You'd never believe what can hide within the Mist - Arkrael - May 23 2015 "Speech" Thoughts
Laughter seemed the echo within the strange mist covered room. The sound of paws running and splashing through the waters of the marsh seemed to be even louder. There was a wolf pup at play. One carefree little she-pup who had not an ounce of weariness within Cetus. It was exciting, not being able to see a foot in front of her. Racing through the marsh and simply making a game of play through the area. Trees towered over her, disappearing into the thick fog. She knew a few gembounds who would be be nervous within the area. If only for the fact they could not see. Yet she was a wolf. A mighty wolf! She did not always need her eyes to find things, to hear them, or even smell them. Though her sense of smell was dampened by the mist and the smell of the marsh waters itself, it did not throw off her hearing.
Arkrael raced around within the Cetus. Leaping over fallen logs, snapping her teeth at any smaller fallen twig that may have been in her path and in reach. Alas, in her playful running like any pup still learning the ropes of things a paw caught on a uplifted root and with a surprised yelp Arkrael went rolling into the mud and water. Even then laughter seemed to escape the pup. Rolling around in the mud and water the white parts of her fur were starting to disappear. Soon enough Arkrael rolled back up to her paws and looked around, muddy water dripping from her fur as she did so. A grin stretched across her muzzle again as the idea to practice her magic quickly stole her attention. She couldn't see, or really hear anything else around in the cetus at the moment so maybe she would try to sense them instead. She felt the vibrations within her stone upon her chest. Could just barely hear it's humming as it began to glisten and brighten up before growing darker again. Arkrael nearly pouted as her attempt to use magic was not as successful as she had hoped. Shaking it off Arkrael was about to just move on until she felt it. Just a sliver of the sense rolling down her spine. The ever familiar sensation of a gembound around. She didn't know where it was, or which direction it could be, but she kenw it was here. What kind or who it was Arkrael wasn't sure. Vaguely she hoped it was someone she knew. Someone who would not mind playing some games with her, but she would not hold her breath. She knew Blue had been born here, but the last she saw of the ape she had been going the completely opposite direction. Shaking it off Arkrael began walking in a random direction, curious to see if she would stumble upon whomever it was that lingered within Cetus. And perhaps she would make another attempt later if she did not find them. RE: You'd never believe what can hide within the Mist - Ghanyarah - May 23 2015 From his vantage point, the komodo dragon had been watching the wolf pup run through the mists. He couldn't see much of her, but from what he did see, he witnessed her make swirling trails through the thick white moisture. The dragon narrowed his eyes, uncertain of what to make of the canine. He hadn't much experience with canines at all - the only Gembounds he'd encountered were a feline, an aggressive primate and multiple kinda of herbivores. And a snake. Not a canine, but if he had to guess he'd say she was probably similar to the feline he hatched next to. He mulled the thoughts over in his head, idly observing the wolf until she tripped and plunged into the mists out of sight. Intrigued, Ghanyarah elevated himself on the branch, craning his neck. He searched for her, roving through a sea of mist. Sunset eyes sought out the puppy and he strained, so much so that he lost his balance. His grip on the branch slipped away and Ghanyarah squeaked as he fell off, landing in the bushes. For him, the fall was massive and the sound of him crashing through the undergrowth was loud as thunder. To anybody else, it was probably just a slight rustling. Never the less, it was embarrassing. With his sides sore from landing in the bushes, Ghanyarah scrambled to his feet and looked around. Great. Now he had absolutely no idea of where the wolf was, and he probably wouldn't be safe again until he found another tree to climb. Not only that, but his cheek was beginning to ache again. The dragon grumbled and skittered out of the bush, looking around. The mist hid any trees within the immediate vicinity from him - he'd have to search them out. With that wolf pup in the area, maybe it would be better to keep hiding. Indecisive, Ghanyarah lingered out in the open for moments longer, trying to listen or get a feel for any nearby Gembounds. RE: You'd never believe what can hide within the Mist - Arkrael - May 26 2015 "Speech" Thoughts
Arkrael stop mid step as she heard a sudden rustling. Her ears pricked forward as she stood absolutely still. Unsure if she had truly heard the sound or if the mist was just playing mind games with her. She knew there was someone hear. Or even something. So her nerves were starting to go on edge. When she heard nothing else Arkrael's body seemed to relax and she shook it off. She shook herself, sending mud and water in all directions. She would have to find a body of water that wasn't so muddy to try and get the grime off her, but she was sure she probably would not find it there and would have to leave the marsh to find clean water. Casting the thought off for now Arkrael looked around and give a gentle sniff at the air in an attempt to smell anything different. With a sigh at not finding anything new Arkrael carried on, trudging through the marsh as she continued to search. She walked around for awhile and with no luck Arkrael was beginning to get discouraged. She had hoped it was someone who would play with her. As fun as it was to go running through the muddy water on her own, she knew it would be even more fun if someone was to join her. Stopping her walk, she nearly stomped her paw down. Why was she being silly? She could practice her magic again! Not only would it help her find the creature again, but it would still give her more experience in trying to use her gem sense. She closed her eyes and attempted to concentrate in hopes of having a better result than last time. Her brows furrowed in her concentration and slowly she could feel her stone start to vibrate within her very being and her eyes popped open wide with a grin. It was working! She waited a bit longer, to see if the sensation would grow stronger, but much to her contempt it did not. It rose to the same vibration as it did last time with the same soft humming and she knew instantly her results had been the same. She frowned deeply as her ears splayed out to the side. However, she could just barely sense the creature again. It was closer this time. So she knew she had to at least be going in the right direction. She just couldn't pinpoint exactly where it was. "Hello?" She called out this time, hoping she would get a response from something. Slowly she began walking, hear ears twisting and turning each way to hear anything that might call back. RE: You'd never believe what can hide within the Mist - Ghanyarah - May 29 2015 When the wolf paused, presumably because she noticed him, Ghanyarah couldn't move. He felt like the blood running through his veins had turned to ice, and his heart had stopped. Then she began to move again and Ghanyarah took the opportunity to dart into the grasses. There, he silently waited for her to move on. There was no way she could've known where he'd gone, she didn't even look in his direction; she wasn't even walking in his direction! He was hiding in the undergrowth a little nearer to her now, but it seemed she had lost him. Until she stopped one more time, and suddenly he could feel a pull of magic towards her. For some reason; there was something about that opal lodged in her chest. Then, before he knew it, she was upon him. Her voice rang out, and Ghanyarah furrowed his brows. The mushrooms were beginning to irritate his wound once more, but he had scraped them off since his encounter with Midas. Maybe they would refrain from sprouting again, at least until he was safe from the wolf. There wasn't time to worry about it now. She was facing him, and she'd called out. It must have been that pull of energy towards her. His tail vibrated rapidly in the dirt before Ghanyarah - without fully understanding just what his legs were doing - launched out of the bushes into the clearing. He was hardly an intimidating size - merely a foot in length, not counting his whip-like tail. And lingering by the edge of the clearing, he hardly posed any threat to the wolf. Regardless, he tried to summon his magic in return, an attempt to warn her to keep her distance. Post Roll Edit: Just as planned, the magic within him swelled and surged. It wasn't like hers, but maybe she would feel it just like he felt hers. An excess of saliva generated from his gums and vent, the only places on his skin that would allow the output of water - with this sudden surplus of water, he spat it at the wolf and hissed, vibrating his tail in an attempt to intimidate her. Arkrael was just about to give up on finding whoever was out here and took a step to leave. Before she could even set her first step down something suddenly lunged out into view at he and a surprised yelp escaped the she-pup and she fell back on her haunches, splashing water all around in her sudden fall. She stared at the little creature that had jumped out at her. She awed when she instantly saw the gems upon the creatures crest. Her admiration of the stones were short lived as a watery substance suddenly hit her right on her nose and she scrunched her nose up instantly. "Eeewww" She whined as she quickly lifted up a muddy paw and began trying to wipe the saliva from her nose. The rattling of this lizards tail was rather disheartening and Arkrael instinctively knew it was an aggressive display. Her ears folded back as she scooted back just a bit away from the cranky little gembound. "Heey, don't have to be like that..." She nearly pouted as she inched back a little more before lowering herself onto her belly to get a better look at him. She hadn't met a gembound like this before. He was most definitely the smallest she had come across. but he was definitely intriguing to the young pup. "I'm not here to eat you," She huffed, unsure why this little thing was showing hostility. Maybe it was because she was much bigger than he and had the potential to eat him? That had to be it. At least that's what it was in Arkrael's mind. "My name's Arkrael. Do you have a name?" She spoke again, attempting to show him she was not here to cause any harm. She studied him as best she could. His muzzle looked like it could potentially hurt if he tried to take a bite out of her, so she would have to keep in mind to keep her distance as she didn't want to learn if that was true or not. However, she couldn't help but try to sniff at him, curious to see what this creature smelled like. RE: You'd never believe what can hide within the Mist - Ghanyarah - May 29 2015 Ghanyarah had leaped out of the bushes, fully prepared to face whatever threat would come his way. Danger was imminent - she knew he was there, and she was bigger and likely faster than him. His only chance was to frighten her away. Only when he emerged from the leaves, spitting water and saliva, she recoiled with a girlish Ewww! and wiped her nose. Then, she shifted and spoke to him, proving his threatening display entirely ineffective. Which was totally great, except it wasn't, and now he was at risk of being eaten because he had thrown himself out in the open in front of a canine with teeth nearly as big as he was. The lizard watched her, and then made a move to retreat back to the bushes when her voice lit up the air again. I'm not here to eat you. He blinked, then narrowed his eyes, processing her words. She wasn't here to eat him? That WAS the thing he was afraid of... but she could just as easily be lying to lull him into a false sense of security. Oh, Ghanyarah was a tragically suspicious creature. He kept his distance and when she asked his name, he cast a sidelong glance of uncertainty. The snake had asked the same question, leaving Ghanyarah to suffer through another bout of fungal growth on his cheek as he thought of an answer. He still hadn't come up with a name. Besides, did he really want to stick around and talk to this canine that could potentially just be lying to him? Ghanyarah looked back towards Arkrael. Though his posture hadn't relaxed any, his attempt at intimidation had faded away into a naturally alert stance. It was then he realized that she was sniffing at him - the dragon shuffled backwards, uncertain. "Why," He demanded indignantly, looking her up and down while she sniffed at him. Well, he certainly was a hostile little thing wasn't he. Arkrael couldn't help the grin that spread across her muzzle. He was no longer spitting icky slobbery water at her anymore, which was a plus, but he definitely hadn't relaxed any from what she could tell. And then his simple question as to why she wanted his name. She laughed a little and lowered her head to rest upon her front paws as she watched him gently. "I don't know why. It's just something people do, isn't it?" She questioned thoughtfully. She wasn't sure why everyone felt the need to introduce themselves to others they had never met before. It was just something she had done. "You don't have to tell me your name if you do not wish to," Again Arkrael offered a friendly smile as her tail slowly whisked through the muddy marsh waters. Vaguely she wondered if his suspicious and hostile personality was something he had been born with, or if something had caused him to act in such a way. Either way, he was intriguing to Arkrael even with his huffy attitude. That and his gem atop his head was rather pretty also. She wouldn't dare tell him that, however. It would probably hurt his ego if Arkrael had to guess anything about the little lizard in front of her. "So do you live out here, or are you just here to explore?" Arkrael would attempt one more time to show this little creature that she meant no harm. If he decided to refuse an answer again then Arkrael would leave him to his dwellings. She didn't want to make the little guy uncomfortable and she certainly didn't want to provoke him enough where he would want to take a bite out of her. That would be the worst. Arkrael had been fortunate enough in her time of existance within Origin that she had only gained small simple injuries. She didn't want to chance getting another that would prove to be more painful. RE: You'd never believe what can hide within the Mist - Ghanyarah - May 30 2015 When she laughed, he narrowed his eyes and pointed his tapered snout up at her. Why was she laughing? Was she laughing at him? Probably. Her words didn't really make any sense either. Ghanyarah didn't often shove his nose at other people - in fact, he rarely did that, considering he rarely interacted with others in the first place. He couldn't understand why she was doing that to him, but maybe it was just a strange predator custom. She then assured him that he didn't have to tell her his name, which he opted not to. He didn't want to have to think about it, and he didn't want to deal with the mushrooms that would probably begin to grow out of his cheek if he did try to think about it. Even though she took her first question back, she asked him another one, and Ghanyarah dared to take his eye off of her for a second to look around. He supposed he did live here. "Yes." The dragon answered after a moment of thought, and looked back at her. "My home." He looked her up and down. "My home." The dragon repeated, emphasizing the fact that she wasn't welcome to occupy the same space as he. He couldn't risk sharing a living space with somebody with teeth so sharp. "But I don't tell you where." He said suspiciously. "You might eat me. So don't follow. Tell no one." Oh yes, Ghanyarah was taking extra measures here. Despite how hilariously adorable he may have sounded, Ghanyarah was being immensely serious. He couldn't risk potentially being hunted down and eaten, especially because of this canine. Arkrael listened intently as the little lizard(or at least she assumed it was a lizard) began speaking again. Of course he wasn't being all the friendly even after she had tried to assure him she was not going to cause him much harm. She offered a smile when he promptly told her he was not telling her where. That was okay. She didn't want to intrude on someone who didn't want her around. His next statement nearly made her laugh again, but she kept it to herself and simply rested her head down on her legs again. "I'm not going to eat you," She spoke again. Only grinning in her attempt to assure him that he would not be on her menu should she get hungry, "And I wont tell anyone. Promise. Plus, I don't live here. Just visiting. I'd probably get lost if I tried to follow you." That wasn't true. Arkreal had the confidence to find her way through anything. Even the eerie fog that always cloaked over Cetus. She wouldn't go looking for the place he lived at in Cetus, but she would find her way home eventually. As suspicious of her as he was being, Arkrael was far to curious of this creature to just leave him to his peace. Sure he could skitter away if he wanted and she wouldn't pursue him out of the respect since he had requested her not to follow, but that didn't mean she had to not be curious of him while he was still here. "So...you're a lizard right?" She questioned curiously, once again looking his small frame over. His fur-less body was covered in something that wasn't fur. She hadn't really seen anything like his sort of skin and she had almost been tempted to push her nose at him. However, she knew that could also get her bit. This fellow definitely did not want such attention from Arkrael. He was already super jumpy with her being there as it was. RE: You'd never believe what can hide within the Mist - Ghanyarah - Jun 11 2015 The big furry predator laughed at him, even when he thought he was being serious and intimidating. He had put on his mean voice and everything! Which, admittedly, was his normal voice because the only time Ghanyarah ever spoke was to tell somebody to stay away. Except for when he met Midas. He narrowed his eyes at the canine and pulled his lips into a grim line. "Better not." Ghanyarah grumbled as she promised not to eat him, or tell anybody else. That was true, he was smaller and he could easily skitter down between some rocks or up a tree. He figured that even if she did get the drop on him, he'd be able to get away in time, diving through the thick undergrowth and along the upturned roots of submerged trees. Ghanyarah gave a tiny huff and settled down on the ground. He stared up at the wolf, and when she asked him what he was, he blinked and tilted his head to look back over himself. Why yes, he was a lizard. That was kind of the basis behind why he was so afraid of other Gembounds. Being a lizard was tough business, especially when you were on the menu for most others. "Yes. Me lizard. What are you? Big hairy? Why?" The lizard questioned again, pointing his nose at all the fur that covered her. Why exactly was she hairy? What purpose did it serve? |
