feather snatcher! [pt.2] - Ashtoreth - Nov 25 2015

listen to me + hear my thoughts

It was time to get more feathers. Ash strolled into the misty, stinky marsh of Cetus. She knew there was a forest in here-- and where there were trees, there were nests, and where there were nest...

There were more birds with pretty feathers!

Ash bounced along, dodging the wetter, sloshier parts of the swamp in favor of more solid ground. Within moments she was lost, deep in the mist, all alone...

But more excited than ever to hunt down some pretty feathers!

RE: feather snatcher! [pt.2] - Eve - Nov 25 2015

Eve had absolutely no idea that children would be a lot of work. After a long day of watching her son roll around in the mud and then having to clean the crusted dirt away from his feathers, the crow thought she could fall asleep on the rock she stood on.

After she said goodnight to the little hybrid she felt too lazy to actually fly all the way up into her nest. She decided, instead, to just remain on her rock. The little crow poofed herself up, half-closing her eyes.

She briefly heard footsteps, though she promptly decided to ignore them. Nobody - at least any children of rot - wouldn't bother her anyway.

Ashtoreth found a bird... now she just had to reach her! The crow was lazily lounging on a rock, right in plain sight of the deadly hunter. She grinned, wriggling into prime pounce position, and then she leaped, flailing her butt wings wildly.

The child barely made it to the top of the rock, much less pounced on the poor crow. She let out a wheeze as she slipped, digging her claws into the stone as she started to fall off of the stone.

With a splash, the hybrid plopped into the marsh, an absolute failure as a hunter. She could honestly cry-- and she tried to, a wheezing sob coming out of her pathetic throat.

The crow's eyes snapped open as something banged into the rock she was trying to sleep on. Briefly, she had wondered if Tal'at or Oliver were trying to reach her and blindly flung themselves at the rock, but turning around she saw a stranger, crying.

Not just a stranger. A kid.

Needless to say, the crow's maternal instincts kicked in, glossy black feathers flattening against her skin as she fluttered down to gently land on the noodle-bird's head. With some quick thinking, the crow's blue-white talon began to shimmer gently, as little specks of light began to fall around Ashtoreth - similar to snow or the like.

"Don't cry," Eve hushed, moving to gently preen the back of her head. "Where have you come from?"

Suddenly, the bird she had been trying to hunt turned to her with bright, keen eyes just like her little sister. Somehow that made her want to cry more, knowing that this bird was basically her sister and she hadn't managed to hunt right.

But the air turned into glistening snow, light sparkling before her eyes and she was transfixed, if even for a moment. The bird started to preen at her mane of feathers and she calmed down a bit.

Her wings flapped as she tried to answer in the only way she could.

The air hummed distantly with her magic, and the faint voice of Aza'zel, almost forgotten, spoke from her wings, "Daughter.."

The voice was somewhat familiar. She couldn't pinpoint it - but it was familiar. The crow would probably frown to herself, if she could. "I see," she said, oddly quiet. "Why are you here?"

After Ash had calmed down she fluttered back onto her rock, peering down at the little hybrid.

Ash's eyes sparkled brightly when the crow asked her what she wanted. The bird seemed like a friendly sort-- perhaps she could get what she wanted this time without being a big bad thief. As much as she was basically The Best at it.

So the noodle nosed at her chest fluff, grabbing a loose orange-stained feather from her chest, and held it up to show Eve. Then, she scrambled up the rock, flapping violently, and eventually managed to get on top of it.

She set down the feather gently between them and then waved her paw frantically at Eve, and then put it to her nose, grinning mischievously.

The crow abruptly recalled the little foal she had found a few months ago was she watched Ashtoreth. Blinking, she turned her head around and plucked at her tailfeathers before she finally managed to pull out a clean onyx tailfeather.

She fluttered down to the orange feather and carefully placed her own feather down next to it before she turned to inspect the other feather. She reached out to touch it - talon barely glowing as the little feather began to shimmer lightly, very subtly. She nodded and glanced up at the hybrid.

Ash could feel excitement wiggling up into her butt, her wings twitching as the bird seemed to understand her. The crow pulled out a black tail feather and placed it beside her own, and then something curious happened.

The black bird touched her orange feather with a talon and it began to glow.

Immediately, Ash's reaction was priceless. She began to bounce about in a typical mustelid fashion, making tiny wheezing squeaks of excitement. She didn't know how to say thank you-- she just knew this was the most amazing thing she had ever seen in her entire young life.

Today was a pretty good day, the crow decided as she watched the noodle dance. What a good feathery noodle - it almost reminded her of the noodle she had been Black with a while ago.

.. huh.

She decided to shrug it off, though - Black wasn't much of her business despite owning one of her kids and fathering the other, and Black's friends were definitely none of her business.

"Have them both," she said abruptly. "Is there anything else you'd like?"
