The World's Hello - Future - Aug 20 2016 It was dark. Very dark. There was a small crack in the chrysalis, not at all large, but it seemed to be enough to build excitement. Suddenly, the chrysalis shattered with a tiny squeal, releasing pieces everywhere around the glowing cave. It had not been the chrysalis that had squealed, though; inside there had been a sodden bundle of fluff. The wolf pup opened one eye and looked around her. Satisfied, she confidently flashed open the other and started to attempt to plod around. It was barely successful, yet the wolf pup felt she'd rather just sit and watch than tire herself out. The meek darkness prevented her from seeing much anyway, and her puppy eyes were not that helpful. I wonder where this leads? She was barely enthusiastic or jovial as she wandered nearer the entrance of the cave, but her heart was beating heavily with new-born excitement and her eyes were bright and her pink nose twitching. She was barely the character that would make you run off, screaming. She neared the entrance, tail between her legs. RE: The World's Hello - Destiny - Aug 21 2016 Destiny was beginning to notice a pattern with her frequent long walks; they all seemed to have been triggered by the same thing. As with before, Destiny followed the sound of a distant crack, her hide still shedding droplets of water as she waddled further and further away from her home. She'd heard it again! A distant crack, the familiar sound that triggered the new mother's maternal instinct. And as with every other time, she just had to go see who it was. Did they need any help, were they all alone out here? such questions made her stomach churn as she followed the sound. Raising her head as far as it'd go without pain, the blind creature struggled to tap into the magic held within the countless spires rising from her skull. Almost immediately, Destiny knew where they were; tiny heartbeats vibrating through the ground and up into her paws, showing her the way. Waddling fast, Destiny soon slowed as she heard a clink; a shard of broken chrysalis went skittering away. Destiny looked around. "A-are you there, little one?" she called out, focusing on the heartbeat to come closer, trying to make herself look as least threatening as possible despite her towering quills of opal. "I-I'm here! I'm D-Dest'ny! I'm not gonna hurt you..." tagged| @Future

The wolf pup thought she'd heard something just beyond her cave: a kind of soft whisper. It sounded abnormally friendly, so she considered replying. Naturally, she would huddle up in a damp corner and whimper until the stranger was gone, but this sound was like the mother she'd never had. It was such a lovely, swift voice - and, oh, it was so tempting to run out and see who this saviour was. The wolf pup yelped and tottered nearer to the entrance. 'Oh, hello! My name is, ugh, Wolf Pup. I don't really have a proper name yet. Did you say you were, er, Destiny? Or is that just why you are here? Destiny brought you here? I really have no clue.' @Destiny RE: The World's Hello - Destiny - Aug 22 2016 Standing close by, Destiny swung her head as a tiny voice reached her, only to become still as pain and dizziness shot through her skull. She could hear them better now, even if she swayed unsteadily on her flippers. Her heart leaped with happiness. They could speak! They could speak. Though she wasn't too surprised, Destiny knew that there were many young ones who couldn't, her own two included. "Yeah, Dest'ny! That's me!!" She replied proudly, listening patiently to their words and tilting her beaky head to one side. Poor soul didn't have a name?! A twinge of sadness entered her heart. Destiny had never met one without a name! Even with their little ones, herself and Fira were there to name them. They knew their names from the first moments. Destiny, she'd named herself! She created for herself a bright and glowing pretense of a grand future ahead of her! And that sealed it. She was Destiny! And then as her path was laid out before her it became clear that she wasn't just Destiny, but Destiny's Pawn. Destiny didn't want to make the same mistake twice. A twinge of regret crept into her heart. "You need a name, then! You can't g-go out there all naked." tagged| @Future

RE: The World's Hello - Future - Aug 22 2016 'I don't think so either,' agreed Wolf Pup, as she could hear the stranger clearly now. The voice was wet and slippery, though it had never crossed Wolf Pup's mind it would be a water creature, like it was. The figure at the entrance was rather shadowy, and Wolf Pup didn't dare approach it. She continued to speak clearly, pretending to be fearless. 'I am never going out there. Not ever.' No reply came. 'Because I have no name, no life, and I'm useless. I need to name myself, I suppose, but I can't. Not here and not now. I don't have that sort of creative ability. I suppose when I do go out into the world my name will be Wolf Pup.' @Destiny RE: The World's Hello - Destiny - Aug 22 2016 "going out where?" Destiny asked. Being blind, she hadn't realized there was any sort of hole or den of some sorts. But now she felt a little silly.. Surely she could have known by the sound her flippers made as she walked or their heartbeat's echoes? She'd... Just have to learn these things, she guessed. She'd learned how to seek out her own den in this darkness, but was still learning the rest of this elusive place. She had yet to venture even beyond Polaris' walls since she'd lost her eyes. Giving her bill a slight shake, Destiny drew herself back to the matter at hand. "'Course you won't! That's just silly!" Motherly concern obliterated her regret. No-one should be without a name! "T-tell you what. You can be... Uh, ah... Future? Yeah, that's right! That'd be nice... Right? D-do you like it?" She shuffled her flippers worriedly. tagged| @Future

'Or The Future's Gift, right? That can be my full name! But Future's good. Thank you, Destiny, I do love the name. It has a nice ring to it, doesn't it? I'm Future now, everyone! I'm proper! I can go outside!' she did a little jump in the air. 'What do I do now, Destiny? Are you my mother, Destiny? If you are, then I must look rather like you.' She twitched her nose and shuddered. 'Those flippers must be hard to flip-flop around in. I don't get any of this.' She gave a doggy smile that would warm anyone's heart. 'Hey, watch this! I can do a spell! Although, I think I need lessons with anything else. But watch this anyway.' @Destiny RE: The World's Hello - Destiny - Aug 22 2016 "U-uh, yeah! Future's G-Gift sounds good!" Destiny considered it for a few moments, Falling silent. "C-can I just call you Future?" Ever bashful, Destiny opened her bill in a wide grin as she heard a soft patter as the pup jumped up. "y-you can call me momma if you wanna!" Destiny chirruped, her eyeless face lit up. They asked if she could be their momma! No-one had ever asked her that before! Excitement made her heart quiver, and before she knew it she was warbling her warm replies again. "I-it can be! Water is easier. Land I fall over a lot! But it's easier to find my way. I take things slow now." As happy as she was, Destiny's heart sank as they began to tell her to watch. As charming as it was, she knew she couldn't see. She had no eyes. "I-I'm sorry... I c-can't... I can't watch." tagged| @Future

So, where do we begin?' @Destiny Future murmured to herself and turned to Destiny. 'Go on, teach me something, momma.' She began to lick her tail, as she knew she'd be instantly yelled at. 'Come on, scream at me then.' Again, nothing. Future tried not to be angry and permitted herself to move forward. 'Come on, momma, will you please teach me something?' she imagined a little mouse sniffing in the cave and crouched. She stalked towards this imaginary prey and pounced, feeling nothing more than thin air between her claws. 'Would I have caught that if it was really there?' she asked Destiny hopefully, excited that she may have a talent of hunting. If she did, she was sure Destiny would be extremely proud. 'C'mon, it was good! Why won't you talk to me, Destiny. I don't understand.' She waited again, but all that greeted her was silence. @Destiny |
