*jaws theme intensifies* - Nyekundu - Jun 20 2016

Nyekundu walked along the walls of Fornax. They had grown, and were now quite tall, with feathers a vibrant pink. After days, cycles, of practicing, they could now walk with a sense of elegance, as they always wanted to achieve. They hadn't met others in a while, and they had only seen a couple of gembounds. This was something they wanted to change. So they walked, looking around for someone nearby.

This place was very unfamiliar to the flamingo. They had never been here before, but decided new places were always a great way to get a fresh start. They looked around before deciding to go into the water. Others could likely see them better that way! They opened their wings and flew up, enjoying the feeling of flying. They then plopped down on top of the water. They continued looking around, seeing if anyone was even here to see them to begin with.

RE: *jaws theme intensifies* - Cerulean - Jun 20 2016

There was movement in their home.

Should I check it out?

Wait.

The movement landed upon their water. Upon their great sea's unmarred surface. Small, so small. The leviathan spotted it easily, though, gills flaring to take in its scent. A bird?

Should we chase it away?

We are hungry.

Shall we eat, then? It is a bird. Birds are thinking.

This one clearly thinks poorly, to land here.

So it is weak.

So it is weak.

The beast churned the silty bottom where it had rested, and disappeared into the blue depths, silent and steady. It circled from below. Oh, poor pitiful creature. Poor unfortunate thing.

They were hungry. They had never tasted thinking meat before.

They would today. They would become Apex today. Top predator.

With a snap of that long finned tail, they shot upwards...

...and with jaws spread wide at the last second, they breached from beneath the unwitting avian, all but engulfing it between rows of sharp teeth, launching from the water with a roaring spray. Propelled upward, it would make to snap its jaws shut around the bird, its prey, before it fell back into the water sideways without any lack of damning grace.

Nyekundu waited some more. Perhaps nobody was here. What a disappointment. They were just about to fly off and find somewhere else to be when something changed. Next thing they knew, they were in the jaws of a large creature.

And then there was nothing. There was only darkness.

Gone.

Just like them.

RE: *jaws theme intensifies* - Iris - Jun 20 2016

With the caves out of it's strange self-imposed stasis and the current threats gone (for the most part), Iris was back to work hunting, exploring, patrolling, the like. Upon meeting Cerulean--and Kreool--, the hybrid knew that she had new friends. Orarian had seemingly disappeared, as always. It left the dragon to wonder how something almost as big as she was could disappear like that. They were bright blue, too! I mean, Iris is blue... but she blends in with the blue-green waters of Fornax. Maybe. I honestly don't know.

As she swam in the warm currents of the waters that propelled her forwards, Iris noticed something a bit off. There was a soundless gasp and a few bubbles rising up. Was someone drowning? Immediately in a panic, the hybrid twisted her body downwards and began to swim towards the source of the sound and found a sight she never wanted to see. Cerulean had his jaws clasped about the form of a dead Gembound, a bird of some kind. Without thinking, she aimed a (rather harsh) slap to the Leviathan's snout and chirped angrily, "what are you doing??? That's a greater Gembound!"

RE: *jaws theme intensifies* - Cerulean - Jun 25 2016

It only took a second for the blood to rush across their tongue and hungry twisted in their gut. This was the same taste as any lesser.

There really was no difference.

They were about to swallow their meal when Iris came shooting at them from across the deep and slapped a claws paw across their face. Kreool recoiled with a sharp squeal. Cerulean's thoughts flared with fury.

W e A r E b e T r A y E d

It was like a switch had been flicked. One second, the leviathan had recoiled in timid remorse. The next, what was left of its meal (a wing, a leg, stone and body swallowed otherwise whole already) was abandoned to drift as he launched those same jaws at Iris, aiming for her face, or her neck- whichever he could reach- because suddenly, Cerulean wasn't satisfied with just a single bird...

...and in his twisting rage, perhaps a bit too sudden, with too little planning, the leviathan bit into empty water.

Kreool was screaming.

NO NO YOU CAN'T HURT HER SHE'S OUR FRIEND BROTHER STOP STOP STOP NO PLEASE SHE DIDN'T MEAN IT SHE DIDN'T KNOW BROTHER NO STOP PLEASE THIS ISN'T RIGHT PLEASE
