theyre gonna be out lookin for us all night - Ghost - May 27 2015
RE: theyre gonna be out lookin for us all night - Majesty - May 27 2015 Majesty, at this point in his young life, knew this part of Origin Cave like he knew the back of his paw. He’d been born here, and had hardly left since his hatching. And yet, every now and then, new individuals managed to pop up on his radar every now and then. Not that he minded, of course. He was a kind Gembound (if a bit vain and teensy-bit power-hungry), but kind nonetheless, and he would never dream of chasing a potential friend away. But because there seemed to be so many new creatures to talk to, he had taken it upon himself to start patrolling the tunnel from one end to the other. When he grew tired, he slept, and when he grew hungry he found tiny mice with no Stones to eat. He always felt bad about killing things for food, but there didn’t seem to be much he could about it… He was contemplating this very problem the day he found the creature who looked very much like himself. He was taking his time patrolling near the mid-mark of the tunnel, which he could tell because he had started leaving his scent in particular areas to mark his way, when he started hearing odd sounds up ahead. It sounded like… noises of distress, maybe? Growly sounds and noises of surprise, and then one big angry-sounding sound. What on Earth…? Moving toward the noises with a bit more speed, he attempted to access his Glow to better see what was going on. It worked, but barely, his body giving off faint light that wasn’t much better than the light the tunnel gave off by itself, now that the Generator was working again. (But he didn’t know anything about that.) There! He spotted the Wolf, up in front of him, and immediately stopped short, breath catching in his throat. It was the first time he had ever met another Wolf, and it caught him completely by surprise. This particular Wolf seemed to be… staring at something on the ground? A… a rock. Why was he staring at a rock? Curiosity took over his limbs, and he moved forward, giving a small Woof of greeting. RE: theyre gonna be out lookin for us all night - Ghost - May 27 2015
RE: theyre gonna be out lookin for us all night - Majesty - May 27 2015 One would think Majesty’s run in with Void (Black) would have taught him that charging ahead into situations wasn’t always the best way to go about doing things. But he was still a pup, at least mentally, so things didn’t always register for him. So when the white wolf hunkered down in absolute terror, it took Majesty quite a few steps toward him before he realized that going towards a terrified Gembound could a) scare the crap out of the Gembound even more and/or b) potentially put him into a dangerous situation. Terrified people were often unpredictable. This was something he really needed to figure out. But he was so naturally friendly that sometimes he forgot that not everyone instantly wanted to snuggle and be buddy-buddies. Majesty stopped in his tracks when he was about two feet from the cowering wolf. Had he hands he might have slapped himself for being so stupid. Then, with great care he slowly backed up until there was comfortable buffer distance between himself and the scared Gembound. He decided to go slowly. “Um… hello. I’m Majesty. I’m… I’m not an enemy, okay? I’m friendly, I promise. I won’t hurt you. Are you… Are you okay?” RE: theyre gonna be out lookin for us all night - Ghost - May 27 2015
RE: theyre gonna be out lookin for us all night - Majesty - May 28 2015 Majesty watched with a slightly confused expression as Ghost seemed to… squint at him? What – oh. No wonder the poor wolf was so scared! He was… he was blind. At least, somewhat. The white wolf’s eyes were not completely unfocused and that meant he could see something, right? Majesty felt a pang of sadness for the boy, but shook it out of his head. Pity was never the right emotion for this sort of situation. He might be young, but somehow he knew that pity would get neither of them anywhere. He decided not to say anything about it, though. If he were blind, he didn’t think he’d want anyone’s pity or opinion about it. He’d just make sure to try and move slowly so as not to surprise the boy. Ghost turned and looked back at the fascinating rock, saying something about how it had moved and he didn’t know how… All Majesty knew so far was Light Magic. He didn’t know about any of the other elements yet. So his first reaction was to assume that either the wolf had kicked it and not noticed because he couldn’t see very well, or that he was also slightly brain-damaged. It was a rather harsh thing to think, but… what other explanation was there? He came slowly over to Ghost to look at the rock with him as tried to think of a way to explain that rocks didn’t move on their own – but then the rock moved on its own, sliding across the ground a few inches. Majesty’s jaw dropped. He was speechless. Then Ghost asked him how the rock had moved, and he suddenly got a very crazy idea, turning to stare at the boy. “I think… I think you did it, Ghost. If my Magic is Light, maybe there are other kinds of Magic…?” RE: theyre gonna be out lookin for us all night - Ghost - May 29 2015
RE: theyre gonna be out lookin for us all night - Majesty - Jun 01 2015 ”Magic? Light? What can you do, then?” Majesty sat down beside the boy and thought about it, trying to think of how to show him. He smiled when the thought finally came to him. “I’ll show you what I can do,” he said, facing his Wolf-kin so that hopefully the boy would be able to see it – if it worked. He knew this would make him tired, using his Magic twice in so short a time, but it’s not as though he was going anywhere. If he tired himself out, he could just rest right here and be fine after a little while. Sure enough, his Glow came to him, quite easily in fact. He smiled a bit more. He couldn’t help but feel a little proud of himself. He had been practicing hard the last few days to get his Magic to work, and it seemed to be getting easier and easier. His body lit up like one of those glowing orbs above their heads. “See?” he said to the boy. “This is what I can do with my Magic. I’m sure I can do other things, too… I just haven’t… figured out what yet.” He spent a little more time with the boy, and then felt it was time to leave for now. He promised him they would see each other again some time, fully intending to keep that promise. Little did he know how much he would think of the blind wolf in the coming weeks, after his own blinding... Perhaps this meeting had been some kind of sign of things to come...? [Exit Majesty] |
