where has the time gone - Carrie - Nov 20 2015

Along the walls of the frozen tunnel, tiny cracks danced along the sides. There was signs of pressure building up, further down one of the walls must have given out before there was a large hole and pile of rocks all along the floor. The caves were a stand and mysterious place, thing always changing. Upon further inspection, there would be a sign that behind the wall that had fallen, another tunnel was in sight but unfortunately blocking any way inside without causing more rocks to collapse and trapping anyone who tried to enter.

Among the rubble there was sign of a build up of water, since the whole floor was a few inches deep in a fresh stream flowing from the hole. A few of the rocks stood out, bright blue in color and defiantly not apart of the wall. Something moved. No, someone. There was someone that laid among the shattered blue stone, drenched them-self and muttering words to themselves. "So much water . . ." The figure was a large rodent, fur was red and rough to the touch; she might be a stranger to most in these caves, but someone might even say she looked like a small child who disappeared many cycles ago.

Would anyone remember the capybara?

RE: where has the time gone - Feverfew - Nov 20 2015

She and her brother had been allowed to explore and see the caves for themselves, their Papa said so! And so they did, enjoying the winding tunnels and the carvings on the walls and the echoing greens and the wind screaming down hallways. There was so much to see, so much to play with! She ran and jumped and climbed with her clumsy legs, calling back to her slower brother who walked with this funny limp.

Fever's imagination soared here amongst the ice, and she pretended she was this powerful dragon burning down the ice with her fire breath, and her brother shook his head, murmuring he was someone who watched over the all-powerful dragon to make sure they didn't get in trouble.

She felt heat build up in her again for another blast of superheated air, but she made it weak and directed it at the ice, conscious of the first time she'd used it, when her brother had almost drowned because she had blasted him in the face.

He still has blisters and a few boils because of it....and she didn't want that to happen again. So she had fun melting the ice around her.

He followed her rapid pace as she ripped through the caves like it all was sugar and sunshine, and he got tired after the second room they explored. He was exhausted because of his damaged hips, and the pain flared there. Of course, it was always there, since his tail was born broken and his hips were always hurting him, but with the amount they walked today, it was like fire there. Every step hurt.

But he ignored it when he saw how happy she was, roaring at her reflection in the ice. He didn't want to complain and beg that they go back home, she would just worry over him and get upset that she'd dragged him so far, and he wanted her to be happy.

Something caught his ear as he watched her melt ice with her breath, and he looked over to his left, spying a flash of pure red. Curious, he called out a soft, "Hello?"

The large rodent shifted where she lay, eyes squeezing together as she became more aware of what was going on around her. Did she hear steps? Feel warmth and some of the ice melting? Wait, there was ice now and not so much water? Slowly the capybara opened her eyes, blinking rapidly at the light. It felt like it had been a long time since she had seen the light. Oh, how little did she know how true that thought was. "Did I fall asleep?"

Lifting her head, she took around her; standing up slowly, seeing all the blue rocks around her feet. They seem to look like the rocks from her chrysalis when she woke up. How strange for the female. Heavy head raised, gazing upon the figure which spoke a hello. The young one didn't look familiar, but the rodent hadn't been around the whole cave system yet so there were many faces she didn't know yet. "Hello." Struggling a little bit to stand, but quickly noticing something was off when she was at her feet.

The first was how high she stood up, or was this gembound short? The next was the fact that she was on all fours, and not on all threes? And the last was how hungry she felt. What in the world was going on? A look of shock now plastered on her face.

She looked over to where her brother had called softly to, and as she saw where he was looking, her eyes connected with this red creature emerging from a pile of ice rubble. "Ah!" She cried, scrabbling clumsily down from the now-melted slope of ice towards the rust-red sanguine fur.

"H'llo!" She said, bubbly and cheerful, sniffing over the red thing, noticing they were soaked for some reason. "Asleep! Fell Asleep!" She looked back at Nettle, who was making his slow way over to the both of them, then back at her. "Auntie fell asleep!"

"H'long 've you been 'sleep, Auntie?" She asked, her head tilting. She looked good for someone sleeping for a long time! Fever imagined she would be starving!

He made it to the both of them, his forehead furrowing when his sister called the new one their aunt. Well, everyone who was a herbivore was family, according to Papa, and he could see the similarities in both his sister and the steadily calm one before them. They both were stocky and strong with short legs and a wide neck, and he supposed if the new one had grey skin like them, she would look a lot like them, but to him, that's where the similarities ended.

She certainly didn't look like Mama, he thought, how she looked just like the two of them, grey skin and all. Mama was just as big as Papa was to them, only bigger. Mama would keep the both of them safe.

He internally shrugged. If his sister called her Auntie, he would too.

"Dream?" He said her, quietly and simply. Did Auntie have interesting dreams, he wondered, while she slept in the ice? He imagined it wasn't very comfortable here. She wouldn't have a furnace to sleep next to, like he did with Fever.

Standing there, a puzzled look still on her face, as she looked down more closely to the gembound before her and noticed that there was two of them. Twins? They both did look rather alike, in the part that they must be the same kind of creature even tho they were all gembound like herself. There was someone who taught her about other gembounds and how we might all look different we all started the same. The train of thought stopped as the name Auntie was given. "Auntie?" She titled her head a bit, before giving it a tad shake. "My name isn't auntie, my name is Carrie." But the questions given to her were good ones to consider.

Just how long had she slept? Glancing down to the broken blue rock shells, they reminded her so much of the day she woke for the first time. Funny. That day was similar to this one, almost. The rodent had hatched in a cold and wet place this like one, but she wasn't found by two little grey ones; she was found by a kind friend. Ky. "I'm not very sure . . . but I did dream." Brown eyes looked between the two of their little faces. "Of water, lots and lots of water." Taking a step forward, she moved to get out from the pile of rubble. Glancing over to them again, before she asked "Do you two have names?"

"No, no, Auntie!" She said with emphasis, as if correcting the older gem. Papa had another name, but that didn't mean they called him Hasira, no, they called him Papa! No, this gem was clearly their Auntie, just look at how short and low to the ground she was, like them! She was just Auntie Carrie, that's all.

"Water..." She pondered this. Then she looked at her brother, frowning. Their experience with water wasn't that great - if it wasn't for Mama, they would've been in really big trouble. The thought of seeing her brother go under the river made her shiver, and she ignored the train of thought completely when Auntie asked them a question.

"Ah! Me, me Fever! This Nettle! Brother!" She said happily, glad for a change of subject. "There's Papa an' brother Brutus and Mama! Now Auntie!"

RE: where has the time gone - Deadnettle - Nov 21 2015

Nettle had sat down by now, his hips causing him too much pain to stand. He really wanted to go back home....and he thought of a way to make both him and his sister happy. Quietly, he spoke up, looking between the two of them.

"....See Papa?" He suggested with a tilt of his head. "....food."

Surely if she'd been asleep for this long, Auntie would be really hungry, and the only one they both knew to find food really well was Papa. He knew where all the secret treasures where, where all the hidden delights were, every one radically different than the last in terms of taste.

He saw his sister enjoy the idea and bounce around, looking at Auntie, saying, "Yes, Yes! See Papa! Auntie see Papa! Go! Go!"

Why in the world were they insisting that she was their auntie? Such a strange claim, but thinking back she did think others who were bigger then her could be family, or maybe like a family and from where she stood the capybara did feel bigger then the young rhinos. "Your papa had food?" Eyes danced between the two of them, but took notice that the male sat himself down so she walked over to stand between the young ones.

Walking on four limbs again felt so wonderful, not missing limping or having to bounce a bit with one rear leg and she couldn't imagine walking on three legs when she was so much larger now. "Hmmm, well it's nice to meet you two, Fever and Nettle." Glancing down the tunnel from the directions she assumed they came from. A low grumble came from her belly now. The mention of food caused a realization on how hungry she felt. "Did you say food, that your papa knows where there is food?" Giving a little grin to them both before she sat down besides Nettle.
