a cat bath - Fira - Jun 27 2016 OOC: Selfie Thread Hunger: 5 - Meh Thirst: 7 - Good Energy: 6 - Meh Hygiene: 3 - Bad Social: 9 - Very Good Fun: 3 - Bad Mood: 33/60 - Meh/Neutral. Needs a bath and then some fun! ------------ Usually when Fira went far from the den it was because she was feeling pretty down on herself and the situation with Destiny. Today, she was actually feeling pretty good. She was pretty dirty and definitely needed a bath, and she was actually quite bored, but these things could be easily fixed. She lay down in the short grass and began to groom herself, taking her time. She was a Cat, first and foremost, so baths generally took a good long while. She started with her face, licking a paw and then dragging it across her cheek and maw. Over time, she made it down to the rest of her, cleaning each leg and paw, clipping her nails by biting them with her teeth. You know, the usual Cat Bath stuff. With a contented sigh, she allowed herself to rest for a while, basking in the warmth that came with the disappearance of the snow. RE: a cat bath - Fira - Jun 27 2016 Hunger: 5 - Meh Thirst: 7 - Good Energy: 6 - Meh Hygiene: 3 +7 - Perfect Social: 9 - Very Good Fun: 3 - Bad After allowing herself to doze a little, she decided to get up and do something actually productive. Even if her life had been a little less adventurous since denning with Destiny, she still felt the urge to remain active and physically fit, and to challenge herself on a regular basis. She decided to start with a little Magic first, since she hadn’t practiced in a while. She realized she didn’t actually know many spells, and decided that she would rectify that when she got the chance, though taking care of her children would probably take up ninety-eight percent of her time. She decided to start with her most basic spell — the one she had been born with — her Heartbeat Sensing spell. She closed her eyes and concentrated on the gem on her forehead, the source of her Magic. After a moment, it tingled, and she began to feel and hear the heartbeats of many Lesser Gembound species around her. Most were very quick heartbeats. Those were the heartbeats of mice and birds, whose hearts beat much faster than hers. She smiled at how easily the spell had come to her. RE: a cat bath - Fira - Jun 27 2016 After a few moments, she let the spell go, and allowed herself a small break. Casting could be exhausting work she had learned, and she knew that it was a good idea to not cast too many spells in a row for fear of draining her Magicka too much. It came back naturally over time, of course, but if she drained it dry she ended up having to sleep it off and had the worst headache when she awoke. So, to keep that from happening, she practiced in spurts instead of all at once. She looked around as she took her break, wondering where to go today. She’d explored all over Polaris, having lived here for so long now. She was actually itching to go anywhere else, but she knew taking care of Destiny and, soon, her children, was more important. RE: a cat bath - Fira - Jun 27 2016 After a sufficient rest, Fira tried another spell cast, and this one came even easier than the last. She felt the sensation all over her body — a tickling itching feeling that was difficult to hold still for. But it was worth it when she opened her eyes and saw that her fur had turned a dark rusty orange-red as opposed to its usual orange-cream. This one had tired her out more than the last spell cast, though, so she lay down again and placed her head on her paws. She only had two more spells to try. The fact that she only knew four of them made her kind of annoyed. She’d have to go on a quest later to find more. RE: a cat bath - Fira - Jun 27 2016 All this spell casting was making her kind of hungry, actually. She got back up and and used her tracking skills as a leopard to locate the nearest prey, which turned out to be a rabbit. Honestly, with all the hunting she’d been doing here recently, she was surprised there were even any left in Polaris. All thoughts after that one shut down as she went into Hunter Mode. She stalked the rabbit as close as she could, but she apparently got too close because before she could even lunge for it, it jerked its head up and bounded away. Fira made a sound of annoyance in her throat and sat down, not even bothering to go after it. Maybe she should go back to the Crystal River and give fishing a go instead. RE: a cat bath - Fira - Jun 27 2016 With a small grumble, the leopard lifted herself to her paws and made her way back towards home. She wondered if she would see Destiny in the river. The platypus often spent time in the water since the coolness of it relieved some of her headache pain. Fira didn’t even want to think about the reason behind those constant headaches — the gem pushing into her brain. What a horrible way to die. Fira sighed and tried to remain positive. At least the platypus would meet and spend time with their children before she died. And Fira would try to make her last days as comfortable as possible. She shook her head and made herself stop thinking about it. Fishing! That’s what she was doing! RE: a cat bath - Fira - Jun 27 2016 By the time she reached the pebbly bank of the river, she was back to her usual no-nonsense self. And she was on a mission. She’d only recently begun to fish and wasn’t very good at it yet. A leopard named Cure had brought the idea up to her, and she couldn’t believe she’d never thought of it herself. Fish were delicious! You just had to be careful you didn’t snag the wrong type. Generally, she went after the silver ones. They weren’t dangerous and didn’t try to bite you to death when you caught ‘em. Hopefully she’d have some luck today. Fishing could be quite tedious, after all. It wasn’t just catching them, it was waiting for them to even appear. But Fira was quite patient. She didn’t mind waiting, even for hours. She was too determined to give up on most things. She was stubborn like that. RE: a cat bath - Fira - Jun 27 2016 Luckily, Fira didn’t have to wait hours to catch a fish. They seemed abundant, perhaps because of the change in weather, and she was able to easily snag a silverling and pull it up out of the water. Droplets rained down around her but she didn’t mind. She quickly cut its life short so it would stop struggling and then laid it out so she could bite into it. She wasn’t quite used to the flavor of fish yet, but she wouldn’t say it was a bad flavor. She rather enjoyed it. Actually, she didn’t think she’d ever eaten anything that she didn’t enjoy. She wasn’t picky, for the most part. She ate her fill, until all that was left were the bones, and then lounged beside the river, feeling quite happy with the day. Maybe she’d bring something home for Destiny, but what? She wasn’t very good at gift giving. She was far too practical to have a good eye for such a thing. Maybe… maybe she’d replace the bedding in their sleeping area? Yeah, that seemed like a good idea. And put some fresh bedding down in the room with chrysalises too. And she should really dig out that area more. She had no idea how big the babies were going to be, or how big they’d grow up to be… If they were as big as her, she’d have to make the den much bigger… Hmm… RE: a cat bath - Fira - Jun 27 2016 … Fira must have dozed off thinking about the den, because suddenly she was blinking the sleep from her eyes. She smiled lazily down at the remains of her lunch, and then realized that she still had two spells to practice: her Night Eye spell, and her Venom spell. In order to effectively practice her night eye spell, she’d have to go somewhere relatively dark, but Polaris was probably the brightest area of the whole Cave System. Maybe she could practice it in the den, since it was darker in there, but she didn’t want to disturb Destiny. She’d just go to the entrance and poke around a bit, maybe. Maybe check on the chrysalises. Yeah, that sounded like a plan. RE: a cat bath - Fira - Jun 27 2016 Fira wasn’t far from the den, so it didn’t take more than two minutes or so to reach the entrance. When she nosed her way inside, she didn’t see Destiny anywhere, so she just went ahead and checked on their unborn children. It was dark back here, which was perfect for her to try casting her Night Eye spell. It took a bit of effort, and it wasn’t very strong, but it still worked. Hmm. She decided to let the spell go and then try again in a moment or two. She could do better than that! While she was there, she gently pawed at the rocks which were growing bigger every day. In fact, they were a lot bigger… Yeah, she’d definitely have to dig this part out more — maybe add a whole new room to the den, even. Good! She loved work. |
