[May 12th, 2015] [Polaris > Orion]
Fortune had chosen to leave Polaris behind. Not forever, she'd come back to try and find her hatching place someday, maybe, but for now, she had more impressive adventures awaiting her. She'd found a tiny stream, barely a trickle really, and thirsty, she'd taken to following it- not knowing her direction would lead her away from even more water the other way.
As she followed the trial of water, she noticed with some disappointment that it became thinner as she went. Soon, she'd found herself at the end of it- a tiny pool with a crack in the bottom, draining any overflow at a constant trickle, matching the flow of the stream itself. She frowned. Well, that certainly wasn't what she'd been hoping for at the end of this journey.
Well, best not waste a tiny good thing anyway. She bent to drink quietly from the pool, relishing in the sweet quenching feeling as it settled her stomach and cooled her throat. Yes, that was nice- but it wasn't quite what she'd been hoping for, so the fawn lifted her head to look around.
A green light surrounded her, the moss and lichen glowing brightly now that she'd looked up from the trickling stream. In fact, as she looked to her side, she made note of how little space she'd crawled her way into. She rolled her shoulders, then craned her head around carefully to look back the way she came, at the gleaming, colorful light of Polaris. No, that wasn't worth returning to. Too many annoyances, not enough places to hide.
She turned towards the new exit just a few steps ahead, and gave her eyes a moment to adjust to the different lighting. Just beyond, she could see the sparkling lights up above, but they seemed dim and colorless this far away. She pressed onwards, pausing only to rip out a few tufts of moss as a snack to bid away the hunger pains.
(Gonna leave this here as a traveling thread- I'll post here again if she passes through Tunnel N again in the future.)
