waiting to see your face - Carrie - Dec 28 2015

The rodent had kept to herself after that day, after those cruel yet true words were hissed into her mind. Everything that doe told her just clung to her mind and stained her thoughts. Curled up around her growing child, watched every day how the stone grew and became something spectacular. They will be spectacular. It was the only way, the only way to make this whole thing be alright again.

It must have been days since she laid there, not even getting up to eat. Clearly thinner, the capybara felt empty in the room, clinging to the hope that her child would be something much more then she would ever be and nothing like the father that fed her lies. "I won't let you become like him." Pressing her cheek to the stone, feeling how it hummed with life growing inside. Even if it meant taking the child away from this place . . . but would she be brave enough to even leave this stary room?

She just wanted to see their little face and be able to tell the child everything would turn out alright but Carrie just needed someone to tell her that. Even if it was just a lie.

RE: waiting to see your face - Farrah - Dec 28 2015

THOUGHT YOU COULD KEEP ME AWAY?!

Wow! This place sure was far away from Eridanus, wasn't it? Farrah's snowy home was great, but the rest of the cave could be great too, right? The short dog even smelled someone nearby! Naturally she followed the scent until she came upon the rodent. Farrah's tail immediately was sent wagging, "Oh, hi, hey, hello!" She cheered, "I'm Farrah, can I come closer? I mean you no harm! Do people say that? No- I really mean it though!" To reiterate the point, she flopped down on her back, tail wagging. If this creature had hands, perhaps it would come up and pet her!

Unfortunately, that would never come true. Animals could not pet other animals, right? They could cuddle. Farrah looked at the other again, expectedly. Then she saw the growing crystal. A gasp left her maw, "Is that going to be a new baby gembound? Is it... is it yours?!" she flopped from her back to her side, keeping her little doggy legs limp, "You made a precious baby gem thing?" She was in awe, truly. Her eyes opened wide as her looked from the gem to the rodent, nearly glittering as she waited for a response.

Taking in a slow breath, nuzzling the chrysalis with motherly affection. She had never been a mother before, but after watching the stone grown it seemed to awaken something side the capybara. "Oh, hi, hey, hello!" Tiny ears perked up as she twisted her body to look as where the voice came from. A dog? But instead of jumped to her feet, and running like the coward she was . . the rodent kept still and stared blankly to the new comer. The flood of questions weren't over looked, making sure she was keeping between her 'child' and this Farrah.

". . . yes." Yes, she made this life; not reason to lie. Knowing know what those who eat meat weren't all bad, she still didn't feel like open arms were needed. Carrie felt that part had gone silent for happiness. "And mine alone." No, she would not share this life ether. He wasn't going to get any credit. Keeping her eyes on the dog, watching carefully.

Farrah stayed on her side, her curl tail battering the ground. She listened to the other, her breaths coming in happy little pants as her tongue drooped out of her maw. Her left cheek was squished against the ground, causing little wrinkles on her face and her left eye to be half closed. She didn't care, though it probably looks pretty silly.

The other gembound said the baby was hers and hers alone, "Wow... I didn't know you could do that... But I also no nothing about children really." She used her lower legs to push her a bit closer before sniffed at the rodent, "What's your name? I forgot to ask. Oh! Did you name him yet? Or her... yeah I don't know how these things work... do they name themselves?" She stopped for a second to lick her nose and to let the other answer.

RE: waiting to see your face - Carrie - Dec 28 2015

Carrie was no gallant being, she was just like any other here in these caves that wasn't spectacular. The twins had one another and might be able to make it out of this unnecessary war in one piece. Maybe even the other child of the lord might be able to do some good or would they be tainted like their parents. She continued to watch Farrah from the corner of her eye. How did she get here without being noticed? Was Hasira not keeping as close watch as he claimed or was that a lie as well?

". . . Carrie." Sighing out her name, "And they will name themselves." At least, she assumed so since that's how the rodent found her name. No one gave it to her, she just knew it. Shifting her weight, the rodent faced the canine now, dead eyes stared deep at her. "This place isn't safe for your kind . . ." Not a threat, but a warning of the possible danger. Was it possible she has no idea?

As the Rodent gave her name, Farrah beamed, her tail brushing the ground rapidly, "Carrie..." she repeated. She said the children would name themselves, which made sense. No one had given them their names... maybe? She had never heard of someone naming someone else, anyway.

Carrie turned now to face Farrah and said this place wasn't safe for her kind. Her kind? What kind was she? Farrah twisted to lay on her belly as she thought about her kind. She was fluffy... She had light magic... The small dog looked over the rodent quizzically, "What do you mean my kind? What do you mean it isn't safe?" Farrah's back legs slid her along the ground a little closer to Carrie as she lowered her voice, "Is your kind safe here? What kind of kind are we talking about?" Her maw closed, giving a nervous smile. How was she not safe here with Carrie?

The thin rodent stared blankly at the dog, the way she responded hinted at that they didn't even know. "Is your kind safe here? What kind of kind are we talking about?" "Those who are not herbivores, those that eat of the flesh." Was it possible this Farrah was unaware? "The lord of this area will harm you if he finds you . . . be aware of this." And he was wrong to hurt others because of the way they were born.

She knew this now but was to afraid to tell the lord. She'd only wanted what was best for her child. Heavens only knew what he would do to such a small creature like her, so fragile and so kind. It was clear in her eyes, Carrie could see it but . . . her own gaze was fogged over. "Be careful . . ." Letting out a ragged sign before letting her chin rest on the egg.

Farrah listened, scooting closer, "Those who eat... flesh... not herbivores... hmm..." For a second, the dog's expression drew grim. She said the lord here would harm her, and warned her to be careful. Farrah stared at the ground. After what felt like a long moment, she drew closer to Carrie, this time, nervously, "If- if he harms those that eat flesh then... then isn't he the same? He wants to hurt those that eat flesh...?" Farrah's fiery eyes directed to Carrie now, "Why? Do- do you want to harm me too?"

Farrah stayed quiet for a while, her gaze breaking from Carrie's form. A moment passed, then Farrah looked up. A smile spread across her maw now, and her eyes glittered, though weather it was by magic or expression was unclear, "Well, that's okay! I mostly only eat bugs and I don't really think they have flesh anyway! Rats... scare me a little still, to be honest." Farrah looked away sheepishly before she brought her attention back to her rodent friend, "Besides-" she stared, flashing another smile, "I'm happy here right now, and as long as I'm happy, I'm not scared of anything anymore. As long as I can find warmth in my body, I'll be fine." Farrah shot a wink at Carrie, though she didn't mean anything by it except to prove her point of being fine. Her smile fell back to a normal resting state, "What will you do, Carrie?"

((ooc - if you don't want Khlor to butt in and be creepy/diseasy just let me know, he can pick up on the unease/awkwardness/whatever and move on!))

So soft, and gentle. One sad--one bright.

The black horse listened, ears pricked, form utterly motionless, from behind the boulder. He had been travelling, moving from Tunnel K onward from Canis. The white raven, he had plagued; he didn't know where she had gone, but he had been heading in the same direction, nonetheless.

Now, though, he heard not a cawing crow, but soft feminine voices. For a time he merely listened, absently curious. He didn't have to see them with his eyes, in any case: his magic could sense them, even through the stone, see their moving shapes filled with their wonderful, perfectly-balanced miasma of bacteria.

At length, he dared crane his thin head slightly around the stone.

The sad creature was brown, smaller than he. The more cheerful was one a slightly more reddish brown, and smaller still.

His empty, glowing eyes fixed on the sad one. He was interrupting--rude of him, perhaps--but he strode forward nonetheless, unhurried and idly focused. He stopped several long paces away, leaving a polite, safe distance between he and the others, and lowered and turned his head to sniff about, swishing his long tail. He was not a threat; that was his body language. He was here to greet; he had heard voices, and come to investigate.

Yet when his gaze slipped back to Carrie, it lingered.

He had heard them speak. He knew their names, at least. He had heard the capybara's ragged sigh, her depressed tone, and he stared at her as he spoke. His tone was soft--gentle, even--but his voice rasped hollowly.

"Carrie," he asked quietly, and for a moment, he let the silence fill. "Why are you sad."

She listened to the things the dog was saying, how they ate bugs and their next statement stuck. "If he harms those that eat flesh then... then isn't he the same?" Turning her body about, facing Farrah now, raising slowly up into a seated possession. Her thin frame was a little more obvious now but she didn't show mush sign of distress from it. "That is a good question . . . but I suppose he truly is a maggot like the white doe said . . ." Tone a little flat, " . . and no, I won't hurt you. I will wait for my child to be born and try to leave this place." yes, that's what she truly wanted.

But to leave meant to be brave and strong, and she was nether of those things. Where would she even go? And all that time, nether of them probably noticed the horse that lingered out of sight. At least until that voice called out, "Carrie, why are you sad?" A chill crawled down her back, Did she know him . . . no, was he listening this whole time? Glancing over the happy dog to the male that came closer.

Why was she sad? "Because . . . I am, to many lies." Since she awoke, that's all she heard were lies and now she was sure she has been listening to the wrong ones. Ky must hate me. Little ears pinned back. The white doe told her so, and now she feared it was all true.
