Long lost kitten - Arete - Oct 07 2015

Orange gems searched the waters that rushed through Polaris. Rounded ears twitched and turned with each sound they heard, as if expecting the terrifying roar of the beast that use to take home in this area. Alas, nothing came and the tigress sat with ease. The beast had been slain, or gotten rid of, she didn't know. All she knew is there was a group that dealt with the dragon and he no longer terrorized polaris. Her tail twitched slowly as her keen eyes caught the forms of fish swimming leisurely against the river's current and slowly she licked at her chops. Hunger tapped at her, but she wasn't starving as her last meal was only hours ago. With a green the large feline slid down and rested upon her stomach, her gem clanking against the ground in a soft thud before all fell silent.

Paws dipped into the water, simply enjoying the crisp coolness the river had always brought anyone who wanted to test the waters. Idly she pondered what one of her abilities would do within the water and with a grin her mind set to focus instantly. Her gaze settled onto a particular fish and there it stayed as she focused all her energy into her magic. A soft sigh escaped her as nothing came of her will and she soon let a snort out and turned her gaze away from the fish. Oh well, maybe she could try again later. For now all she would do was relax there and enjoy the flowing waters against her front paws...

RE: Long lost kitten - Makyna - Oct 07 2015

Oh boy... What a busy couple of weeks it had been. After dealing with the dragon it was now time to focus on other more pleasant things, like wedding planning but that was proving difficult in its own right. Decorations, wedding guests, planning, plus she still had to help tend to the wounded. It was a difficult task for certain but she was up to it. Especially when her union with her beloved bear was involved. He just seemed to give her so much energy, like electricity it coursed through her veins and put a pep in her step.

A lively tune hummed in her throat as she ventured out to Polaris. It was still rather burnt and a little less than beautiful but after the dragon's fire the growth was exponentially better. Perhaps there would be a few jewels amongst the rubble... Or perhaps... Someone.

Makyna's clear blue eyes locked onto the distant form of a feline sitting at the edge of the river. Now, didn't this cat and scent seem familiar? Why... Wasn't that Arete? She believed that it certainly was! She felt a happy rumble start up in her throat while her tail lifted in greeting as she approached the tiger before she finally let out a happy chuff to catch her attention.

"Ho! Arete is that you?" As she neared she could see that the cat had certainly grown, far outgrown herself. Once she'd approached the lioness dipped her head and gentle bumped it against Arete's before sitting down next to the tiger. "Looking to catch some fish again?" The lioness said lightly, playfully.

A single ear twisted around, not because she heard the sound of pawsteps, but because she heard the sound of a rumbling purr. Her head lifted from her paws and she turned her head around just in time for Makyna to boop her right on the forehead. Almost instantly a deep purring resonated in her chest and a large smile curled across her features. "Makyna..." She spoke gently, affectionately, "It's so good to see you again." Languidly she pushed herself up to sit regally as she turned her complete attention towards the lioness. She had definitely outgrown Makyna, but that did not change how she viewed the second feline she had ever met. The one who helped her get a handle on her own magical abilities.

It had felt like an eternity since the last she had seen the lioness. It had only been a day from the moment she emerged from her chrysalis did she come to find the lioness right here on this river bank. IT probably wasn't the same exact spot, but it had been somewhere along this river bank. A soft laugh escaped Arete as the lioness spoke her question. With a small shake of her head she smiled, "No, actually I was trying to make one glow. It didn't go so well," She admitted as she turned her gaze to the water to see if she could spot a fish once more.

Shaking her thoughts she turned to look at the lioness again. "How have you been? I've heard whispers you're getting married," A sly smile reached the corners of her muzzle as she gave a teasing nudge against Makyna's shoulder. She had perhaps not been very interactive with a lot of others, but that did not mean she did not hear what was going on within the caves she wandered and explored at leisure.

Makyna's smile deepened at the other feline's kind and sincere words. "It's good to see you as well, my friend." The lioness looked up at the taller tiger. Just as before the tigress seemed to be quite calm and had a reassuring presence. How long had it been since she'd last seen the elusive cat? One cycle? Two? Time certainly did fly but she still had a soft spot for the calm cat.

The lioness nodded her head sympathetically at Arete's words. Sometimes magic backfired, sometimes it didn't work at all. However, at this point she was certain that Arete knew that already. "It happens sometimes... But I'm sure the next time it'll work out for you." There was no doubt in her mind about that. Magic just seemed to be a finicky thing sometimes.

With the next subject her gaze, which had been drawn to the water, was fully on the tigress. The wedding? Oh! Had news been spreading around the cave that much? She couldn't say that she was displeased, quite the contrary. She was tickled pink that her union was getting to be common news. Makyna ducked her head shyly and giggled like a school girl. "Oh? You have? I didn't know it was spreading all over the cave." One paw lifted to her muzzle as she tried to stifle her coy laughter. "But, yes... I'm marrying my teddy bear Leon. Finally after cycles and cycles we'll get to be united." It was a dream come true!

Warm laughter fell from the tiger when Makyna seemed to grow giddy with her words. "oh yes. It probably helps that I travel a lot," She grinned towards the lioness. She wasn't at all surprised something like a wedding was spreading through the caves. It was something no one else in their generation had ever had. How any of them even knew what a wedding was, was definitely a curious thing. Perhaps memories passed down from ancestors? Or was it just engraved into their very core from the get go?

Either way it seemed like a fun thing to attend. "Is there, perhaps, room for one more to attend?" She watched Makyna with hopeful eyes all the while her grin remained on her features.
