[WRESTLING] Gravedigger vs. Vesuvianite T-One - Gravedigger - Jul 08 2025

All your dreams are down below
the gravedigger

The Gravedigger lumbered into the forum, excitement bringing heat to its step, the glow in its jaws and eyes seeming all the brighter for it. Long enough it had felt dormant, staying in Draco and wasting away to the same old spars with the same old valkhounds. Being able to leave...that was exciting.

It reminded itself that it could not fully erupt here. A full release of itself meant death, destruction, and very severe physical harm. It didn't want that, nor was that allowed in this situation. It didn't have much issue, though. It didn't really want to hurt anyone. This was just another fun spar, just with a new face.

The valkhound waited in the middle of the forum for its opponent, grinning and rumbling with joy. "Fight! I am ready for a FIGHT! Are you ready? Are you excited?"

RE: [WRESTLING] Gravedigger vs. Vesuvianite T-One - Vesuvianite T-One - Jul 09 2025

Vesuvianite had stewed in anxious anticipation for days before the wrestling matches were even held. This whole thing was supposed to be low-stakes fun, and Tectus had been talking it up for some time, And hey, maybe if it REALLY liked fighting, that could be it's purpose, or whatever. It could defend the task force, or seek out their enemies, or something.

It's gaze flickered up into the stands, searching for where Tectus would be watching and judging them all. No pressure or anything, though!

And then its attention snapped back to its opponent- who looked jovial but also intimidating. Was that lava dripping from its jaws? The glowing orange drool certainly sizzled on the sand like lava. It's reply came after a prolonged beat of silence. "...Oh, yeah! I'm ready to fight!" It chirped, trying to match Gravedigger's enthusiasm but unable to ignore the anxiety bubbling in its gut. It would fidget for a moment more, waiting for a signal, or instruction, or something, before finally just biting the bullet and rushing forward.

But it balked at last moment, so its attempt at a headbutt was less reminiscent of a raging bull and more of an overly affectionate cat.
ROUND 1/5
ATTEMPT: Headbutt
DEFENSE: Scales on face/limbs
INJURIES: Nah

Delight gleamed in the Gravedigger's eyes as his opponent walked before him. Because they were someone NEW! He did not know their capabilities and that was kind of exciting. Large enough to be a good sparring partner and seemingly enthused enough to make a good fight!

Before the fight began, he gathered the saliva that had gathered in his mouth, turned, and spat out as much as he could, where it sizzled loudly on the ground. He clamped his jaws shut, intent on not letting any of that acid escape and harm his opponent. Not for this fight.

He psyched himself up for a moment, claws scraping against the ground as he waited for the vesuvianite to make the first move, and as soon as the other charged, so did he. They charged towards each other, heads lowered, and it was primed to be quite the crash of unstoppable forces, but...they both missed. The Gravedigger found his headbutt swinging wide and quickly found his legs tangling with the other as they both crashed into and around each other.

Its eyes would widen as Gravedigger spat out a huge glob of probably-maybe lava, feathers bristling until it realized that the 'attack' wasn't aimed at itself. Oh.

An anticlimactic clash left them both tangled in a heap. The Vesuvianite let out a startled yelp, flailing around aimlessly a bit as it tried to regain its bearings. It would flip around and place it's claws firmly on Gravedigger's shoulders as it tried to gain control over the situation.

ROUND 2/5
ATTEMPT: Grapple!
DEFENSE: Scales on face/limbs
INJURIES: Nah

The tangle of limbs and trying to regain footing left the Gravedigger more then a little disoriented, but a flash of movement alerted him - oh shit he needed to get up.

He at least got his legs firmly underneath him and just as the Vesuvianite was grabbing to get over him, Gravedigger reared his head back in an attempt to block his path to his back, or at least loosen his grip enough so that he wasn't fully at their mercy.

ATTEMPT: block with his Big Fucking Head

RE: [WRESTLING] Gravedigger vs. Vesuvianite T-One - Vesuvianite T-One - Jul 16 2025

Gravedigger butted its chin with the top of his head, eliciting an indignant "Hey!" and throwing its already-poor form off-balance. Already losing control of the situation (as though it had any control or idea what it was doing at all) the Vesuvianite would rear back onto it's hind legs, preparing to slam it's weight down onto Gravedigger while it still had the chance.

It would be a glancing blow, sliding off of Gravedigger's armored hide instead of slamming him into the dirt, but it would likely bruise all the same. And the Vesuvianite itself was now rather open for counter-attack.

ROUND 3/5
ATTEMPT: Slam!
DEFENSE: Scales on face/limbs
INJURIES: sore jaw :(

The mess of a fight felt like water slipping between the cracks between fingers, yet the Gravedigger continued scooping for it as if he could find a way to hold it firm without leaking. The rather clumsy body slam sent him reeling back a bit, but he wasn't crushed. It hurt, and it left him a little sore where the Vesuvianite had slammed down, but his gaze flicked over and he saw his opening.

The valkhound grunted as he grabbed onto the stone floor with his claws and used his body weight to swing his head, aiming to punch it right on his opponent's shoulder. He remembered some of the techniques he'd been taught, for keeping balance and putting his strength and weight behind blows. Someone had told him that his head was his best weapon - okay, then he would use it.

It squawked when Gravedigger headbutted it, "Oww!" It whined, before quickly regaining its composure. There was a whole crowd watching! Its mom was watching!! It had to look epic and cool as it beat this guy up (friendly-style, since this was still just a low-stakes competition)

It'd raise up it's non-bruised arm to smack Gravedigger right in the face. Unlike it's opponent, it had absolutely no prior training, only 'play-fights' with it's siblings and scuffles with the lessers it hunts for food. The Vesuvianite was operating entirely off of instinct, namely 'slap whatever's closest to you until they leave you alone.'

ROUND 4/5
ATTEMPT: Slap in the face
DEFENSE: Scales on face/limbs
INJURIES: sore jaw + bruised shoulder

It continued to be less of a "wrestling" match and more of an alligator-shaped boxing match. The face smack sent the Gravedigger reeling to the side, shaking out the momentary dizziness, but he quickly recovered, turning around the momenentum to charge forward. It was a bit of an awkward movement, more of a sidestep as he shoved forward with his shoulder to try and knock his opponent off-balance, or even fully knocked over.

...Was it winning? This didn't feel like winning, but it didn't feel like losing, either. It would look to the audience for guidance, before remembering that taking its eyes off its opponent was a bad idea.

Gravedigger shoulderchecked it, and even though Vesuvianite dug it's claws into the sandy area floor, it felt itself swiftly loosing balance. As it panicked, it opted to steal one of Gravedigger's previous moves. After all, they looked kinda similar, so wouldn't it ALSO work for it?

The haphazard swing of Vesuvianite's snout would smack Gravedigger right in his unarmored throat.

ROUND 5/5
ATTEMPT: Headbutt
DEFENSE: Scales on face/limbs
INJURIES: sore jaw + bruised shoulder
