Not Demons, Not Gods - Louie - Jun 03 2016 It was after the meeting. Most of those who had decided to attend had filtered away. For the most part it had gone well, he was pleased with the progress that was slowly being made and he huffed gently. Winding towards the back of the cave, his movements awkward as his paws criss-crossed with every step, he came to where the beloved Obsidian sat swollen and glowing. Inside was his child, one who he would cherish and place on a pedestal that could never be toppled. A God among this world full of mutated demons. A crooning noise rose from the back of his throat as he bent down to nuzzle it. Behind it lay two more gems. They had been collected by him during the lull of the caves. Gembounds who had ceased to exist whether through loneliness or torn apart at the claws of another. The qualities of the three varied greatly, thus he found little reason to believe there would be any similarity in the offspring that would be created. Creating more mouths to feed was something he was entirely sure he could handle. At least with Magdalena, she had occupied the time of their joint offspring while he was left with the useless blind rat of Iliad. Louie often wondered where the beast had crawled off to die, but it didn't concern him. Paternal instinct for that child was lacking. All he was, was a rock he had found in his madness. At least these rocks he could touch knowingly, understand their importance and have a reasonable discussion over whether it was worth it from him. Reaching a paw out, he scooped the pyrite closest to him first, as he pressed his nose against it. The gem that crested down his neckline sputtered, but eventually the warm emerald glow embed itself into the hard outer crust of the pyrite. A satisfied nod as he went to pull the topaz over next.
"DO NOT FORGET WHO I AM" RE: Not Demons, Not Gods - Louie - Jun 03 2016 This was an odd exercise, as he was creating life alone. There was no celebration, no intimate moment to be shared by someone he loved and as he poured his being into the inanimate objects all he felt was a hollow emptiness. It was not a unification of two creatures who loved each other. Instead, it was just a creature born of death. Louie's lips pursed as he frowned down at the three gems, two already throbbing with the lives they were beginning to produce. Never had a child born of the fox been a precious moment, rather overshadowed by how the gems had ended up within his paws. Even the one time he had shared the act, it had been foolish. Merely an attempt to create something more powerful in the prokaryotic world and whether or not it had succeeded thus far he was not sure. It appeared that the element of the prokaryote was becoming scarce. These three would be its redemption. A shaky breath as he steadily pushed his nose against the topaz. Eyes closing, he tried to feel something for what he was doing. Not just the steady pull on his own life force, but something that would invoke some form of paternal feeling. A need to be a father to the trio of mismatched creations. A final spark, as the topaz inhaled its newest lease on life. Each now glowed happily. Content to be nestled beside each other where they would take root and grow. As a precautionary measure, he nosed them apart enough so that they may grow freely. Iliad had been huge upon hatching, he wished not to place discomfort on one of them should it emerge in such a manner. Louie looked on forlornly, before he placed his chin in his paws as his odd coloured eyes watched them closely. Once again he had participated in this ritual alone. Forever he would wander as the solitary creature that he was. These children, would be his release.
