to a sky full of stars - Giada - May 14 2015

It all started with a ribbon of consciousness. It was not yet roused, but simply weaving through the thread of space that was existence. Eventually, the surreal mind began to pull away from its slumber, as if being awoken by an alarm clock. That was the last of the darkness.

A state of awareness flowed into the gembound as she emerged from her chrysalis and inhaled her first breath of life. All at once, her senses were unlocked and a flood of messages overloaded the infant mind as she witnessed her environment for the first time. While the darkness of the room shrouded most of her vision and left much to be desired, the ceiling sparkled with radiant light. The cave's famed quartz crystals populated the walls like a million stars. While a beautiful rarity, they proved to be too bright for the newly hatched gembound, who tightly squeezed her eyes shut.

The gembound had the form of a grizzly bear cub and umber fur covered her disoriented form. Identical to the crystals in the room, sprouting from her shoulder was a quartz jewel. While the cub was still getting used to her body, minutes passed and thought began rolling into her brain. This was all so confusing, what was she doing here? Like all creatures, she was experiencing hunger and thirst and it thoroughly frustrated her. Opening her maw to rid herself of her annoyances, she called. "Reeerrrr!" The newborn's sound echoed throughout the chamber, magnified from Orion's vast walls.

Surprised by her own noise, she shut her jaw. Instinct began to beckon and inform the young bear that she needed to move. The restlessness in her stomach spurred her to get on all four paws, and so the newborn began trailing along crumbling structures, searching for something to satisfy her new hunger.

Hopefully this is okay, spewed out this post at 1:00 in the morning. xD

RE: {emerging} to a sky full of stars - Louie - May 14 2015

Births from the stones. That was something he could view in safety and he was often perplexed by the odd places that happened to just turn up. Nothing really discerned them from regular rocks although occasionally they had a certain sheen to them. Having moved between a variety of the rooms, his first glimpse of the room of stars was met with no immediate pleasure as he couldn't see the light reflecting off the stones. There was no main source of light, so when the hatching of one nearby caused such a spectacle to dance atop the roof he too shielded his eyes and he was almost overcome with the feeling this was the end already. It was so bright. After a world of darkness it was hard to deal with.

Louie stumbled forwards, met only with the feeling of warmth and fur as he fell into the bear. Dazed, by all the new feelings and the light and everything else he cried out as the bear let out her waking call. Holy crap. Panicked, he tried to run away but he was so disorientated he just ran in a circle before pounding head first yet again into the female. Giada got up and had begun movement, while the red fox just sat there awkwardly. Entirely confused over what had just happened. This did little to deter him as he jumped back up and stood up straight with his shoulders back, the size of her, in fact she was just like a brown Leon, meant he needed to be friends with her and he spoke again as she ambled off to try and sate her hunger.

One that he wasn't aware she had.

"Who're you?" Instead of actually speaking the words properly he abbreviated. He was a boy of time, time meant money (or in this case it meant valuable assets) and he wanted to make sure that he could gather assets before any true politics were formed in the land. The current creation of such groups he was not aware of but he intended to be prepared.

if you want me to remove the minor powerplay of Louie bumping into her I can <3

RE: {emerging} to a sky full of stars - Giada - May 14 2015

It took only seconds for the cub to start nosing the ground - instinct was a powerful force, refined and developed over generations. Though she was in the era of gembounds, the impulses still guided her actions. She had noticed Louie, but had not payed too much attention to the animal. Child's mind could only occupy a few simple tasks at a time. Littering the floor lay a few cragged rocks, which were commonplace for most creatures yet foreign to the hatchling. Once taking notice of the objects beneath her, the wobbly cub lowered her neck to them and tasted the rocks with her tongue.

Not edible, she realized. Suddenly hearing a noise from the other creature, she turned to him in surprise. The sound was like the one she had made earlier, but different. There were words. Pausing everything she was doing, her rounded ears quickly swiveled forward, her attention fully homed onto the fox. Slowly she unhinged her jaws and loped straight towards the male. It was not intended to be threatening, however one might perceive her actions as such due to the suddenness of it.

As a newly emerged and having no respect for boundaries yet, she practically tried to get up in Louie's face. Although she was not yet familiar with her prey instinct, eventually her hunger could drive her to experiment.

In this moment, however, all Giada cared about was making her boisterous voice known. "Gaahhh, gah, giahh!" Came the loud yet pathetic cries of the bear cub; it was just the first attempt at words but it was likely to make any creature surprised at her outburst. Though the cub was darn determined to answer the stranger's question. "Giadaaa." After the last attempt, she gave a snort of approval and raised herself from her quads. Then raised a paw to her chest. "Giada."That was her name. Giada.

Now it appeared the confused Gembound was interested in eating a rock? Cocking an eyebrow, he backed up a few more steps. Those jaws were huge, but when Gaida's attention was turned to him, those fangs still openly visible to the public, he cringed inwardly and took a big gasp for air without meaning to. Fucking hell he could be sliced in half by something that was only born mere minutes ago. Not wanting to elude to his discomfort, he narrowed his eyes further. Making friends with her would be difficult of all things. Didn't look like she really needed his help after all.

Hot breath on his skin as she leaned down to get up close with him, he was screaming to do something to defend himself. Bite her nose or do a glancing scratch to the side of her face. Anything to stop her from consuming him. She began to try and speak, the noises were jumbled but it was obvious she was trying to say something. A name perhaps. It was loud, it was enough to make him whine slightly and the control of his bladder was gone. It was by chance that he hadn't drunk anything in a while so there was nothing to expel. Fear was evidently written across his face as he shivered.

Gaida. A strong powerful name. Rising onto her back legs, he tried to scramble up the rock behind him.

In a few kicks, he was on the top of the rock, now up to the belly of the bear as she scratched her chest. Not much improvement in terms of height gained but it was enough to make him feel a little bit more comfortable over this. "I'm Louie." Not really sure what else to say, he hesitated before continuing, "Hungry?" If he could catch prey for the bear maybe that would get him on her good side.

RE: to a sky full of stars - Giada - May 15 2015

Finding herself drawn to the other gembound like a cat to a mouse, an open-jawed grin appeared on her jowl. How she was just itching to paw and grapple at the other being, but unfortunately all her keen advances all seemed to result in him crouching and moving away.

Being the only other gembound she's ever seen, she was paying close attention to him, more than she probably would have to anyone else, which didn't spell out good news for Louie. Mirrored in her deep copper pools was his reflection, as she had locked her stare upon him. She was trying to figure out what to make of him. The odors of the environment were dank and tinged with a slight muskiness but in the fox she sensed heat and life rising from his core, a sharp contrast to the rest of her surroundings.

Giada observed him clamber onto the rock, and again, short sounds came out as he spoke. Louie. That was the name he bestowed on himself, like Giada had done just moments before. Tilting her head the umber bear heavily descended back to all fours. "Louie." Came the guttural growl. Her tongue naturally swiped the outside of her muzzle, flashing pearly ivories. "Hungry!" A rumble resonated on cue, attesting to her response.

Being watched so intently, his fur being raked over by the dark amber eyes that could see deep into one's soul, caused him to shiver once again. Easily the same size as Leon, he doubted she was as friendly as he. It appeared she was more primal than anything else and this concerned him. Until she could function as a proper Gembound, with manners and rules, he couldn't trust her not to eat him. Though could anyone really be trusted in the pitch darkness that was this horrifying world. Steeling himself, she repeated his name and he had to admit it sounded so much more powerful coming from her maw.

Agreeing to his statement of hunger, the small fox nodded once and jumped down the side of the ledge he had just placed himself on. Time to see if he would be able to catch something to slightly abate her hunger. Relying only on his sense of smell, he picked around the edges of the crumbling buildings. Mice were a common feature and he hoped that maybe one of those would put him on good standings with her. Louie stuck his nose in every gap before he found his quarry. A fat rat.

Immediately, he attempted to clamp his jaws down on it before it could escape...

hot blood entered his mouth. It carried the familiar stench of the red liquid that had surrounded Fisher but he knew what it was now. It was the life force of every living creature and as a carnivore it was his right to extinguish it in order to propel himself forwards and keep himself alive. Managing to squeeze his head out of the gap, he triumphantly returned to the waiting grizzly bear, dropping the small kill in front of her and taking a step back. It wasn't much. But he hoped it would provide some relief. Enough to keep him safe and possibly end up on her good side.

RE: to a sky full of stars - Giada - May 20 2015

Giada's attention held onto the gembound’s actions, still watching every move he made. The fox stepped so lightly. Different from her own lumbering strides, his pads scantily made a sound even as he swiftly disappeared behind the corners of the shambled buildings. Suddenly alarmed, her nostrils flared as she realized she had lost sight of him. Where did he go? It was impossible to use her vision to see, as he had been engulfed by darkness. Now upset, she rose back to her bipedal state and silently looked out into the pitch black chamber.

The grizzly bear was quite a simple creature, driven by urges and impulses. Tendencies made her not only difficult to reason with, she also concerned herself only with what stood in front of her. As soon as she realized she couldn’t find him, she became content to wander the area. In the short amount of time that Louie was gone, she investigated the rubble of collapsed structures.

When he returned her eyes locked on his carried bundle, proudly visible in his teeth. Ears perked, she immediately moved forward. Oh, and now it’s on the ground. Bending her neck, the bear’s large shoulders shifted with each stride until she came upon the dead rat. Giada’s charcoal nose found itself against the prey, turning it up with her snout so that it’s belly faced her.

With prey being a new concept for the young bear she noticed the rat was not animated like herself, and soon figured out that it was dead. What exactly death was, she was not sure. It still carried a distinctive musky scent; she could only describe it as a pungent animal-odor. However a more powerful smell easily oppressed the rat’s body - blood. Pupil‘s dilated, excitement triggered through her body to awake the most carnal demands of her brain.

She wrapped her muzzle around the rat’s upper torso, voraciously sinking her jagged teeth into its skin. Pulling back, neck arched, she ripped a large piece of pink-red meat right off the creature. As metallic liquid surged into her taste buds her right paw held down the food while she ravaged it into chunks. It took no time for her to swallow the savory meat and within seconds, Giada was feeding upon the rat’s other half like a hungered shark. Everything else Giada had done before was unrivaled compared to this. This was what she was meant to do - she was meant to eat.

After she was finished with her meal not a trace remained of the creature, save for a few droplets of the crimson iron-tasting blood. Giada had eaten the rat's bones and all. Opening her jaws, her pink tongue swiped over pearly canines in a satisfied manner. With something in her belly, her hunger was eased. She found eating to be an incredible sensation, one that she never though she'd ever get tired of.

Now, she sat herself onto the ground, legs splayed out in front of her. She was more relaxed now and sniffed the ground where the rat had been before. Giada moved her amber gaze to see what Louie was doing.

RE: to a sky full of stars - Louie - May 25 2015

Slightly proud of himself for feeding the beast, he watched her as she plonked herself on the ground and just sniffed around. So it appeared she was non-verbal for the most part but that suited him. She didn't need to be an extremely proficient speaker for him to want to be her friend. All she needed was the size she carried at the moment. "Better?" Knowing full well that she was better, he wondered what else he could do to progress this conversation. It was sort of awkward actually and he flattened his ears, looking away from her slightly.

"Do you have a place to go?" Now he met her eyes full on, his crystalline gem was balanced almost dangerous underneath his chin. It was small, but it was enough to be easily ripped off if someone wished to. Actually, it did make him wonder where hers was if she did have one. He hadn't really explored the hypothesis that all who emerged from the chrysalis' were given one. "Want to come with me?" This was certainly the first few steps to forming the Merrymen but he wasn't sure if she would come. If she said no, that'd be a considerable loss but he wasn't too concerned. This was only a thought, and if it did turn into something they were only just starting out after all.

RE: to a sky full of stars - Giada - May 25 2015

Giada simply nodded her head to Louie because she wasn’t aware of the awkward lack of conversation. Tilting her head at his next words, she pondered the question by fixating herself with the gem under his jaw. A shiny jewel that she didn't see before. The bear hadn’t even thought about leaving and let alone know of anywhere else she could go.

When he asked if she wanted to come with him, her gaze lifted and the bear felt her stomach bubble up with excitement.

As the first gembound she has ever met, she was inexplicably attached to the little fox. She was not a moral creature by nature, so their meeting was one that was perhaps for the good of Origin Cave. Because she felt a sense of loyalty to Louie, at that moment he was the only one who could keep the young bear in check. Giada didn’t yet realize this was the beginning of a friendship, but she did know she was willing to follow him wherever. “Okay.”

Actually, rather surprised at her agreement in going he blinked a few times at her. Without actually meaning to, he burst into a huge grin, flashing all his own teeth and his tail twitched in enjoyment, but he put a silencer on this affectionate display as he opted for a more, serious look, "I can teach how to hunt as well, but we should go to somewhere I know is a great place to be alright?" Seeing as this was before he had even found Monoceros, he was only taking a guess that he would find somewhere suitable for his little group.

"I'll keep you safe." nodding to her and to reassure himself that this would work, Louie began to slowly make his way through the starry ceiling room.

ooc; do you want to have another thread in Monoceros?
Also I'm guessing Giada would want to join Louie's group? or would you rather she stay a free agent :3
