top of the world - Azazel (Original) - May 18 2015 Trying to feel { i n - v i n - c i - b l e } " - for fisher Every once in a while, Azazel found himself wandering toward the core of Origin Caves. Many seemed to have been born here, but not Azazel. Why? Why was he born in a room of bones? Had fate decided that the vulture would be meant to live in there? Had it been sumbolic to show him that? That was a job for instinct, but of course, other factors aided the ave. Bevy and Krakarak had helped. They taught him the first few things about this world. Since the founding of The Bonebound and this 'Maji Walezi' group in Pisces, Azazel had found himself to be more cautious about travelling toward the core. That was one of the few rooms he had to make pilgrimage through to reach his destination. Today, fortunately, Bevy had been there in Pisces and was able to escort The Bone King. He never did once consider why he needed to be escorted. Surely he wasn't seen as a threat? Perhaps it was just a precaution. Azazel wasn't too strict about his own borders, simply watching them for any suspicious activity. So far, nothing yet... thankfully. Gliding along in the cave, the bird kept his gaze on the area before him. However, his head was tilted downwards just a little ways, so he could see the floor, too. Perhaps something would be down there. Sure enough, there was something. Shards of a broken chrysalis lay slumped against a wall, almost shaping one that once was full of life, brimming with magic. It was surprising that a golem hadn't yet come by to retrieve it. Raising a talon to prod it, the fragile glass-like stone shattered, bringing up a loud clamor. It echoed about in the passageway, and the ave winced. That couldn't be good, could it? The Bone King simply looked about for a few minutes, before he would return to staring at the chrysalis, feeling an odd energy from it. Prodding it a few more times, he found a skeleton beneath it. Perfect! He could really go for a snack right now! RE: top of the world - Fisher - May 18 2015 Fisher had just about had it up to his ears with this cave. His life had been nothing but difficult and miserable-- there were good, sweet creatures he had come to know, sure, but he always got the short end of the stick. He was the bravest, toughest fella and the world wanted to beat him into submission, throwing him horrible thing after awful disaster after vicious monster. If he was weaker, he would be dead by now. Yet plenty of other gembounds survived despite being so gentle, so harmless. Survived without so much as a scratch. It infuriated the small, scruffy furred cat-sized mustelid. It wasn't fair. Why did he have to fight for everything? His fur sparked with electricity. It hadn't stopped sparking since his encounter with a nasty snake, and he didn't want it to. Let the next thing to touch him get fifty volts to the face, see if he cared. Maybe he would laugh, even. Thats what they got for thinking he was Food! Fisher stormed through the tunnel, wishing he could remember his way back to Cetus where he had born. The thick mist, the towering trees... He would be safe, back in the sickly marsh, away from the monsters and vicious, cold towers that defied his boldness. Mostly, Fisher was looking for a way to vent out his feelings. A sound, a cracking, echoing noise that was Not-Thunder pierced his ears, and being a curious, oversized weasel, the big brown noodle barreled towards the noise. When Fisher saw the bones, the big feathery thing, and the shattered gem-egg, he slid to a stop and tilted his head. What were those white things, and why-- the bird seemed to be trying to eat them! Food? Food! Fisher's ears laid back and his tail swished back and forth, a slowe calculated wag that was not like the happy dog-tail he often did when he met new gembounds. "Hey!" His voice filled the chamber, his claws unshealthing. "What are you doing?!" He demanded, prowling forward. Was it tasty food? He wanted to eat-- if this secret white food was tasty, then he would be more than happy to demand the bird share. His patience was dangerously low, his mood absolutely awful-- if you had been attacked by a snake, a river, a spire, and a giant yeti, you'd feel the same way. RE: top of the world - Azazel (Original) - May 18 2015 Watching the door for anything more than an { o r d i n a r y } life. " Caught up in his fresh pickings up until the point that a little mustelid decided to tramp right on up to the grumpy bird. Hearing the scuttling of little paws, the bird's head turned about to find a little ball of anger. Unfortunately for this little martin, Azazel was pretty grumpy too. A loud and sharp demand of what he was doing was all that the ave needed. Turning about, the bird tried to mock a growl back, spreading his wings to hide the chrysalis away. "My bones." Now, Azazel would have been fine with sharing if he were in Canis, but he wasn't. He was quite far from it, actually. These bones could be special, and this little critter couldn't take them without him investigating! This fisher didn't look like he really needed to eat bones. Those sharp little teeth were meant for meat, not spongey marrow. Ruffling his feathers and squaring off his feet so he could stand his ground, the bird was willing to fight this grumpy little mustelid. These were his bones! Shoulders rolled forth and his muscles loosened to absorb shock. Eyes narrowed and talons spread apart. His head ducked down low, a harsh glare from his eyes boring into the mustelid. Finally, he called upon his newest magic trick. A jetstream able to blow a critter away. It'd be a taxing and risky first move, but Azazel would guard these bones with his life. Molecules of the atmosphere gathered about the bird's wings, drawing close to his heart. Soon, he felt as if he had enough strength built up in his gust. So his great wings spread wider and flapped one powerful stroke. Hopefully it'd be able to blow this pesky little critter away and teach him not to try and steal his bones. AZAZEL v. FISHER for GRUDGE YAY ONE TWO THREE FOUR FIVE { ATTEMPT } ~ trying to blow fisher away { DEFENSES } ~ feathers ruffled so that if fisher tries to bite him, he could get just a mouthful of dirty dirty feathers! :D feet squared off and talons spread apart for support, shoulders rolled forwards and muscles loosened to both absorb shock and allow him to move quickly if needed { INJURIES } ~ none, first round RE: top of the world - Fisher - May 19 2015 "Well I don't see your name on them!" Fisher snapped back, just in time for the wind to shut him right up. The fisher's short body was hard to blow away, with such a low center of gravity, but he also was a very light, small animal and so despite his claws best attempts to dig into the damp earth, the wind knocked him off of his feet and sent him tumbling back into the wall. If there was one thing that annoyed Fisher (and it was more like a very long list) it would be being knocked around by things. Hissing and puffing up, his body twisted around and he thrust himself standing again, tail lashing. His paw nearly gave out under him, but he ignored it, bolting forward with his three good legs-- he was used to having a less than perfect paw by now. The mustelid's brown fur was a ripple in the wind, his thin, lithe body pressing close to the wall as he tore forward through the strong gusts. "Bully!" A crackle sounded, soft and muffled by the wind, but he was gathering the strength for an attack. He knew better than to use his strongest magic-- it took a lot out of him-- but a smaller attack would be enough to show that birdbrain who was boss. Because Fisher was Boss. He was the best, the greatest, and he deserved some of those bones! His body weaved one way as he let loose the jolt of lightning, a small, almost harmless shock of electricity, but enough to startle just about anything that wasn't expecting it. His body slid to the ground, his paws tucked under him in case he needed to bolt out of the way of an attack, but at least this way the wind couldn't get under him and lift him off again. His copper eyes spared a glance at the bones, strange and white, but so alluring... If he could just get close enough to the bones to snatch one, then he would win. He would definitely be the winner if he could get a bone, and featherbutt would have to admit he was the better of them. AZAZEL v. FISHER for GRUDGE YAY ONE TWO THREE FOUR FIVE
RE: top of the world - Azazel (Original) - May 19 2015 Watching the door for anything more than an { o r d i n a r y } life. " Oh, so it was the matter of one's names being on these bones? "It doesn't matter! I found them first!" Azazel screeched, narrowing his eyes as the little fisher cat was blown off by his powerful gust. Perfect. The little mustelid refused to stay down, however. The little wolverine simply stood up again, hackles now bristling like fire, tail swinging like mad in anger and fury. Soon, the bristling mass sparked. Not a little glow like Saudade or Clover sometimes would summon. This was a low buzzing noise. Like the lights that hung up above, illuminated by a similar force. But what was it? Azazel was far too perplexed and deep in thought to notice that the mustelid was approaching, electricity buzzing from hair to hair on that little pelt of his. The little noodle discharged the electricity in a small shock, rather weak but intents obvious to spook Azazel. A tiny bolt of pain surged through the ave, leaving a strange numbness in his bone. The Bone King disdained it, and he gave a small hiss. Well, not a hiss but a little squawk that was meant to sound like a hiss. Feathers ruffled into thick lumps that stood right up, and the bird's eyes narrowed once more. The bird's previously spread wings flapped in powerful strokes, lifting the ave up to the skies. Magic usuage had tired him out a little, and his prowess in that was spent for a few turns in this fight. For now, he'd make up for that. Abandoning the bones for now and focusing his mission upon teaching this little brown noodle a lesson, Azazel made no sound as he wove around the lights, wings sometimes barely grazing the strange suspensions that the orbs clung to. Talons opened up, sharp and serrated edges facing down toward the floor. Using the thermals in the room to his advantage, the bird built up enough speed to take a turn toward the mustelid. Soon, The Bone King would get into the classic lammergeier diving position. Dipping downward and throwing his center of gravity forwards, the bird spiralled down, talons greedily swiped at the fisher cat. Regardless if this worked, the bird would screech with some degree of delight and flap his wings once more, to land nearby, scurrying to his bones once more. Surely the little noodle hadn't taken his dive as a chance to find his bones! If he did. That little mustelid would be in a world of hurt. AZAZEL v. FISHER for GRUDGE YAY { ATTEMPT } ~ to swoop down and swipe at fisher a few times with his talons. { DEFENSES } ~ feathers ruffled, eyes narrowed, muscles loosened. { INJURIES } ~ slight numbness from static spell RE: top of the world - Fisher - May 19 2015 Fisher had hit his mark, barely. He cackled with delight, enjoying the squawk the bird had made... Yes, yes, Tamelyn had told him he wasn't supposed to hurt other gembounds, but he wasn't afraid of breaking some rules if it meant a tasty snack... And to be fair, the awful, brightly colored winged thing had attacked him first. So it was only fair! The feather thing simply had to learn to share, one way or another, and Fisher was surely the toughest thing on the block and definitely able to teach him a lesson. The foolish bird, however, had took to the sky, leaving the bones oh so vulnerable. Grinning wide, the fisher didn't hesitate for a moment. He barreled headfirst into the skeleton, his teeth gashing down on the first piece he could find, and then he was off again like a bullet, determined not to stay still. Bones rattled in his wake, scattered around carelessly. He saw the vulture dive in the corner of his vision, and as he missed his target Fisher found himself twirling on his heels. Eyes wide, he knew just what he had to do. With the agile flexibility of a weasel, the brown furred mustelid rushed for the bird's back, making a giant leap into the air. He would sink his claws into the bird's back and hold on for dear life, of course. Surely that would keep the bird from flying up overhead where he had the advantage. He still had that bone in his jaws, the tasty white thing threatening to snap under his jaw's strength. He liked this bone, whatever it was. It wasn't like food- it was too hard-- but it was tasty and fun to latch his teeth into. Not being able to bite on to neck or feathers to hold on to Azazel might have been a problem, but Fisher would simply have to worry about that if he actually managed to get on top of the mighty bone king in the first place. AZAZEL v. FISHER for GRUDGE YAY
RE: top of the world - Azazel (Original) - May 19 2015 Watching the door for anything more than an { o r d i n a r y } life. " THAT LITTLE SON OF A NOODLE. The little mustelid indeed took the chance of the bird flying up to the skies and shot like a bullet toward the bones, Azazel's talons missing the furry noodle by a lot. Grunting, the bird circled back around and watched as the fisher scattered the once pristine skeleton all over the floor. The bones had been so smooth and white and perfect! Fresh, too! That wasn't something one saw every day! Azazel narrowed his eyes in anger and gave a loud call. "Now you're getting it!" Fisher seemed to respond in the only way he seemed to know how to. The noodle rushed toward the bird, blending in with the rocky floor easily. Finding it difficult to keep track of the furry worm, Azazel flapped his wings, flying up for a moment and hovering. A shifting little bone notified The Bone King of the wriggly iggly noodle. That little weasel wouldn't escape now! A small thump! echoed, telling Azazel that the mustelid had tried to jump onto something. "Haha!" The bird dropped to the floor, leaning down and opening his beak in attempts to grab the pristine white bone that his foe held tightly in his jaws. But it was gentle. He didn't want to ruin the bone any more than it already had been by the fisher cat. Backing up, he'd hope to drag the fisher along with him. Surely this little noodle wasn't that strong, right? AZAZEL v. FISHER for GRUDGE { ATTEMPT } ~ grabbing the bone and dragging it away, possibly with fisher at the end of it. { DEFENSES } ~ nope, defenses don't matter to a birb anymore { INJURIES } ~ slight numbness from static spell { Round 2 } RE: top of the world - Fisher - May 24 2015 Fisher missed by a mile. The bird swooped back up, and his lean body plopped back down on to the ground with a sad, miserable thump. His forepaw burned with pain, he had landed on it slightly and now it was horribly distracting, but Azazel's cackling laugh was enough to warn him. The giant bird landed before him, and although her arched up like a cat, he couldn't get away fast enough-- the bird's beak delicately, precisely, nabbed his bone. Now, the mustelid was not about to let the bone go. Not for a mile. He gritted his teeth, the bone creaking in his jaw, as the Bone King pulled the bone and him along. Fisher didn't even seem to resist being dragged around, tucking his injured paw against his belly, his other limbs flailing uselessly at the floor as he was carried, scrabbling pathetically at the muddy, slippery floor. His tail lashed around, keeping him upright, and a sudden amount of frustration had taken Fisher's attention. How dare this greedy bird try to take away his prize? He had won! He had a right to this bone, and he was not going to give it up! Just like when the Spire had challenged Fisher's strength, he felt the build up of energy in his muscles. Anger washed over him as he let out a harsh, low hiss that seemed to echo off of the walls of the tunnel. And then, like a thunderstorm had been growing to the brim of the fisher cat, a crackle ran off of his fur like vengeful static, and the boom followed. Unleashed from the noodle was the strongest bolt of lightning he could muster, and it would be directed right through the bone. AZAZEL v. FISHER for GRUDGE YAY
RE: top of the world - Azazel (Original) - May 24 2015 take it all, make it on my { o w n } " Easily, the little mustelid came along with the bone, which Azazel didn't mind one bit. The little marten scrambled across the floor, and The Bone King felt a little bit of pity. Why was he fighting such a weak and obviously injured little creature? Hopefully he could end this soon-ish. He didn't really want to fight anymore. But this noodle was definitely set on it. The ave couldn't have that. Plus... ... that little noodle ruined the bone that they were having a tug-of-war over. A loud crackle followed the mustelid's fit of hissing, then followed by a loud BOOM! that echoed about the room, but it wasn't any sort of a giant thunderclap that Azazel would sometimes hear echo around the caverns. Feeling a small shock through the bone, the bird let go and found his beard stubble smoldering. In a panic, the bird raised a foot and grabbed it, to put out the sparks. How dare he?! Flapping his wings indignantly, the bird took off for a moment to gain speed on the mustelid if he'd attempt to run away with his prize, then extended a foot. Talons opened wide and the bird would make an attempt to land the cage atop the wriggly noodle. Maybe then he could pin down the little jerk and take the bone. Of course, Azazel was still blissfully unaware of the fact that the little critter conducted electricity from himself and that he'd given the fisher a big opening for attack. AZAZEL v. FISHER for GRUDGE { INJURIES } ~ slight numbness from static spell { Round 2, } slightly charred beard { round 3 } RE: top of the world - Fisher - May 24 2015 The electricity did not get much farther from the bone before it exploded, shattering, lightning going through the small mustelid as if he was made of metal and on top of a huge tower. Pieces of bone jabbed at his jaws and his tongue, a tiny piece nearly getting lodged in his throat, but everything was white and hot. Azazel squawked, flapping away as the lightning redirected down though the poor noodle's paws into the earth, happy to find the grounding point. Fisher didn't even try to scamper away as Azazel came crashing down on him, talons shoving him into the soft earth. For a moment, he was just dazed, stunned by the pain and the actual electricity, but then he felt the bird upon him and, despite the pain, the feral fisher came back to life. He coughed and screeched-- yowling in pain-- his body flailing in a desperate attempt to escape, but honestly, he was barely able to tell what was going on. Pain wracked through his body, his limbs barely controllable as his mouth filled with the taste of the coppery red liquid. Having no sense of what else he could do, Fisher ignored the bone splinters in his mouth (most of the large pieces had come out in his screaming) and snapped at Azazel's talons, trying to get away from the awful winged beast that had put him in this dreadful position. He wanted to get away, far away, flee to something tall to crawl up or some nook to go hide in until he could feel his fur again. Until the pain faded and he could see more than flashes of white in his eyes. AZAZEL v. FISHER for GRUDGE YAY
