Testing the Limits - Serendipity - Aug 12 2016 i don't know what you've been told but, this gal right here's gonna rule the world The sound of skittering claws could be heard over the overall silence of the swamp as a tiny creature hopped back and forth across treacherous stones. She was not long into this world and already she was testing her limits. Today she'd been told to stay within "view" of The Divine. Well, she was certain the tall tree was out there... somewhere but with the mist you would be hard-pressed to see it. In any case home was just a stone's throw away... if she cared to test that theory by throwing a stone into the mists. Which she didn't. She was content to hop back and forth over the stones, allowing herself a good exercise. For some reason she felt the need to test herself this way, to get her muscles into shape for... things. What those things were she didn't know but she would be ready. The little liogoose landed easily on a larger stone and then stood crouched on it, all four paws grasping the stone while her little rump wiggled back and forth like a kitten's while she fixed her icy gaze on a neighboring stone nearly three feet away. Could she make the jump? Only one way to find out! The tiny mongoose-lion launched herself off the rock and straight towards the stone but her jump was off, terribly so! The small child let out a pained shriek as she collided head first into the stone. Her gem struck the rock painfully and she fell to the wet earth, stunned. She lay there, completely immobile while shocks of pain wracked her body. The mud soaked through her golden-red coat, making her cold and wet underneath the fur. This was not turning out to be a good day. words| 292 tagged| Open ooc| --- muse| 6/10 "Talking looks like this!" Thinking looks like this... but no, i'm never gonna be

RE: Testing the Limits - Tukluk - Aug 14 2016 It had been some time since Tukluk had been in Cetus. He’d only been there once, and that was where he’d met that weird wolf who’d creeped him out so much. He laughed at himself, remembering his insane reaction to the flowers which had grown from his body. He’d come a long way since then, crafting an entire bag with his bare hands and his Magic. He was still proud of the little backpack, which had carried not much more than a stray seed or two, which he planned on bringing back to Eridanus with him to plant and see what they sprouted into. His head turned a full 180° at the screech he heard close by. It was hard to see in here, and hard to smell anyone because of the water clinging to the air. “Hello?” he called out, hoping that whatever had made that noise wasn’t about to eat him. He turned his body to face the noise. “Are — are you okay?” Words: 165 @Serendipity RE: Testing the Limits - Serendipity - Aug 14 2016 i don't know what you've been told but, this gal right here's gonna rule the world The tiny liogoose lay immobile on the wet earth, her body was inert but she could hear everything going on around her. That was why when she heard the call she attempted to make a noise to let the other know she was hear but the only thing that came out of her mouth was a tiny whimper. Ashamed at the sound and her helplessness, "H.. help..." Her voice sounded tiny and scared as she still couldn't make herself move yet. "'M over here..." She attempted to make herself get up but the throbbing in her head made her silence her attempts while she waited for the mystery voice to find her. She started shivering under her coat, succumbing to the liquid soaking into her pelt. words| 126 tagged| @Tukluk ooc| --- muse| 6/10 "Talking looks like this!" RE: Testing the Limits - Riffi - Aug 14 2016 Shrill laughter pireced through the air above the liogoose. It came from Riffi. The baby blue jay had been watching her accident from the safety of the trees, hidden behind a plumage of leaves. She hopped down to a lower branch, revealing herself. "Ouch! That's gotta hurt!" She snorted, pushing back her urge to laugh some more. Her remark wasn't out of empathy or concern for the liogoose, and she wore it on her tone like the bright feathers of birds of paradise. Riffi's eyes sparkled with immature amusement, she clearly found Serendipity's pain funny. Riffi heard another voice not to far way. From her high perch see could see a tiny Gembound carrying a sack. She wondered if he carried anything.. interesting... in there. The blue jay turned her back to the liogoose who had still not gotten up. Maybe.. she's not okay after all. Riffi felt a pang of guilt for laughing at her, especially since she saved her from drowning in the mud. She flutter clumsily to an even lower branch to get a closer look. "Hey." She called out to Serendipity, her voice softer than before. "Are you okay?" @Serendipity @Tukluk OOC: hope you don't mind if I join in RE: Testing the Limits - Tukluk - Aug 15 2016 Wait, okay… Now there were… two Gembounds somewhere nearby. Tuck hopped forward, going slowly since it was so hard to see in this damn mist. He followed the second voice and suddenly found the liogoose on the ground, next to a rock, covered in muddy water. She looked like she wasn’t about to get up anytime soon. Tuck wished he had a light spell right about now. It would be easier for him to tell what was wrong with the Gembound, if anything. He glanced up at the bird in the tree, and then promptly ignored it, since it had laughed at the liogoose for getting hurt, and a rapidly maturing Tuck didn’t think that was quite so funny anymore. “What’s wrong?” he asked the prone creature. “Where does it hurt? I can help if you tell me where you hurt.” Words: 141 @Serendipity @Riffi RE: Testing the Limits - Serendipity - Aug 15 2016 i don't know what you've been told but, this gal right here's gonna rule the world Followed by the sounds of the approaching gembound she heard high above her head the sound of laughter. It cut through to her very core and the tiny hybrid could feel a slice of anger burning in her gut. How dare they laugh at her? This wasn't funny! For all they knew she could die here! ...And that's where he anger ended, replaced by a feeling of sadness and regret. Why hadn't she listened to her Mama? Now she would be stuck here and her mom would never find her! It wasn't long though before she could hear the sound of the new creature nearing her and his voice asking about her injuries. She also heard the sound of the first creature --was that Riffi?-- as she asked the million dollar question of "was she okay?". The liogoose could feel her anger flaring up again and it came out in the form of sarcasm, "Oh yeah, just fine, I love to lay in the muck like this while I slowly freeze to death! Don't mind me!" The liogoose winced at her tone, not because she felt bad, but because speaking so loudly made her head hurt. To the primate she said, "My gem... I hit my gem. It made me hurt all over. Hard to move..." Though she could rapidly feel the feeling coming back to her body as she began to twitch her tail and her paws in anticipation of being able to get up. "It's cold down here." RE: Testing the Limits - Tukluk - Aug 16 2016 Tuck was totally in Doctor Mode at this point, and had forgotten everything else around him except for the Gembound who was in pain before him. He focused on his Magic, trying to grow a Tamusen branch for pain. His Magic, however, didn’t want to work with him at the moment, and only grew one or two small red leaves. He sighed. It would have to do. “Here,” he told the liogoose, “eat these, and the pain should go away soon. Once you can move, you should get up out of the mud and try to shake off.” He paused, trying to think if he knew of any plants that caused one to be warm. “Gods, what I wouldn’t give for a Fire Spell right about now. I could warm you up no problem.” Tuck held out his right hand, offering her the leaves and waiting patiently for her to consume them. Words: 152 @Serendipity @Riffi RE: Testing the Limits - Riffi - Aug 18 2016 "Okay!" Riffi sang in a cheeky tone. "If you say so!" Yeah, she's fine. The bird decided. Now Riffi could make fun of her failure without any pesky guilt weighing her down. She couldn't help but find herself giggling at Serendipity's sarcasm. She was beginning to like this Gembound. This liogoose was fun to play with. She spied the other Gembound she had seen when she was higher in the branches before. He had come to Serendipity's aid and was now offering her some red leaves that he grew off his body. Gross. It was not the red leaves Riffi was interested in however, but the monkey's bag. What was in there? She had to find out. It was killing her! The fledgling fluttered to another branch and landed heavily on thin limbs, making them shake under her sudden weight. She stretched out her neck to peer inside from above. There seemed to be what looked like two seeds. They looked delicious to the baby blue jay and made her stomach growl. Surely this marmoset wouldn't mind if she took one.. Riffi fluttered behind him as tended to Serendipity and carefully hopped up to the bag and went to stick her beak in, hoping to snatch up a seed before the liogoose's healer noticed. @Serendipity @Tukluk RE: Testing the Limits - Serendipity - Aug 22 2016 i don't know what you've been told but, this gal right here's gonna rule the world The tiny monkey offered her a few red leaves to munch on and though they smelled bitter she was in no shape to refuse what he was giving. So, without complaint, the tiny liogoose ate the leaves and felt almost immediately the effects. Her twitching ceased and the pain that wracked her little body seemed to subside, so much so that she tried getting to her feet... And succeeded. With a sigh of relief she shakily got to her paws and began to brush and shake herself off to get clean of the mud. "Thank-ya, yer a life saver! How can I--" The auburn gal stopped speaking to turn a glare on the laughing bird... only to see her attempting to get seeds out of the firnedly monkey's pack! "Hey! What're ya doin', ya loud-mouth?" Perhaps if she hadn't been insulted and irritated right up to the edge while she'd been in such pain then maybe she wouldn't have called the bird out but as it was she was in no mood to play nice. The bird was being mean so she would be mean right back! RE: Testing the Limits - Tukluk - Aug 23 2016 Tuck was glad that the small Tamusen leaves had worked like they were supposed to, even though his spell hadn’t been very strong. And the hybrid girl seemed to be reacting well to his help. Even though he was still young and could be pretty immature and even downright mean sometimes, he was beginning to see the benefits of being kinder to others. It felt good to know that he had helped someone all on his own, and to know that this Gembound was now grateful. She began to speak, telling him thanks for helping her. Then she interrupted herself, glaring at something behind him and letting out an admonition of some kind. He spun around, and saw that annoying mean bird rooting around in his bag. “HEY!” he screeched, voice high-pitched and shrill. “GET OUTTA THERE!” Tuck quickly hopped towards his bag and tried to snatch it up. It was sturdy enough to handle a good yanking. He would know; he’d made it himself. Still, it took him a moment to get a good grip on the bag, and he was afraid the bird would fly off with a seed. At the last second, though, he grabbed one of the handles of his backpack and pulled it away from the bird, not caring if it hurt the other Gembound in the process. Words: 224 @Serendipity @Riffi |
