Bevy Bevy Bevy Bevy Bevy - Dark - Oct 02 2015 He'd started chirping this nonsense halfway to Pisces. "Bevy-Bevy-Bevy-Bevy-Bevy-Enna-Bevy..." and hadn't stopped. He seemed cheerful, excited even, to go and see this "Bevy" of his--he'd even picked up his pace once at Pisces' entrance, smacking face-first into a few stone tunnel walls. He seemed unharmed, though, or perhaps just too cheery to care, leading his new goshawk friend right to the center of the cave. There he stopped, puffed himself out, and began to cheerfully and loudly hoot. "BEVY! BEVY! A NEW FRIEND IS HERE! BEVY!" He was nearish to her regular nesting place, or so he thought, but still he had no way of knowing precisely where she was. As it was he tried to reach out with his mind, as well, to find her and to let her know that he was here--with company, the thought-words laced with a sense of friendly greeting. @Bevy @Alaric RE: Bevy Bevy Bevy Bevy Bevy - Alaric - Oct 02 2015 The other bird seemed to have changed. No longer was he just the calm and focused teacher…and straight flyer semi-failure…I’d come to know. Instead, he was now…well…giddy. He seemed hyper and excited for no real obvious reason. And then the nonsense began. My skull tilted a few degrees in confusion…but that shifted the airflow across my frame and caused me to sink a few feet before I pulled myself out of the slight dive. I really needed to master flying. I was okay, but this was becoming a necessity. And then the oww crashed into the wall…but didn’t even cry in pain? Wow, that guy was tough. Or, just nuts. At this point…I was more so about to believe the latter. I landed as softly as I could about a foot from the other, watching as he hooted and made an excessive amount of noise. Didn’t this usually bring in bigger creatures? That ate creatures like me? “Are you crazy? Won’t this bring in something dangerous?” @Bevy RE: Bevy Bevy Bevy Bevy Bevy - Bevy - Oct 02 2015 While it was likely that Dark's calling would attract the attention of larger gembounds, most of the ones around Pisces knew the blind owl and also were quite familiar with the name he was calling. In fact, the one he was calling was busy with a bit of handy work-- making sure the map of the caves was clean and clear to read. When the noise came to Bevy's ears as well as her mind, an inward sigh was stifled. It wasn't much longer until the gembound answered Dark's call. Darting through the sky, an absolutely tiny black and red bird fluttered over, her eyes bright as she landed before the pair. ... Oh, another baby chick for Enna. The bird glanced between Dark and the newcomer, and coughed slightly. and I'll be thankful when you let go RE: Bevy Bevy Bevy Bevy Bevy - Dark - Oct 02 2015 Dark ruffled his feathers, hopping quickly toward Bevy and fluffing himself out, settling beside her with a happy expression on his owlish face. He didn't seem to mind her tone, or that she was the Bitchy Bevy version; instead he seemed perfectly content with this. He was bringing a stranger in; surely she should be happy about that. What if Alaric decided to join them? He could be a scout. Why was she being weird? "He has questions. Maybe you can answer them. You know everything," he stated, matter-of-factly. Then the owl lifted one foot, and began to use his beak to pick at his talons idly. @Alaric RE: Bevy Bevy Bevy Bevy Bevy - Alaric - Oct 03 2015 Perhaps longer than it should’ve taken, movement was now within my periphery. I turned my skull so as to view the creature approaching our vicinity more clearly. Of course, I was honestly expecting it to not be this ‘Bevy’ person, but rather a hugeish hungry creature descending upon us. Instead, this orangish red and black bird landed before us. The bird spoke, inferring that she was Bevy. Okay, this was the all-knowing one? But she didn’t seem…well…she just wasn’t what I was expecting. Shouldn’t she have been some bigger version of my oww teacher? Or maybe even a bigger version of me? instead, she had smallish talons, and wasn’t too much bigger than myself. She did have a long beak though, but not curled like mine and Dark’s. Strange. And then she spoke straight to me. Ca…Calypso-Bevy? Mazi Waiasomething? What was she even saying? I watched as Dark shifted and snuggled up to the Calypso-Bevy bird. It looked like a form of affection, but I wasn’t exactly an expert. Seemed otherwise a strange thing to do. Then again, had I not myself snuggled up to Dark? But that was for warmth. This place wasn’t too cold. Then there must be something between the two birds? Maybe this was actually a trap. Maybe Dark brought me here to get reinforcements? But…why would he teach me how to fly better? To earn my trust? That seems overly convoluted and too many options. No. I’d already established that Dark was a kind fellow. So what would deem this Calypso-Bevy to be anything different, especially if my oww friend was affectionate towards her? I shifted to stand a bit taller before speaking. “Hello Calypso-Bevy. I’m Alaric. I…well…Dark, he says you know things. I want to learn.” I tried to be at least slightly strategic in my words. I didn’t want to sound like I knew nothing at all…partly because it wasn’t true and partly to not make myself look weak…but, also quantify a reason to be taught by this deemed ‘smarter’ creature. @Bevy RE: Bevy Bevy Bevy Bevy Bevy - Bevy - Oct 14 2015 The bird named Bevy straightened slightly, the painfully apparent frustration melting out of her feathers. This bird wanted to know things? Things that Dark had brought him to her specifically just for? The bird nodded softly, the harsh tone gone from her chirping as she spoke up again. She wondered just exactly he was here to learn. ![]() She landed on a outcropping of rock that seemed like the perfect perch for a bit of her size, and glanced back to Alaric, vibrant red eyes beaming with curiosity. and I'll be thankful when you let go RE: Bevy Bevy Bevy Bevy Bevy - Dark - Oct 14 2015 The owl listened softly, glad to hear that the harsher tone was gone from Bevy's voice. Then he turned and offered Alaric a friendly glance. "It's safe," he said, perhaps unnecessarily. He hesitated for a moment; he could just stay back, but then, Alaric struck him as the type who might not be very confident going off alone with someone he'd just met. He decided to accompany them, even if just to sit quietly nearby, to listen. He took a few hopping strides and then took wing, soaring with a few silent wingbeats before scudding into the rock near where Bevy had landed. Then he ruffled his wings back into place and sat silent, waiting for the sound of Alaric to tell him where they were. As it was he sat facing the wrong direction, off to one side of Bevy and a few feet away, oblivious. @Alaric |
