Filled with determination - Destiny - May 19 2016 The little creature's aching feet begged her to turn back, as did her burning throat. Hard stone was getting boring, and uncomfortable, but she'd come so far that she worried home would be too far for her. So she could just keep walking, and hope that water wasn't too far away. The caves had gotten so lonely recently... she'd found a few friends who'd lifted her spirits through the roof, only for the fog to clear, and then she was alone again. Still, there was hope now! She wouldn't be alone forever, and she knew that she'd find someone if she just looked for them! Piece by piece, determination pushed her on. Stone became soft moss beneath her, a sensation she much preferred, and as she lifted her gaze from the ground, she found herself in a place she'd never seen before. Flicking her head, she tried to push back the little flower crown on her brow, only for it to fall over her eyes. After few seconds spent readjusting it, the little lady finally was able to take in the spectacle. Trees, flowers, grasses... as far as the eye could see! Her bill was agape, her eyes round and shining with rainbows. She'd stopped in her tracks, and it was her thirst that drew her attention back to reality along with a familiar, twinging headache that threatened to give way to another migraine. She stood stock still as she waited for the pain to go away. Through it all though, Destiny knew that wherever there was foliage like this, there had to be water somewhere. @Louie RE: Filled with determination - Louie - May 19 2016
Haze was clouding his thoughts, his breathing was ragged and his inhalations were painful as they scraped down his throat. Odd eyes unseeing as he stumbled into the thick foliage of Eridanus. Louie wasn't sure why he had sunken so slow so quickly. After having spoken with Fisher, he had had a goal. A path in which he wished to undertake, but he still felt sick to his stomach as though the turmoil had never truly resolved. Coming back here was painful in itself, within the thick underbrush, the one eyed male made his home. This was an off-limits area. They had left on uneasy terms and in doing so, had essentially sealed the fate of their star crossed love. It shouldn't hurt him as much as it did, their relationship was sick and twisted. Push and pull as Louie took out his own problems on the weaker male. But it hurt, a lot, and that was why he found himself stumbling here once again. Whether or not he actually wanted to see him he couldn't quite be sure. There was another here, and he spotted the oddity of an animal poking her way through. Absorbed by the beauty of the landscape, that the fox forever overlooked. When he spoke, his voice was raspy, almost a whisper, "Still overly impressed by something like this?" the male snorted as he tracked closer to the platypus female. "Glad you still kept your sense of wonder." Studying her, he noted her look of pain but said nothing on the matter as his lips pursed. "DO NOT FORGET WHO I AM" RE: Filled with determination - Destiny - May 19 2016 Destiny started partly in shock, and partly in glee as suddenly, out of seemingly nowhere, there was a voice. Her vision had blurred in recent time, maybe that was why she hadn't noticed the newcomer... but it took her a moment of swinging her head to find the other amongst all the mosses and leaves. "Oh, hallo!" she greeted gleefully, opening her bill into a wide smile as they finally came within her field of view. "Of c-c-course! I've never seen anywhere so g-green!" The little platypus focused on the stranger and turned to face them, dark-stained spikes of opal flashing hopefully. She either seemed not to notice, or simply ignored the contempt in the fox's voice, seeming just happy to not be all on her own. "S-sorry if this is uncalled for, b-but... would you happen to know if there's, ah, any water nearb-by?" she stammered meekly after a short while. If her webbed feet and podgy body weren't enough of a giveaway that she was a water creature, perhaps her sheer thirst would be. Maybe it'd help her headache, too! She didn't wanna look like a killjoy, though, so as she waited for a response she nervously shuffled her webbed paws. "The name's D-D-Destiny... By the way." she added, bowing even lower to the ground than she already was in a far from elegant display. @Louie RE: Filled with determination - Louie - May 26 2016
Appraising the platypus, her exclamation as she startled was returned by a bemused look. That happy smile, the joy that seemed to radiate off her rattled him. It was eerie and almost a foreign gesture. No one smiled with such honesty. "True enough, greenery is not exactly what the caves are known for. This south-east quadrant seems to be filled with more life than anywhere in my neck of the woods." Monoceros was literally a hole with a tornado smack in the middle of it. Sandstone and rock were the only features of the desolate biome. Next she asked of water, immediately he thought of the eyes. To drink from them however may bring about misfortune. Sickness, curses. They were not merely a source of hydration, but rather a portal. At least that's how he saw them. Large bodies of water terrified him anyway, even the pools were enough to keep him at bay. "Creeks flow nearby, they connect to the pools known as The Eyes." Wow. He was actually being reasonable. Good on you Louie. "From your webbed paws, I can tell that you're an aquatic sort no? Fascinating" The fox stalked closer, the scowl lessening on his face as he leaned down to sniff at the tiny creature. "DO NOT FORGET WHO I AM" @Destiny RE: Filled with determination - Destiny - May 26 2016 Opening her bill into a polite smile, the platypus' rainbow eyes met those of the fox for a moment. "Uh-huh!" She grinned broadly, giving a nod of her heavy, spiked head. Dizziness came over her for a moment, and she swayed unsteadily before looking back up at the other. "I've seen mosses before, and the occasional grass, but nothing like this! It's so beautiful here..." she crooned. "Maybe even more than Polaris. That's where I live! the lights in there are beeaautiful... Have you ever seen them?" the platypus closed her eyes slowly, before opening them again. Destiny listened intently to the fox's brisk explanation and gave a little grunt of acknowledgement. "D-d-do you think you can p-point the way?" she asked, not wanting to feel like a bother. It'd be rude to ask someone she'd only just met to lead her there, of all things. "The Eyes is a pretty weird name for some p-p-pools. Are they real eyes?" Destiny sounded awed by the thought. And then she gave another nod- a small one this time, so that she didn't give herself a headache. "Why, y-yes! I'm a p-plat'pus, I think." she gave a small chuckle and looked down at the aforementioned paws. "It's been a bit since I found any water though... I'm pretty thirsty." she explained. "I jus' got lonely is all. It's nice to finally meet someone out here!" Destiny was genuinely happy to find someone here. The beauty meant so much more when it was shared! @Louie |
