[Post-Fungeon Item Trades] exchanging halloween candies - Audland - Aug 04 2025
[This thread is dated as close to after the end of the The Fungeon as we can get it, and is for any characters who went to that event to trade their items with others! Or to just have a drink and settle down.]
The trek back to the tavern is a bit of a long one, but the heaviest thing Audland had to haul was himself. The tavern was the natural place to go, seeing as this was where the idea for that god forsaken dungeon expedition had originated. Two figures in particular had been of note to Audland's journey: a large, rectangular... thing that had dropped a chalice and a box out of... somewhere, and a large, messed-up lizard thing that had given Audland some golden cuffs when Audland had asked about them.
This left a long of stuff in Audland's care. So many items, and he didn't really know what most of them did. He liked having them though. If he didn't shimmy too hard, he could store the small things in his thick fuzzy back mane. The larger or more awkward shaped items were held either under his arm or strung somewhere in his antlers. Useful!
He trudged his way into the tavern adorned in this fashion and gave the snazzy-suited bear bartender a nod. He didn't know anything about this place besides the fact that the dungeon had started here, and that if he wanted to see about trading items with anyone else from the dungeons, they would probably be here also.
Audland would go up to the bar to sniff at the drinks, which he would learn costed "money". The coins he'd been picking up passively during the dungeon. That felt like a strange concept—what good were little round shiny discs? Maybe they were like... tiny weapons. Maybe good for throwing at people if you had really good aim and small fingers. Anyways. Audland just so happened to have the measly two coins required for a delicious smelling pulpy fruit juice, which he then sat down to guzzle in about two seconds. It was tasty. Shiny discs well spent.
From his table in the tavern, Audland would hawk over anyone who he recognized from the dungeon or anyone who looked like they had items to trade (except for Menkheperre. Screw that guy.) He would set his own out on the table in front of him. Except I can't say what all of them are just yet because some of them are pending. Just know that the golden cuffs with Mind Reader are on the table so far, and Audland will openly ask about anything he sees on your character's person.
During any available downtime, Audland will be studying the box from the large rectangle beast, scanning over the ornate carvings of all the lizard-bird-like creatures native to Lacerta. Not that Audland knows about any of that. He assumes pretty quickly that the gemstones in each eye are from the lessers they are embedded in, which, if true, is a pretty and useful way of remembering which belongs to what. If they had any life left in them, people would probably want them. But first, Audland would lay claim to any of the ones he thought looked most interesting. He would also be interested in keeping the box itself, once all the gems were off of it. Maybe he would replace the eye gems with different ones, since the box would probably look a little empty without them.

This was just what he needed. A warm, enclosed space, full of people. Delicious stew to spend those strange, small trinkets on. And the opportunity to have productive interactions that benefited all parties involved.
But mostly the Bauxite.
His stomach had been stilled by the dense meal he'd ruthlessly devoured a few minutes before, so he was better inclined to bargain, rather than lead a fellow inn-goer to a second location. He did not need an invitation to the table. The bauxite was simply there.
It placed the breastplate he'd been holding on the table in front of him, the metal shifting to a warm brown to match its surroundings. The Bauxite's "face" would turn to however approached him, but settled on Audland for now as he began to speak. "Hello. This one is valuable. It changes colour. I'd wear it if I could, but... It restricts me." No, he was not going to elaborate on that one further.
Bauxite had brought his war-axe too, but this he held close to his "chest", rather than placing it on the table. He might have plans for it.
He may also take tentative offers on his war-axe.
