RE: ready to break free - Lucifer - May 16 2015 Lucifer had never been anywhere so windy before! Inside this giant cavern, the torrents of wind nearly bowled him over once or twice, and he had to splay his long legs out wide to keep his balance, the way he’d had to when he had first learned to walk. He was following a sound… the loud clack! clack! he had heard from afar, as if something heavy and hard was being rammed into the stone floor of the Origin Cave. Lucifer, ever the adventurer, had been trying to pinpoint the noise for the last few minutes, but that was difficult to do, considering almost everything in this giant room was the same color. How was he supposed to differentiate anything? As he walked, he began to wonder if the wind would blow out his Glow… Ever since he had discovered his Inner Light, he had taken every opportunity to use it, even when it served no purpose. And here was another opportunity, though this time he was doing it to answer a question. But he hadn’t done it yet… Sometimes it worked and others it didn’t. He’d just have to see if it did this time… After only a second or two, he felt his Magic come forth, and the Glow coated his body in Light. Then, he waited… Another gust of wind came along and blew against him, and when it was over, he was still Glowing! With a smile, he continued on his way. That answered that question. But what was this? Something caught between two big rocks had attracted his golden eyes. He changed direction slightly and soon found himself peering at a giant dusty oval-shaped rock stuck between two boulders. So what had caught his eye? The rock looked like any other rock in the cave. It was brown and dusty and – wait! There! There was a glimmer of color beneath the dirt! He drew closer, letting his Glow help him see. Yes! There was a beautiful multitude of colors hidden in plain sight upon this otherwise dirty rock. And as he stared at it, it moved… RE: ready to break free - Billy - May 16 2015
RE: ready to break free - Lucifer - May 16 2015 It was… an egg, Lucifer realized with a smile. Someone was emerging from their chrysalis, just as he had not too long ago. He was witnessing someone’s birth! Even as young as he was, he knew how special this moment was. He wanted to help the Gembound inside somehow, but he knew there was nothing he could do. This was something the creature would have to do by itself, whatever it was. He was excited to learn what shape it took. Would it have horns and hooves like him? Or would it be furry and soft like Saudade? Oh, he was so excited he was shaking! Suddenly, Lucifer felt the ground tremble. At first it was slight and he barely noticed it, but then it grew stronger and stronger, and little pebbles and rocks around him began to hop all over the ground, and some of the smaller pebbles just disintegrated into dust! What was happening? The bigger rock egg was also trembling. He backed away just a little bit, unsure of the situation and not really wanting to be too close to something that could shatter at any moment. But it didn’t shatter. It split open, right down the middle, and out popped the newborn Gembound! Soon afterwards, the trembling stopped, and he could relax again, taking in the little… ibex. Yes, that’s what she was. He watched with a kind and gentle smile as she took in everything around her, knowing the feeling of curiosity well. Eventually, she looked at him. He ducked his head in greeting, letting out a soft, “Hello.” Other than that, he wasn’t quite sure what to say. He had never seen a newborn before. Her little horns were only nubs, sort of like his, though his were already antlers, and the diamond they were made of shined and sparkled in his Glow, which was now slowly fading. He leaned down and nudged her a little with his nose, as Saudade had done to him. “Time to get up,” he said gently. RE: ready to break free - Billy - May 18 2015
RE: ready to break free - Lucifer - May 26 2015 Lucifer watched with a curious expression as the little Deer-Thing attempted to stand on shaky legs. He almost laughed. It was like watching himself the day he was born, on the same shaky legs. Interesting that now he was taking the role of Saudade. The She-Deer-Thing swayed a bit, almost looking like she was going to fall over, and Lucifer quickly bent his giant face down and attempted to hold her up a little, at least so she wouldn’t fall if she lost her balance. But in a moment, she seemed to figure out how to stay upright so he pulled away again. Then she spoke – quite stiltedly and with a small voice – but the word Hello did escape her mouth. He smiled at her. “Hello,” he repeated, both because he didn’t know what to say and because he wanted her to be exposed to language as quickly as possible. He remembered with a shudder how frustrating it had been to pick up language. He watched as she studied him, standing there patiently, making sure to stick close to her in case she fell – And fall she did! He let out a surprised bleating sound, and bent down his neck to nudge her face gently, hoping she wasn’t hurt. She didn’t seem hurt. She kind of just… kept staring up at him. “You okay?” he asked, even though she probably didn’t understand him… RE: ready to break free - Billy - May 27 2015
RE: ready to break free - Lucifer - May 27 2015 Lucifer watched as she forced herself back to her hooves and sort of moved around a little, noting that her eyes were still glazed. Hmm… She admitted to being tired, but okay, and that’s when he decided. He had taken it upon himself to look after this newborn, and he would. And if she was tired, then he didn’t see any reason for her to push herself. That was asking for trouble. He lay down as best he could on the rocky cave floor and looked up at her. “You wanna sleep? You can rest for a while. I won’t leave.” He gave her a smile, trying to show her that it was all right. He understood that she probably wanted to explore, but it was good to take breaks, too. But he couldn’t make her. If she decided she didn’t want to rest, he’d just have to follow her around and make sure she didn’t hurt herself. He was a natural follower, not meant to be a leader, but he couldn’t help but want to look after others. Perhaps one day in the future he would be a great father because of that… But only time would tell. |
