Break free - Diaval - Nov 07 2015

There was no expectations.

For weeks, the gembound has been developing in his stone haven which was hidden among the dense vegetation of Eridanus. There it sat on the leaf infested floor... waiting. Waiting for the day. Today was the day.

His body had become to large for the protective shell and that caused a break. Slowly but surely, the new homebound started to emerge. First came his legs, then his body, and finally his cranium. The shell was broken. A new life had blossomed.

At first, the newborn did not move nor open his eyes. Fear immediately flooded him. The dirt underneath him, the moss tickling his soft coat, it was too overwhelming. He didn't know what to make of this, that is why his eyes were shut tightly. But as the minutes passed, he got used to these new feelings and he dare to open an eye. And he saw them. Two legs sprawled in front of him. They were his legs. So strange. What surprised him more was the thing placed at the base of his nose. A bright green.... thing. A gem, though the newborn didn't know it. A peridot to be exact. It was so enchanting for him.

The boy ripped his attention away from the gem and onto the surrounding plants that brushed against his fur. What once frightened him now gave him the feeling of comfort, but why? Maybe it was just the mere fact they were the only things protecting him from this new world. It concealed him from anyone who was just pasting by. The newborn's ears flattened on his head as he moved forward and pressed his nose against the vegetation. The feeling was good and he pressed his whole face and then body against the plants. So heavenly to him somehow. But why?

RE: Break free - Hasira - Nov 07 2015

He was still in this gods-forsaken land. The land of the traitor. He had come secretly to find if there was anything else she'd stolen from him. Perhaps Beast was lurking in the bushes somewhere, if he was then Hasira would certainly find him out. His ears were pricked, his eyes primed to find something that belonged to him.

That was when he heard the sound of cracking, like a new gem being opened. Could it be new life? It could. Deciding to put Beast aside for now he went along and tried to locate the sound of the cracking. It wasn't too hard since his ears were sharp and his heart ready to meet whoever it was that was newly introduced into the world. Would it be a carnivorous slave? Or would he find a more pleasant herbivorous equal?

He pushed through the undergrowth, antlers easily slicing through the vegetation as he happened upon a new fawn. This tiny thing was nuzzling among the plants. It was so new... So precious... Like Wynry. Unlike Beast this creature didn't fill his heart with hate. It filled it with joy with an urge to protect and teach and show it the evils of the world before it was claimed. This would be his fawn. His newest prodigy.

The stag approach him, eyes soft and kind, scarred lips turned up into a smile. "Hello there, little one, welcome to the world." A glorious herbivore. Happy days!

The stag lowered himself to the ground, folding his forelegs first then his rear so that he could be more level with this precious creature. HE didn't want to be intimidating, no, not yet.

RE: Break free - Diaval - Nov 07 2015

There was a sudden presence in the air. It made the child's ears shoot up. Made his eyes dance around. As much as the youngster wanted to move, instinct ordered him to hide. If whatever was out there had a liking for meat, then he would be a perfect little snack.

Alas, the calf was in no danger. There was no need to hide away from this presence. Still, it was better to be on the safe side. Bravery would get him killed at this time.

And there he came. Another breathing creature crashing through the plants with ease. The younger gembound stayed still, wondering what the bigger one would do. And it was sound that came next. Speech is what it was. It was something in his mind that told him the meaning. Welcome was the only word his mind could translate. It was so comforting and made him feel warmer inside. Such a... well... welcoming word.

The boy didn't strain when the bigger male set himself beside him. In fact the tension loosened and was replaced with a calmer feeling. The feeling of company. It felt good to him. Maybe it was instinct. He was an animal of a herd after all. Or was it more than that. Surely. He, Diaval, was no ordinary deer. "Diaval..," he whispered. Yes, the name uttered felt good. That was what he wanted.

RE: Break free - Hasira - Nov 07 2015

There he lay, next to the fawn who not only reminded him of Wynry... but of himself. He could remember when he first hatched. When he was new and innocent to the dangers of the world. It was a great feeling but with that innocence was danger. He would not let another herbivore fall victim to it. Oh, weren't they all so sweet when they first hatched? Wanting nothing more than to explore and discover what the world was about. He would teach, he would teach this young on everything.

"Diaval..." The small one spoke. His ear twitched, strained to hear the small sound. His voice... It was unlike Wynry... It instead reminded him of someone else. Of the Pure One. The beautiful doe that he cared for deeply, whom he wanted to protect with his life. His heart... His dark heart, he felt it pull for the tiny buck. "Diaval... That is a strong name for a nice strong buck." He said kindly. Many would wonder how he was able to turn from an absolute demon to one who oozed paternal instincts. It was truly just his hate for carnivores and his want to protect all things that were flat-toothed like himself.

"Diaval... I am Hasira. I am the Lord and Protector of the herbivores." He knew those words were probably not understood by someone so young so he simply tilted his head to the side, tattered ears twitching as he said again. "Hasira. Me." He lowered his head and, if allowed, would gently touch his nose to the fawn's gem. "Diaval. You." A game is what it was like but a game that was necessary for these newborns.

RE: Break free - Diaval - Nov 07 2015

There was a response to Diaval's mutter. One that he presumed to be good. It made him glow with pride. Yes, it was a great name in his eyes. Where he had pulled the name from, no one would know. Still, he enjoyed the ring it bought unto his tongue. It bought happiness.

The first introduction the bigger gem gave bought a dumbfounded look on his face. Herbivores? What could that be? Maybe it was some sort of place he protected? There was so much for the youngster to learn.

The second introduction, however, was easy to understand. Hasira. That is what they called the man before him. When he came close to touch the precious life force set on his maw, Diaval didn't move. He gazed across his face to get another look at the peridot. Why was it even there. What purpose did it serve? One thing was for sure: it seemed to lure him to this plant life.

Thinking of the fact made instinct rise through his veins. There was something. Something below that was waiting for life. He could feel it. He leaned downwards touching his nose to the ground. He didn't know why he was doing this, but it seemed like a must. Like some sort of learning experience.

RE: Break free - Hasira - Nov 08 2015

The young fawn didn't shy away, didn't move from his light touch. Good. That showed that he wasn't a timid weakling. While he could tolerate weaklings they ultimately served little purpose to him, especially if they couldn't be used to fight. Still, if a weakling was still an herbivore it still deserved his protection. If he cast them out then he would be no better than the ones he hated.

Hasira's smile never wavered as he looked down at the young one, however, at the back of his mind he felt an urgency... A warning. These were not his lands. Arkrael ruled here and as much as he would love to put her in her place, he was not ready. The time for conflict was not yet. He would need to earn this one's trust and then hastily get on the move, back to Orion.

"What are you doing, little Diaval?" He asked quietly as the young one lowered his head. Before long he received his answer. A small sprout appeared from the ground where the fawn's nose pointed. Ah, plant magick. How distinctly useful! "Ah, that is what you call plant magick... my boy. You are very talented." That's right, build a bond. Make them trust you...

"Would you like to see something fun, my child?" Here he paused to attempt to pull on his magick but nothing happened. Well, time for plan B. "I know a place where there's lots of room to romp and play... and there will even be someone there who would love to see you. Would you like to go?" When he'd said this his words had dropped down to a whisper as he leaned in closer to say what he needed in Diaval's ear.

RE: Break free - Diaval - Nov 08 2015

His eyes widened with curiosity as something sprouted from the ground. It was a tiny plant that had emerged. It filled Diaval with pride. He was the one to do that. It felt so accomplishing. He had created new life and it felt great.

Hasira described it as 'plant magic'. He took an interest to it immediately. What else was he capable of doing with this new found skill? That answer would come, but not today. He needed to learn to walk first!

The compliment made the youngster's chest puff out. It had barley been a few minutes of his life and he was already ready to impress. It felt great to be rewarded with these compliments. It would make him want to achieve more things in the future.

Diaval's ears shot up when Hasira asked if he wanted to see something. Oh, what could it be? It made his tiny tail twitch with excitement to see something new. But... nothing happened. Well, it didn't matter to much. There was always more time to be shown new tricks.

The offer bought up did interest him. He wanted to see more. More places an faces. "Okay," he simply answered.

RE: Break free - Hasira - Nov 08 2015

At the tiny fawn's assent the stag nodded his head and then rose to his hooves. He stood for a moment, gazing around with ears twitching to hear anything --or anyone-- that might be trying to sneak up on them. Within Arkrael's territory you never knew who might be trying to attack and take your head off. After a moment of listening and hearing nothing he looked down at Diaval, eyes encouraging.

"Come, my child." He took a step forward before turning to look back at the fawn. They had long spindly legs, something that was quite difficult to work with upon first emerging. He wondered if Diaval would pick it up right away or if he would need help. Hopefully the former would happen, he was beginning to get a little edgy about the territory. Despite all his brave words about herbivores being superior, he still knew what disadvantage he was in at this moment.

RE: Break free - Diaval - Nov 08 2015

He was not aware of the potential danger he was in. A naïve soul at the start. Knowing very little of this place and who inhabited it. Not truly knowing the power in him and how to control it. He didn't even know how to stand yet! A companion like Hasira was a must and it was a good thing to obtain him.

Diaval watched as the deer lifted himself from the ground. It had both rose fear and curiosity in the younger gembound. How was he able to do such a thing? Move with his limbs? Would he get it on the first try? Not wanting to be left alone, Diaval decided to give it a go. Slowly he rose, ears pulled back and knees shaking. He tried to stand straighter, but by doing so lost balance and fell once more. With a deep breath, he did the same procedure, only this time keeping his legs spread apart. He took one cautious step forward, then another, and another. It would look very amusing to an onlooker. As he took each step, his legs rose way higher than need be.

RE: Break free - Hasira - Nov 09 2015

The stag continued to watch, both his tattered ears strained forward with interest at the fawn's new endeavor. "You can do it. It is not as hard as it looks, I assure you." A bit of his old self seemed to show through as he encouraged the youth with a kind smile. He would watch as Diaval rose with shaking knees and then overbalanced and fell back onto the earth. Hasira said nothing, only watched with curiosity to see if he would try again.

The stag was not disappointed. The tough youngest rose on his hooves once more, this time with his legs spread wide to help with his balance. Hasira chuckled as he watched the overly high steps. He would go lend a hoof to help this youngster. "Watch me, my child. Just keep your weight balanced and keep on going, it'll become easier with practice." He walked back to the youngster and stood at his side, there in case Diaval needed his help in staying up. Not only would this help them walk but it would get them out of this territory faster.
