cure for boredom - Audland - Aug 07 2026

4:20 am in the middle of the night. Does that count for a celebration? I don't think so. Audland wanders the crystalline pathways of Gemini once more, and winds up in the shiniest part: the alcove with the glittering rift. He stands in front of it in wonder. Its hypnotic design intrigues him. The rift has no ornate or intricate framing; it simply tears through space, and maybe time. It doesn't look designed to be here.

Magic attempts to reach forth like a bloodhound, to understand better what is in front of him. Whether it does anything is anyone's (mostly a GM's) guess. For now, blue Barney just stands there, scratching his head, pondering the rift. It's like the closest thing Gembound have to the Grand Canyon.

Against the crystal walls of gemini, the rift glittered invitingly, almost teasing. Sometimes it would react to those that got close, but for Audland, unfortunately for now, it remained inert.

As for his detection, he could most definitely feel his own innate Chaos and the faint thrum of Order in the surrounding mycelia, but the rift itself echoed no feedback. There did not seem to be a specific influence that this magic could detect.

It was like a gap in the world, shimmering bright. It glittered, perhaps even rippled... and did nothing. Audland sneered. This useless little thing. He delighted in its existence.

The feedback was all same-same. Nothing different, or special. He wanted to leave. But first, he wanted to see what he could do about the clods of white all around.

Paw to the ground, he concentrated on the timid black threads of mycelium stringing throughout his own body. When he opened his eyes, he saw that he'd finally done it. Coaxed a fine batch of fungus to come slithering down his arm and onto the substrate. Eat, my pretties. Feast away.

After that, he was pretty much bored of being here. Too much light. Audland (proverbially) bounced. (Maybe literally, too.)
