COLD and COLD and COLD - Merrow - May 19 2016

Who put all this ice here? Merrow had managed to glide-squirm out of the muddy place of Cetus into a brand new world. Now four cycles old, the dragon was at her absolute prime. Nearly six feet in length and soaked in-- now freezing-- mud, the furry, scaly hybrid let out a rumbling growl at the windy tunnel. This place was hell itself for a bat-reptile of her stature.

And while the first time she slid across the ice was a moment of wonder, (moving on the ground had never been so much fun) she was quickly learning that it was simply too cold. She felt sluggish, almost sick, and she was starting to get frustrated. The tunnel had many branches, and she was absolutely, stupidly, lost.

With a roar, she tried to summon some heat into her bones. Anything to keep the cold away before ice coalesced on her scales.

... And immediately, her magic exploded inside of her. Flames boiled and burned under her scales and fur, rolling through her insides. The pain was sharp-- not necessarily fatal for her magic had yet to be honed-- and hardly warming. Instead, she was two sharp differences: Burned internally, frozen externally.

Promptly, the massive, dragon-like beast began to wail and screech, thrashing about in a temper tantrum in response.

RE: COLD and COLD and COLD - Imperia - May 20 2016

Imperia
What's this? Someone who doesn't know how to use their magic?
Well, I suppose I'll have to show them how it's done.

Imperia had spent some of their time in Polaris, but even the prettiest lights begin to grow boring. There was hardly anything to burn there! So they moved on elsewhere, now finding themselves in a tunnel. This tunnel had lots of ice, which chilled Imperia. Perhaps they could burn some stuff here, make it not so cold? They quite liked that idea. While their paws were still slightly cracked from the time they burnt something the first time, they were excited to feel the heat on their paws again.

However, before they could do anything, they heard someone wailing. Flicking their tail, they followed the sound until they came upon someone else. Imperia blinked. What was this...creature? They looked partially like a bat, but also something else. They weren't sure what. Faintly, the young caracal could smell smoke. Was there fire nearby? Had this creature used fire magic, just as they do?

Whatever they had done, it had failed, it seemed. They were thrashing around, screaming and causing quite a ruckus. It annoyed Imperia, and they narrowed their eyes. Maybe it'd be up to them to show them how to truly cast their spell, since this creature didn't seem to know how.

Before too long, heat began to emanate from Imperia's paws. It didn't come from many other places, since it wasn't a very strong spell, but it was there. They stared defiantly at the creature, a flash of victory showing in their eyes. They had done it. Nearby, some of the ice began to melt. They stared at the creature, waiting, watching for what they would do next.

Merrow froze as something caught her attention in the corner of her vision. Despite the blazing pain throughout her body, she immediately forgot all about her misstep, as though she was an amnesiac. Her attention locked on the stranger... Some kind of cat. A black tongue slipped from her squashed in face, her beady eyes glistening with malice.

The feline stood proudly before her, flame licking from her paws, melting the ice nearby. It wasn't a gesture of friendship, an offer of help-- but even if it had, Merrow wouldn't have seen it that way in the first place. She knew a challenge when she saw it.

She also knew a meal when she saw it.

Her jaws parted and she let out a mighty roar-- a mix between a screeching squeal and a deep, rumbling bellow-- her tail lashing behind her and smacking into a wall. With a hefty push, she slid forward on the ice, spreading her wings. With a single flap, her body leaped the gap between them, and she immediately summoned all the magic she had at her command.

... Which, honestly, wasn't a lot. But, with a giant furry-sort of alligator lunging at full speed towards the pesky cat, maybe the other gembound would get the message.

I'M GONNA GET'CHA!

Imperia
That's no way to greet someone.
Oh wait, yes it is.

Imperia flicked her tail as she saw the malice in the other's eyes. She just lifted her head higher, staring defiantly. Her eyes narrowed upon hearing the loud roar, and she tensed. Nearly immediately, the strange creature lunged at her and her eyes widened in surprise and she let out a yelp as she landed on her. Grunting, she scowled at the gembound above her.

"Well, that's certainly a way to greet someone." She struggled to get out from under her, but the other was bigger and stronger than she was, much to her resentment. She glared up at her, trying to appear as threatening as possible.

"Listen to me."

Merrow's instincts told her to eat. This foul feline was haunting her, tormenting her in the cold of Tunnel H. If she ate the fiery feline, she would be less cold-- but the damned thing spoke to her without even a hint of fear. Merrow considered snapping her needle like teeth into the frisky cat and tearing her to shreds, but the indignanty of having the thing not even afraid of her-- nor attacking her back-- was enough to send her hissing and snarling.

"BAD!" She snapped, tail thwapping against the ground behind them. "BAD! FOOD!" The gembound rumbled and huffed, wanting more of a game out of the fluffy meat. She snapped at open air-- as though she had missed her mark--, twisting and turning into a death roll away from Imperia.

Merrow slid to a stop a fair distance away from the creature before twisting on herself, baring her needle-like teeth at Imperia. Where was her flame, her fire? She was going to burn the cat alive and make a tasty snack out of her yet!

"MERROW BURN, MERROW SNAP, MERROW EAT!" She declared her stance, spreading her wings in a threatening display of her size. "FIGHT!"

Imperia
Fine. You want a fight?
Have a fight.

Imperia growled and heaved herself up as the creature got off. "I am not food to you, or to anyone," she grunted, tail tip flicking. She stared as her wings opened, extending into a large wingspan. Imperia crouched down, tensing her muscles, preparing for...something. "Alright. You want a fight? Have a fight."

Imperia called upon her magic, hoping to use fire to start this battle. Soon, she felt heat licking at her paws. She grinned, and leaped toward the creature, paws outstretched, hoping to burn her. Her eyes held a gleam, a feeling of satisfaction. She was finally battling something!

The hybrid who was convinced she was a dragon began to guffaw as the feline said that it wasn't anyone's food. Silly thing! Merrow would eat everything and everyone-- she was certain of this!

"HAHA, BAD! BAD!!"

Immediately Imperia agreed to a fight, however. Flames came easily to the cat, enough to make Merrow hiss in distaste as the gembound lunged towards her with flaming paws. The hybrid didn't flinch, however, as the fire came dangerous close. In fact, she practically lunged into the attack, letting the flames strike at her furry face.

The smell of burning fur wasn't pleasant. "MERROW EAT FIRE! MERROW DRAGON!" Merrow let out another roar as she tried to snap her teeth into her opponent/next meal, without any sense of self preservation.

As long as she could get a grip on Imperia, she was sure she could convince the feline to hold deathly still while she ate it whole.

Imperia
You're going down

Imperia grinned as the hybrid leaned right into the flames coming from her paws. The smell of burning fur most definitely wasn't a good one, but the caracal had gotten used to the smell, welcomed it even. Her paws hurt, she wasn't used to casting her spell this many times. Oh well, she could stand it for a bit longer.

She let out a yowl as she felt Merrow bite down. It wasn't a hard grip, but it still hurt. She began to try and scratch the other, claws flailing every which way as Imperia tried to scratch the hybrid. She began to growl, low and deep in her throat.

RE: COLD and COLD and COLD - Merrow - May 26 2016

The bratty, batty dragon child had managed to snatch a bite, but her grip wasn't perfect. She needed something firmer, more locked on, before she could kill her prey-- but before she could get another snap of her tiny jaws, the claws had come out. They raked through fur down to skin, drawing blood, and the hybrid hissed, almost but not quite like a cat. It seemed somehow deeper, coming from her, rumbling up through her throat.

"MMMEAAAN!"

Merrow wouldn't stand for a loss, however. A few clawmarks wasn't enough to deter her yet, and instead she tried to get another bite in, twisting her tail, thrashing her wings about, attempting to get a hold in any way she could on the cat. She'd be happy to even wrap the feline up in a burrito of her leathery wings, though this certainly was a bad play. Those claws could easy shred her thin wings...

round: 2 of 5
attempt: CAPTURE THE FOOD...
defense: A GOOD OFFENSE
injuries: internal burns, face-fluff catching fire, scratches

@Imperia whoops

RE: COLD and COLD and COLD - Imperia - May 26 2016

Imperia
Prepare to die by my claws

Imperia continued thrashing her claws about, and grinned as she felt them rake across the hybrid. The grip on her was lost, and she began to scratch her again, aiming for her wings, for her throat, anything she could! She was determined to win this battle, and injure this bratty creature as much as she possibly could.

"I hope you're ready to die at the claws of Imperia!" She was fully prepared to kill this creature if needed, but there was also always something satisfying at letting someone live, but with multiple wounds to remember her by. Whichever it came to, Imperia would surely be satisfied with it. There was no way she was going to lose now.

round: 3/5
