Like the Snake - Egahi - Jan 21 2017

It was, quite simply, just another day for the serpent named Egahi. She flicked her tongue and followed her senses, hunting for the lesser gembound morsels as she seemingly always did. It didn't take long for her to pinpoint an equally-hungry rat, who fought back with a vengeance. A loud, growl-like hiss erupted inside the dark cave while the dying rat gave it's final shrieks of terror, piercing her scales as a solid "screw you, too!"

After her meal was swallowed up, tail slipping down her throat while jaws flexed back into place, Egahi continued on, enjoying her life in the shadows. Many times she'd been passed by by the may other gembounds who resided or passed through these caves and many times she slipped away undetected or otherwise ignored. Today, though, a ping of lonely and craving for attention pushed her into trying something to catch the eye of the next passer-by.

In no time at all, the very, very large cobra's pearl scales were beaming with light, overflowing the room. It brought a joy over her; one that forced some version of a snake-y smile. Surely she would be seen, now. Noticed by someone who would, hopefully, become a fast friend to accompany her from time to time in these solitary-inducing caverns.

RE: Like the Snake - Septiezal - Jan 22 2017

When he was a snakelet, Canis had surprised him. The old bone room was rich with prey, and he had no doubt that it still was. However, his birthplace soon fell out of use. As his body grew, so did his hunger, and it wasn't long before mice and rats became mere snacks. Septiezal was giant of a snake, a serpent. Once hunted, he was now the hunter and a far cry from the delicate, little hatchling of his past.

He had not lingered in Canis since he left the cavern's monstrous maw for the first time, but it had become useful once more. This time, it was not prey Septiezal hungered for, but knowledge of the past. It was a known fact that Canis was home to many bizarre skulls, but he had never given them much thought until now. He nosed a piece of what he assumed was cranium into the jigsaw puzzle of skull he created for himself, completing it.

Hmm..this one looks a bit.. flat faced. He thought. Septiezal did not know of any Gembounds with a skull shaped like this. Could it belong to a hybrid?

Suddenly, his train if thought was interupped by a bright light. Septiezal snapped his head around. Something or someone, was shining very bright, bright enough to light up this bleak room. His pupils narrowed into slits as he locked his sight onto the source. Childlike curiosity began to swell in him and he left his puzzle behind, scooting aside some pieces as he shifted his massive coils.

No longer was Canis a maze to him. Septiezal slithered quite easily over the mounds of bones. He crept towards the direction of the light, his strong muscles rippled underneath his scales. The serpent suddenly stopped dead in his tracks.

Could it be?

He flicked his tongue, and tasted a familar scent, a scent that he had not tasted in a long time. Septiezal knew exactly who this was. He slithered closer, his heart leaping joy. She was, and still is the only Gembound he had met that was formed like him. And here he was, thinking that something terrible happen to her.

"Egahi." He breathed, lifting his head in disbelief. Her name was the only word he could say to the pearl-scaled cobra. Astonishment had choked him, but maybe her name alone could grab her attention.

All eighteen feet glowed, even as she felt something large move toward her. As she saw him move into her light, his voice unfamiliar, she instinctively reacted with a hiss and flared out her hood as she rose up. As the light was angled upon him, she got a good look and was quick to put together who this very well may be, seeing as how he knew her name.

Egahi relaxed, flattening back to the ground. It was often she felt so small next to another snake. In fact, this was a first for her. She flicked her tongue at him, glow still shining on, joy reemerging after her initial start. He was so much.... smaller back then.

"Septiezal," she replied. Again, the air was tasted by her long tongue, his scent slowly triggering her memory of him. "What are you up to these days?"

The conversation she tried to make seemed bland. Was that all she had? Hell, it was the first time she'd spoken in ages, but to someone she once knew... it seemed so far away. How different was this giant reptile now?
