Where the wild hooves roam - Nemestrinus - Jan 20 2017
It was a laid back day. In fact...most of his days were made up of laid back and lazy days. Hooves moved slowly through the foliage as he grazed at his leisure. He wasn't sure how long ago it was since he frolicked with his friends Saga and Thanatos, but it was long enough for him to grow into the handsome young stud he was now. He hadn't met many gembounds during his time, but he figured it was just because they were all busy doing whatever or sleeping.
It didn't bother him none, but he did have to admit he missed his two pals. A knicker left the stallion as his tail flicked around behind him, swatting at his sides as a few annoying bugs bit at him. Though, at the sound of shuffling foliage his ears perked up and he quickly lifted his head. "Hellloooo?!" He called out loudly, too curious not to. If it was a lesser gembound it would probably run away, but if it were a gembound, perhaps they would come say hello!

The mare didn't know how long she'd been lost and wandering in the shadows of the cave, taking food where she could but meeting no one to share stories with. It took a toll on the young girl's heart. Here was a female that loved to be in the company of others and yet she'd had to wander alone like a wayward soul, it hurt her. How long was she alone for? When would she get to see the face of another? It brought tears to her eyes... or would have if she had felt the pull of her magick within her but the mare hadn't felt it in cycles.
What was happening?
Her muzzle dragged the earth as she grazed in the dark shadow of a tree, sensitive lips moved over the grasses as she took in the sustenance that she needed. Ears perked as she heard something nearby. Fearfully she raised her head, nostrils flaring as she tried to take in a scent. After so long of being alone the female didn't know if she should run or approach the creature. It had been so long since she'd met with anyone.
In one instant she seemed decided on running away but after the smell hit her she stopped and an eagerness seemed to light up her pink eyes.
Nemestrinus? Could it be one of her oldest friends?
Not waiting she decided to rush after the scent, crashing blindly through the undergrowth she approached the place that she knew her fellow equine was. "Nemmy? Nemmy-Nemestrinus?" She called out, pleading and hoping that it was really him. Her muzzle reached out in an effort to grab at mane and hoping she would not be turned away by a mistake on her part.

The response was slow, but sure enough it responded. A voice came out. followed by wild running heading right for her. Excitement shown in his gentle blue eyes as he soon whinnied loudly as the mare came barreling into view. Laughter spewed from the stallion as she moved in closer, grabbing at his mane and he threw his head up and down as he shoved closer to her. He couldn't explain the giddiness he felt in finding that the noise had been his old friend! It was Saga! His dear friend Saga!
His excitement made him stamp around his hooves, even half way kicking up his hind legs as he soon cantered around the mare to look her over as a cheesy grin remained on his features. "Saga! Saga it's so good to see you!" he knickered happily as he made a playful nip at her flank as he moved back around to the front of her. She had certainly grown big! Bigger than him even! Most males might have felt a little envious, but not him!! He was just so happy to see her.
"How are you! Where've you been??" He asked excitedly eagerly searching her pink eyes for an answer.

It was him! She couldn't believe her luck! After so long of wandering without anyone to talk to she'd finally found someone again! Oh! She didn't want to be alone ever again! The mare's own excitement lead her to mirror him, bell-like laughter bubbling from her mouth as she lowered her head to nudge against his withers and neck and nip at his forelock. It was really him!
"Nemmy! Areeh'Eh!" She laughed, she whinnied, she giggled, she smiled. This day just seemed too good to be true! "This One has missed you... so so so much!" She seemed to practically dance on her hooves in excitement, as she stood in front of her friend. The mare fought the urge to sidle alongside him and groom him... First they had to catch up, to see where the other had been! "Saga is happy now that she has you! She has been lost. Much lost, so lonely..." For a moment her voice faltered but then she gave a bubbly giggle and seemed to perk up once more. "But not lonely anymore! She has Nemmy-Nemestrinus again!" And they could be friends and they could stay together and be happy again! "Where have you been? Lost?" It was a good thing they were together again now!

This was proving to be a wonderful day indeed. Nemestrinus listened intently to the mare, ears perked into attention as he practically wiggled around as she spoke her story. As Saga faltered in her words, so too did Nemestrinus in his good mood. She had been alone?! Where was Thanatos?! Was he not with her?! That hot headed stallion...- Nemest snorted loudly through his nose before perking right back up just as Saga had. "Yes! No more being lonely! Nemest is here!" He chortled as he stood up proud and strong...even if he was shorter than her.
Laughter bubbled up from him as Saga questioned his own whereabouts. "Here and there! Exploring. Found Eridanus...very lovely place. Has the most delicious moss to eat! Have you tried? I have been here. Haven't really felt the need to explore. Where's Thanatos? He is not with you?? I thought he was..." He murmured the last part as he thought about it. Had he known Thana had not been around and off exploring with Saga then he would have went looking for Saga! She was his friend after all! How could he allow her to roam alone for so long?!
No more though! Nemest had no intentions of ever leaving Saga to her ownself any more! Wherever she went! So would he. A grin tore across his features, large and happy as he flicked his tail back and forth. "SO! You wanna do anything fun?! Explore something? Go find the best moss to eat?! Anything?" He asked excitely, eager to see if there would soon be some exploring and good times in his near future.

Oh, to hear him say that just set her heart aflutter. No more alone, it was like a dream come true! Not only would she not be alone anymore but she would "not be alone" with her bestest friend! He even went on to tell her about the taste moss around here. She'd never tasted it from here, only the nice grasses. She wondered if they could go find some because-- Oh... He'd asked about Thanatos. Well, to that question she could only give a slight shrug to her shoulders and a questioning tilt of her head. "Saga doesn't know... She thought he was with you." That meant that Nemestrinus had been all alone too! What a cruel fate! "Oh... Saga so sorry! She would have gone with you if only she knew you were alone!" Well, they would fix this! No more being alone! No more making assumptions! They would stick together like glue and make sure none of them suffered through anything by themselves again!
The mare's eyes glittered with excitement as her fellow horse mentioned doing something fun together. "Kir! Kir! Much fun things! The moss! We can find this moss! Then, we can swim!" Ohhhh, she hadn't been swimming in so long! Her pelt ached to have water all over it. "Oh! Oh! We can have much fun together! We can go explore too! Kir! We can find all the much fun things!" The mare continued to dance on her hooves but couldn't keep herself still any long and began to circle around Nemestrinus in the darkness. "We go now, kir?" She reached out and playfully tried to nip at his flanks, eager to begin their long delayed excursion. Oh, they had so much fun to catch up on!

Nemestrinus whinnied gleefully as she finally urged them to go do some fun thing. Though, his mind tried to wrap around on what this Kir was. Was it a nickname? Was that possibly what he was? He pondered about it for a moment only to nicker playfully as Saga nipped at his flank and he gave a playful kick of his back legs, but was mindful to make sure it did not hit his dear friend. "Yes come! I show! I show you where best moss is! And then we can go to Eyes! And swim! I don't think I've swam before...BUT I'LL TRY!" He expressed loudly in his excitement as he jostled forward for a moment only to lower his head and snuffle at the ground he was standing on. Sure there was tasty spongy moss under his hooves. But it wasn't the best moss!
When he thought he caught the idea of which direction it was in NEmest quickly cantered off and in his wake strange mushrooms quickly began to spring up in his wake. Leading a trail in the direction Nemest was going in search of said delicious moss. "This way! It's got to be this way!!" He knickered happily as he continued on, very unaware of the mushroom trail he was leaving behind him.

The bubbly mare let out a trill of laughter as she followed behind her friend. "Good good! Is easy, Nemmy! Saga can teach you!" Saga absolutely adored the water and for some reason had always been able to swim. Even when she was lost and alone she always found comfort in the waves. It was such a calming thing and the only thing that kept her from going insane.
As she cantered alone she noticed that something began to get even squishier underhoof. A quick glance down and a squint in the scant light revealed that there were mushrooms growing from where her friend ran. "Oh, oh! Nemmy-Nemestrinus lookit, lookit! You are growing friends! So many friends!" "Friends" meaning the mushrooms. She remembered a zebra, Kito, who had a similar power and could grow the mushroom "friends". As best as she could the mare tried to avoid the growing shrooms but failed spectacularly and ended up getting mushroom juice all over her hooves which only caused her to laugh in amusement.

Nemestrinus excitedly continued on his way. At least...until Saga's voice quickly drew his attention. He came to a complete halt, lifting his head right up and twisting it back around to gaze at his friend. He blinked before looking down in awe. "Ooh! How cool!" For a moment he paused, looking over the little friends popping up along the ground as he circled around to drop his nose and snuffle along the truffles. He had completely forgotten he could do that. He could remember just barely summoning them before, when Thanatos, Saga, and himself had first met.
He smiled happily and shuffled his hooves around for a moment as he lifted his gaze up to Saga once again. "I bet they're tasty! Maybe we can snack on some before we find the Moss!" He snorted excitedly as he ringed his neck for a moment. With that thought in mind Nemest lowered his head and chomped his teeth right around a few of them, munching them up curiously.

The appaloosa mare bobbed her head up and down in an enthusiastic "yes". It was very cool, downright awesome if she did say so herself! Then, Nemestrinus had the most amazing idea! That they could be tasty! Why, she hadn't even thought of that but as she looked at them she decided that they could definitely be very good tasting. "Oh, Nemmy, that sounds fun fun fun! And tasty!" She giggled. Not waiting a moment longer she bobbed her own head down and began to munch on the mushrooms. They tasted a bit strange at first, the flavor a bit dry and bitter on her tongue... But the more she chewed the more she began to get used to the flavor and begin to like it!
"Oh! These are kaaa! Much kaaa!" Her tongue began to feel a bit... fuzzy and her head a bit light but in a good way! That didn't stop her from eating more of the shrooms, insead if made her want more of them! "Nemmyyyyyyy, why we no eat this before?" She paused to look at him, eyes widening as she vainly tried to see him in the darkness.
