax and Pisces. Why, you ask, would this fluffy, lumbering hulk be lurking around a tunnel so far from Ursa? Well, I'll have to answer for him because Audland himself would probably just tell you to shut up and mind your own business (sweetheart). Sometimes a hard working baby Valkhound with little patience for his job wanted a vacation every once in a while. Cepehus is right next to Ursa, you say? A beach vacation. But it's too warm? Stop asking questions. Moving on: with Vestyge's every flop and fail in chasing a simple tunnel runner, Audland's delighted grin expanded. At first it had been only a silent smirk and watchful eyes, but as he watched the scene it had steadily evolved into a grin with an ever present muted chuckle, and a set of bright yellow eyes positively beaming with schadenfreude. Audland didn't want to give away his presence just yet, opting to keep the sound of his amusement low and remain just out of Vestyge's line of vision. Fortunately, it seems the focus of this "hunter" had proven to be an effective horse blinder. When Vestyge had finally won his game, Audland at last opened his mouth as though to speak—but then, the wet needle came sliding out of Vestyge's disturbingly parted jaws, and Audland was stunned back into a fascinated silence. Watching the organ pulsate would have made Auddie's brows raise, if that were a thing he could do. Instead, he opted for an expression similar to a dog's concerned side-eye: craning his head to the side and looking at Vestyge through his periphery. First Audland would shift his position to make himself comfortable, and then he would make himself known. "Well, well... what's all that about, stranger?" One fuzzy paw would limply gesture to Vestyge's proboscis, although from this distance it might seem to Vestyge like he meant the entire scene. @Vestyge RE: Your smile's like lines in the concrete - Vestyge - Jul 06 2025 The slurry of blood, soft tissue and Oil travelled slowly through his hollow tongue, down his throat - The most important part of the meal dissolving against the walls of his stomach. The rest of it would go the normal way. @Audland |
