FANGSHINE - Quintus - Jan 21 2017

the spiritual aura of the room of stars drew the gembound in from a not so far tunnel like a sorcerer, for every time he found himself here in orion, it was if he would truly be bewitched by its beauty. his eyes shine far brighter than any of the various gems within his sight, mouth puckered into a small and comical 'o' as he continued to admire everything before him. a part of him longed to reach out and perhaps touch each and everyone of the far off quartz crystals, but the other feared what kind of otherworldly properties lied underneath the seducing exterior. beautiful but deadly, one of quintus's paws would slowly reach out only to stop as soon as he would hear a noise coming from behind him. instantly casting a spell, he would turn around in an effort to catch whoever it was stalking him; "who goes there?"

A heavy sigh escaped the large feline as she prowled through Orion. Darkness enveloped everything and she couldn't remember when it was ever this dark. She had sought her mother out only a few days ago to see if she knew what was going on, but all she had to answer her with was this was how she remembered the caves being when she, herself, had been a cub. Now she was just making her way back home to Eridanus, but much to her annoyance she once again had to traverse through the one area she was not very fond of.

Lost in her own thoughts it wasn't long before she suddenly heard a voice and she felt her body tense up instantly. Her nose wrinkled into a startled snarl, baring her fangs as she froze to her spot. She did not recognize the voice, but that didn't matter. Her horns flashed to life, lightning up the area around her for a brief moment and soon enough the feeling of heartbeats filled her. And one was close. Just in front of her not a good ten feet away and she pondered her options for a long moment. "Who's asking..." She suddenly responded, her voice neither malice nor gentle but rather firm and to the point.

through the effectiveness of the spell, he would manage to figure out just what the stalking creature behind him was. what he would see would interest him, evident in the way his eyes would slightly widen to get a better look. a fellow feline with a pelt as dark as the night and large horns made of what looked like ice protruding out of her skull. that looks like it hurts, eventually he would be given a reply but unfortunately he would not be content with it. quintus's eyes would narrow upon the figure of the stranger and the more he looked at her, the more he would be reminded of a particular individual. cancer? even now he remembered the gembound his sire had used to call his staunchest friend and most wayward enemy. before he could bother himself wondering as to what the whereabouts of the gembound were, quintus would finally reply to the stranger. "quintus, quintus songcat."

The beast was just barely noticeable within the dark and Cure squinted her eyes in an attempt to get a better view. A frown marred her features, but it all drained away as his voice reached him again. The name he spoke made Cure's eyes widen just a little bit. "Songcat? You aren't by chance related to Makyna and Leon would you?" She questioned curiously, inching just a bit closer to try and get a better sniff of his scent. He didn't smell anything like her uncle nor her aunt, but did that really matter?

the stranger seemed to recognize his last name, and what looked like a smile showed in the lion's face. it was to be expected after all both of his parents had been inhabitants of origin cave for the longest and not idle ones either. for all he knew, either one of his parents could have been of assistance to the stranger standing in front of him one time, after all it was a common thing for them to do. they was not only his parents for they also took on the duty of parenting all the other lone gembounds who wandered around the cave, "yes, i happen to be their eldest son." quintus felt proud in being able to say that evident in the almost foolish looking smile in his face, to this day he was thankful for everything makyna and leon had done for him. "how do you know them?"

He answered and another warm smile crossed Cure's features. Though she had yet to spend any quality time with her aunt and uncle, it still sent warmth throughout her to hear she had come across family. "My name is Cure Karkata. Leon and Makyna are my mother's siblings...and my father's...friends..." She wasn't exactly sure on her father's relationship between the bear and lion. Only the brief stories her mother had given her. That of which was only told Makyna happened to be his old girlfriend and Leon a friendly rival that had turned sour in the end. She tried not to ask much about Carcino, knowing full well the grief it put on her beloved mother.

"I suppose that would make us cousins wouldn't it," She laughed softly, slowly easing herself to sit in front of the brute as her beautiful blue eyes searched his silhouette in hopes to better envision just what this male looked like.

quintus's left brow would quirk upwards, and the smile on his face would cease to be upon the realization of the connection he had with the stranger dubbed cure. perhaps they were related but his parents had never told him he had an aunt. either way it did not matter to the lion, the only individuals he truly considered family were his parents and now dead siblings. approaching somewhat closer to the leopard, he would also stop tensing before relaxing on his haunches, "and now we're acquainted." he would continue to analyze this so called relative of his and it suddenly dawned him that cancer had the exact same last name. that must be his daughter, no wonder she reminds me of him so much, "you look just like your father." he would stay focused on her facial features to gauge her reaction, hoping to see that he was correct in his assumption.

A thoughtful hum escaped the leopard as she squinted her eyes just a bit more. How she wished the lights were back on. She could only make out the bare minimum of his features, but she suppose it was good enough as it was. Quintus spoke of her father and Cure could not help the way his ears twisted back and nearly pinned themselves against her skull. "Yeah...I suppose so," he murmured as he drew his gaze away from Quintus for a moment only to shake their had and focus back on him; eager to change the subject. "How is Leon and Makyna? I haven't seen them since I was a cub, and mom...I don't know if you knew her, but her name is Amaria. She hasn't ever mentioned you...you guys weren't rivals or anything were you?" It was a silly question, but Cure couldn't help but wonder why his dear mother had never mentioned a child of her siblings. Maybe she didn't know? That didn't make sense though...she had spoken briefly of three other cubs of theirs.

so i was right, taking note of the look that was suddenly in her face quintus would slightly smile, proud that he was correct in his assumption. although it looked to quintus as if cure and her father were not in the best terms, so the smile on his face would cease as soon as it had appeared. if he had known how uncomfortable the leopard felt when it came to conversing about her father, he would have avoided bringing him up. luckily, cure would change the subject before he could and quintus could not help but chuckle at the thought of butting heads with his so called aunt. "they're doing just fine," he would nod in an effort to reassure his words. his parents were the strongest individuals he had ever met, his biggest role models, they went through so many trials and tribulation but remained strong till the very end. amaria, he gave it some thought but he could not remember anyone with that name and it made him somewhat paranoid. throughout the cycles of the great hibernation, quintus had struggled to keep himself sane and remembering others was how he managed to cope. "name doesn't ring any bells, perhaps she didn't fancy me after all," it made sense considering he was adopted, his 'aunt' probably felt no familial ties to him.
