the spar - Azazel (Original) - May 14 2015 more sau and aza shenanigans yay Saudade was growing fast, The Bonebound were great, Krakarak was hoarding shinies, Bravo was building his bone fort, and life was good. Azazel lay on a perch that he had found high up in The Chambers. Azazel hadn't noticed the labyrinth of walls and high stalagmites before, and when he did, he deemed it to be a perfect place to nest. Gathering some bones and leathery bits that were unknowingly remnants of human clothing, the bird had created a haphazardly built nest to sleep in. It was pretty soft, but the bird could do better. Some day he'd find something softer for it... perhaps moss or some of those glowy mushrooms! Yes! He had to go get some of those! That'd make it look perfect. Standing up in his little nest, the bird flapped his wings a few times, diving down toward the floor of Canis. Gleefully, the bird chirped, doing a barrel roll before snapping out his appendages. Flying was so fun! Why didn't more do this? Why couldn't every Gembound be blessed with wings? He had pressure magic. Perhaps he could give them wings of air... of fire? Of water? Oh the possibilities! Carmine orbs flickered and shimmered between pillars of stone and iron oxide, the bird searching for glowing mushrooms that lay about. Of course, he couldn't see that well in the darkness, so he'd use his pressure magic once more as a guide. Recently, he had discovered how to make the parts of air vibrate and make noise, then use that to move around in the caves. The vibrations reverberated off everything and always came back to Azazel. This was echolocation, but Azazel didn't know what it was called, of course. Flapping his wings hard and long, the bird hummed in his chest, hoping this would allow him to use it. A low hum followed his attempt, scattering in all directions and guiding The Bone King through the labyrinth. It faded eventually, but the few seconds that it lasted was all that Azazel needed. Landing with some audible clicks of talons on the floor, the abe waddled toward glowing mycelia. Yes... These were soft. Reaching out to touch one, he stroked the soft caps. Yes, these would work fine. "Speech" RE: the spar - Saudade - May 14 2015 He was learning as quickly as he grew. Every inch he grew taller meant another volume added to the codices of his mind. His noggin housed knowledge from various figures and various encounters and various scenes. He thrived on this acquisition of experience. And he thrived on figuring out who and what he was. He felt proud that he found his name and he felt proud that he had learned to walk so well. He felt that he was beginning to learn more about how to wish – and what his wishes were and were not. His 'wishes' were not just wishes. They were something inside him, something deep within that could be manifested outwardly. These manifestations were a part of who he was, a deep and carnal part that could not be erased... but could be shaped. He thought that maybe it was already becoming shaped. Those he met along the way would change him - the she that he now knew as a 'deer' had. From her he acquired the ability to create small stars... a talent he shared with a dog. But what came more naturally to him was something that already occupied his heart and his being... something... darker, quieter, lonelier. Saudade believed his magic could be dangerous. Remembering what happened at the throne he knew he would need to refine his abilities. And that in doing so he wouldn't just gain control of them, but he'd learn more of himself. His real self and why the name Saudade was his and his alone. Life was mysterious and he was eager to acquaint himself with the nuances of it... But the 'spiritual' stuff could wait. First... He grinned like a fox, leaning down to scoop up a bone... //roll And the moment his teeth touched the smooth surface of the bone light began to bleed onto it. From the place his teeth clenched to the outward edges of the shape, warm light swallowed it whole. And it glowed, beautifully, alluringly, fascinatingly. With his plan set he dropped the bone and swatted it out into the open, right before the nest Aza'zel had taken up. Crouching down behind a pile of bones and rubble Saudade waited... knowing the he had selected bait that would be utterly irresistible to the ave. RE: the spar - Azazel (Original) - May 15 2015 It was the glowshrooms that Azazel was purely engrossed in. He'd flapped his wings and now hovered above the fungal growth, plucking off long stalks of them, leaving plenty left so that the room was still illuminated. Much to his chagrin, however, as soon as the mushrooms left their host, the glow dimmed to nothing. Dropping the collection he had started, Azazel dropped to the floor, scowling. Carmine eyes glared at the mushrooms, waving a clawed foot at it. Stupid mushrooms! He could have had a cool lamp! It was something else that caught his attention. A hollow CLUNK! caused the ave's skull to whirl about. What he saw was glorious. A bone so smooth and glistening like ivory. He swore it glowed, and he was not daunted by the sudden appearance of it. It was just so holy and beautiful. A squawk of sheer joy and delight escaped the ave's beak as he hopped excitedly over to it. A foot reached out to it, stroking the smooth surface. Out with those mushrooms, this was the new lantern that would complete his nest! But before he moved it... he wanted to stare at it a little more. It was so mesmerizing! "Speech" RE: the spar - Saudade - May 15 2015 If the wolf didn't know that being quiet was important, he might have cackled at the squawk of his friend. Instead he settled for a little wag of his tail, a little grin on his lips, and a look of utter deviousness in his yellowy eyes. Seeing his plan be executed perfectly, he reveled in seeing the results. Azazel wouldn't even see what hit him! Stalking forward, Saudade swallowed the distance between them with long legs quietly, focused on the task at hand. When he was barely a yard or two away, Saudade moved to strike! Saudade leaped for Azazel. ----------------- Round: 1/5 Attempt: Coming from behind, Saudade is attempting to leap onto Azazel's back. Defense: None, beyond using the shadows and Azazel's distraction with the bauble as a distraction. Injuries: None RE: the spar - Azazel (Original) - May 17 2015 Engrossed too much in the bone, he shook himself. Blinking quietly, the bird put both talons on the bone, possibly a femur, and began to flap his wings, completely unaware of one approaching... a familiar face looking to have some fun. It was the faint woosh! of wind that turned the bird's head. A large and tall orange blur shot toward him, lunging for the bird. The bird squawked, flapping his wings multiple times to scoot the bone away from him. Ducking down, he was barely grazed by his assailant. Carmine eyes flickered up, registering the tall frame of a certain Bonebound. "Saudade." He chuckled. So he wanted to spar? Azazel had never fought another before, but this would be fun. Feet spread apart and muscles loosened, hoping to absorb any shock if Saudade tried anything. Feathers ruffled to make him seem bigger and to help deflect any bites. Surely the vulpine creature wouldn't want a taste of his feathers. No sir! Shoulders of his wings rolled forwards, and so he was ready in just a few seconds. Calling upon his magicka, the bird gathered molecules of the atmopshere about his wings, the particles clinging to his feathers. Once he felt he had a sufficient amount, the bird breathed in deeply. He hoped to the gods above that this worked. Snapping his wings forwards to release what could be a big enough gust to blow Saudade away, he hoped for the best. "Speech"
RE: the spar - Saudade - May 23 2015 The wolf audibly growled, annoyed with himself more than anything else by the foolish mistakes he made. Azazel had been right there! It shouldn't have been that difficult to tackle a distracted bird, and missing him so completely was a deep bruise to Saudade's young ego. He would have to do better. True to his name, the mane of the young maned wolf flared. Just as Azazel made himself appear bigger with fluffed feathers, fluffed fur made Saudade seem bigger and fuller than his lanky, skinny body was. Except. Looking bigger wasn't the same as being bigger. The gust blown by Azazel was more than enough to move a bag of skin and bones (the perfect descriptor of Saudade at this age). Digging his claws into the ground, Saudade lowered himself to the ground as he began to feel himself being picked up by the gust. Digging in as he attempted to, his nails left scratch marks in the rocks and an audible 'screech' as he was moved. The moment he felt the wind recede he charged again, bounding forward with renewed vigor. It looked like another direct attack until, at the last moment, he feinted right and attempted to leap sideways onto Azazel's back once again. ----------------- Round: 2/5 Attempt: Charging forward, feinting right, and attempting to leap on Azazel's back from the right (Az's left side). Defense: Fluffed mane, running lower to the ground. Injuries: None RE: the spar - Azazel (Original) - May 23 2015 His pressure magicka served him well, the bird having moved the vulpine creature away from him. The gangly boy would slide away, but now his bruised ego allowed for more potential in this spar. Which made Azazel happy. He loved a good challenge! Scooting the bone further away from him, the ave continued to watch Saudade in the darkness, keen eyes following his every move. The boy would appear from the darkness, the pounding of paws echoing in the chambers. But then the creature disappeared. Whirling his head about a moment too late, the bird found himself pinned down by the shoulders. Carmine eyes glanced up to see the hazel-eyed Gembound looming over him, and Azazel kind of laughed a little. It was a light one, meant to tell him 'nice!'. But he wouldn't let him win that easily! Beneath the boy, talons curled up and he twisted onto his back as far as he could. Wings spread wide across, the floor, and he felt he had a wide berth. Thrusting his feet forth, he hoped his talons would be able to deliver a decent little punch to Saudade's ribs above him, and get him to move just enough so he could escape. Even if he missed, the bird would scramble off in attempts to escape. "Speech"
RE: the spar - Saudade - May 24 2015 He felt a rush of excitement with his 'victory'. And then utter confusion. His plan hadn't gone much further than getting Azazel to the ground. What was he supposed to do now? He didn't want to use his teeth to hurt his friend. And he didn't want to use his claws for the same reason. Chomping on Azazel was out of the question. What a wolf did to prey was not something one did to a friend - this sort of restraint Saudade had in mind when he initiated the brawl. So... what now? Whatever time he would have taken to contemplate his next action evaporated as Azazel maneuvered beneath him. Tentatively (half-heartedly, rather) Saudade shifted to keep himself ontop of the ave, cordial to the fact he could accidentally break a 'delicate' wing bone. Or were they delicate? Maybe bird's were hardier than he assumed...? His tail lifted and he kept his legs grounded, spreading out his weight to keep his balance. And then much to his chagrin, he yelped. Feeling clawed feet peck at him, the attack startled more than succeed in pushing Saudade off. Scoffing aloud, the wolf set his feet upon the 'elbows' of the bird's wings and began to nip at the talons. That seemed perfectly reasonable, right? ----------------- Round: 3/5 Attempt: Holding Az down by wing elbows + nipping at his feet. He isn't aiming to maim (If that's important to note or not, I'm not sure) Defense: Feet spread and tail lifted for balance. Injuries: EGO BRUISE X2. Actually Az's claws likely left some scratches, not that Sau has noticed yet. RE: the spar - Azazel (Original) - May 24 2015 The maned wolf simply did not stay away from his post, and Azazel grunted in effort and frustration. Saudade had gotten a lot heavier since he had hatched. The gangly boy weighed a little more than the bird, now, and he wasn’t that strong. Carmine eyes glanced up at the boy, taking note of the fact that he seemed to be thinking. Maybe he hadn’t thought this through. He chirped beneath the other Gembound, watching as he would raise his front paws. Snapping his wings to his side, he avoided the vulpine’s attempts to pin him down by the elbows of his wings. Tucking his feet, he’d narrowly miss a nip to his talons. So he wanted to play that game, biting each other’s toes. Rufous head twisted to allow the bird to shift to his right side, scooting a little out of Saudade’s invisible grip { well, not that he had a grip on him at all. } Giving no warning, the bird opened up his beak and would attempt to nip the vulpine Gembound’s toes with the tip of his beak. Even if he didn’t manage to land a few bites to his digits, the ave would flail his wings and talons to scramble away from his temporary foe. Well, he’d try. If he managed to get away, he’d run toward his prize, the glowing bone, and land atop it. Maybe he could repurpose it as a weapon… just for a little bit. "Speech"
RE: the spar - Saudade - May 25 2015 A bird was surprisingly nimble even on the ground. They could move faster than what he'd assume, particularly when it came to their feet and their wings. And their beak! Saudade was shocked when turnabout became fair play. Yanking his paws away from the clipping beak that aimed for his feet, a look of confusion (and displeasure) warped his young features. Beaks could hurt! In his frenzy to avoid the nips (which were only half successful, more than one knuckle on his paw got nommed) Saudade fell onto his ass and the avian slipped out from beneath him and began high-tailing (waddling?) it towards... The bone. Grinning despite himself and seeing the comedic effect in Azazel's priorities, Saudade picked himself back up and bounded after his friend. Perhaps this wasn't really a brawl as much as it was a game of keep away. The wolf aimed to pounce again, this time aiming for the upper shoulders of the very upright bird. Hitting him there should send them both tumbling, right? ----------------- Round: 4/5 Attempt: Pouncing on Az AGAINZ. This time with the aim to send them both tumbling and rolling together (away/passed the bone). Defense: None. Injuries: EGO BRUISE X2 (round 1) Scratches on chest (round 2) Aches/bruises on paws (round3) |
