Α GUARDIANSHIP AND SERVITUDE Ω - Theta - Dec 30 2015

@Kallista @Omega
lets see how protective we can be
just one word from you and it's over

Convincing Omega to go towards the darker part of the tunnel where vegetation grew and created a choking, suffocatingly closed in space was difficult-- but once they got to the other side? The light of the cavern's lanterns were bright and golden, bathing the cold, snowy room in a comforting light. Immediately Alpha felt in his element as he stepped forward and crunched a paw into slushy snow. Trees and dying ferns lay everywhere, but otherwise the area was wide open and wonderful.

"See? What did I tell you? This is much better," he told off his younger companion, holding his head high. "Are you hungry?" He asked next, striding forward into the thick of the snowy forest. Surely there would be something to eat here-- as long as they didn't run into any trouble from anyone, he'd have a great time in this new cavern.

RE: Α GUARDIANSHIP AND SERVITUDE Ω - Kallista - Dec 30 2015

Kallista walked into a cave, looking around her. It was bright, and there was snow everywhere. Kallista could see hints of plants that were now dead, or near dead. She continued walking, her creamy white fur making her blend in almost instantly. There were very faint dark gray rosettes that were slowly becoming more prominent, but for now were hardly noticeable. Snow stuck to her fur, much to her annoyance. It made her feel cold, but she refused to show any sign of such.

After some time of walking, she noticed two wolves, one of which was brown and black, and the other was white. The brown and black one was most noticeable, the white one less so. She narrowed her eyes and crouched, slowly walking closer up to them until she could get a better look. She then watched them, her tail tip lightly flicking.

Life wasn't faring well for omega... Every step was a challenge, and with Alpha dragging him through the darkness into a place much, much different than the tunnels. it was cold and bright and... and terrifying.

Omega couldn't do this anymore.

He was dying.

he knew it.

Completely oblivious to the approaching cat, Omega was halfway buried in the snow (his own doing) and laid there, completely and totally out of order. To Alpha's question, he could only after with a soft whine, but his wide eyed gaze never left whatever he was staring at in the distance in front of him. Even his humming vibrate couldn't help him now.

Alpha glanced back when Omega started whining and felt every bit of exasperation he had ever felt (which was a surprising amount, considering he was a few day old puppy) resurface. This feeling was followed by an exaggurated sigh as he turned around and walked over to the pathetic pup, golden eyes barring down on the minute-younger child.

"It's just snow!" He yipped, fluffy white fur puffing up around him. "You're fine, come on. Get up. It's just frozen water, and laying in it is just going to make you cold." As he was ranting and raving at his younger charge, however, the canine noticed something in the corner of his vision.

Baring his teeth, he turned to the crouching feline. "Who's there?!" He demanded, holding himself high, tail erect like a red (or rather, blue, yellow and red) flag of warning.

Kallista watched as one of the wolves, the darker one, buried himself into the snow. Her head tilted in confusion. Why was he burying himself into the snow? She continued to observe as the other one let out an exasperated sigh and began to speak to the dark one. Her tail tip lightly flicked, back and forth. After some time, the white one seemed to notice movement and seemed to look directly at her. Shaking her fur briefly to get any snow that had clustered on it off, she rose.

"I'm here." She slowly stalked closer to them, her head held high. She was slightly unnerved by the baring teeth of the white one, and the tail held high, but attempted to show no sign of it. She watched the two for a bit with a partially amused gaze. "What's with him?" she motioned with her head toward the wolf buried in the snow.

Cold? What was cold? Was cold death? It certainly felt like death.

Maybe cold was that stinging numb feeling he was feeling in his legs and underside. It bit, but he was terrified. Then alpha spoke to him and he listened, though he didnt move. It was useless. He was dying.

Then alpha called out and another voice was heard and a cat appeared. She mentioned Omega but he still didnt move. He whined then, the whine coming out as a weak vibration with a soft hum.

Alpha whipped his attention away from Omega and towards the stranger, hackles raising as his pelt bristled. A cat? Immediately he knew the word for what she was-- a feline-- his opposite and his inferior. A prey stealing thief that would just get in his way. The canine forced the thought down, though he kept his puppy teeth bared at her.

"I am Alpha. This is Omega, my charge, and he's scared of the snow," he explained, exasperated, but he took a step backwards towards the darker canine so that his heel touched the black fur of his... companion. "Who are you?" There was one thing he was certain of, however-- and that was if she got to close, he'd attack her with all his strength.

He wasn't scared of some pussy cat tromping in on his problems.

"I see," she murmured, continuing to watch the black wolf. She glanced back up to the white wolf who still had his teeth bared. "Oh please," she nearly purred, "I'm not going to hurt either of you. Can't a cat simply walk by?" Kallista flicked her tail. "Scared of the snow? Why, that's ridiculous! Snow isn't going to hurt you! Well, I suppose it might if you continued to stay buried into it."

She watched as the white wolf took a step back. "I'm Kallista. Who might you two be?" she asked, eyes darting back and forth between the two. She stayed right where she was, not wanting to threaten either of them. She was merely a kitten, and while the two were both young, about the same age as her if she had to guess, they could still do quite a bit of damage. Likely more than she could do to them.

Omega couldn't even actuate his legs if he wanted to, they were so numb at this point. So thankfully his humming didnt fail him. The cat made fun of him, at least in his eyes, and he whined. Hopefully Alpha would pick up on his sign of distress and make thr cat stop making fun of him.

The cat just wanted to pas though, and Omega silently hoped Alpha would let her. Despite hurting his feelings, he kinda just wanted her gone. If she didnt leave though, or Alpha didnt let her, he was mildly afraid of what would happen. He desperately wanted to run to his side to try and calm him the same way Alpha calmed him, but alas, he was numb. He did try to wriggle out of the snow a little, wondering if what the cat said was true. He was already certain that snow was death, but he wasnt so sure he was ready for it... Besides, Alpha looked warm!

So steadily the boy rose on shaky, numb legs and hobbled over to Alpha, trying not to fall on his face. He crowded near Alpha's rump then as if he were hiding and used his butt for warmth. Hopefully this would keep the snow from killing him.

"I told you," the canine growled, raising a paw to move so that his body stood between Omega and Kallista as much as possible. "I am Alpha, and this is Omega," he repeated loudly, fur bristling. "Now be a good kit and get out of here. I have to hunt for Omega before he starves, and I'll be damned if I let you get in my way."

To be fair, though, the wolf pup didn't know how he was going to hunt. He didn't know if he was fast enough to take down anything, much less strong enough. His tiny body was not yet ready to be an adult, and the thought sent a trickle of fear down his spine that he did his best to hide.

"Or maybe I'll just feed you to him and save myself the trouble," he threatened, though in the back of his mind he remembered Priest's warning about being violent in Eridanus... Even if this place seemed too snow covered to be the same world that the numbat spoke of.
