an emerald entrance - Iridae - Jun 07 2016

The small green crystal that was sticking up out of the ground near the Spire could have easily blended into the background of Polaris and gone unnoticed perhaps forever. The difference being that this crystal was actually an emerald chrysalis, and inside was a little yellow-green bird who was ready to go exploring his world. He was tiny, and he would always be tiny, but his smallness would never bother him. He was far too full of curiosity for the world to care much about himself, anyways. From inside the chrysalis, there came a peeping sound. And then slowly, little cracks began to spread across the surface of the gem. It took some time, but eventually, Iridae — the little bird inside — managed to break free, and lay still for a moment on the ground, surrounded by shattered pieces of emerald.

Kin-Kin
It is resolve that determines the value of your life.

The wolf had been wandering, her paws placed one after the other as she wandered through Polaris, her ears pricked to the thrumming sound of magic that filled this cavern. Her plumed tail swished, her ears swiveled, and her cape rustled gently at her back with every soft motion. She liked this atmosphere- she felt the glows shifting above made her sandy gold fur dance bright over lithe muscle.

Surely she'd be quite the sight to a passerby. This in mind, Kin-Kin kept her head held high and her steps proud as she strode, deep violet eyes ablaze.

Suddenly, one ear twitched as she heard a crack, echoing from somewhere close by. The lady swung her head, trying to figure out the source of the sound as curiosity was suddenly piqued in her chest. With only a moment's hesitation, she set off towards the sound, tilting her head as she came upon the remains of a chrysalis, a small bird lying just beside it. The wolf bent down and sniffed at the little thing, curiously.

"New here, huh?"

"Listen to me."

Iridae quickly flutter-hopped back to his feet. He didn’t have time for resting right now! He had so much exploring to do! And who was this? A new face? His first friend? An enemy maybe? He wouldn’t know unless he said hi! “Yes, I’m new!” he chirped happily. “Who you? Is you nice? Friend?” Okay, so, he’d just been born, and therefore language wasn’t exactly his strong point. “Where are we?” he asked, not waiting for the wolf to answer his first set of questions. He had no time for waiting! There was so much to do! “Let’s go exploring!”

Kin-Kin couldn't help but be amused by the little creature's antics. It talked so fast, moving on so quick. Kin-Kin couldn't help but wonder if it forgot its last question as soon as it asked the next, as it certainly seemed so. Still, bringing it up would be nothing short of rude, so she chuckled and answered anyway.

"My name is Kin-Kin. I'm a friend," she answered coolly, waving her tail from side to side. "And, well, I'd hope I'm nice." she watched it. already it'd moved on through another couple of questions... or maybe another couple of dozen that she'd missed. She wouldn't be surprised, at all.

She grinned wolfishly, baring her teeth.

"Polaris," she exclaimed proudly, throwing her head back dramatically. "We're in Polaris-!"

She was cut off, and gave another laugh.

"Where do you want to see?"

"Listen to me."
