Once Lost, Now Found - Gabriel - Sep 26 2017 Since its meeting with Rimese, Gabriel had wandered far and wide. It had visited Polaris with the bone, before continuing the search for Batcat, which had turned out to be a lost cause in the end, like the search for gems to power the lights. Occasionally, the dog had sought out the red fox to watch the progression of its 'gift', but was always careful to stay just out of sight. So far, things had been rather slow going, but it gave Gabriel the chance to complete the other tasks which Gabriel had on its list- one of which was to search Pisces for whatever remained of the Fox's lover. It had proven to be a long search of the large and oftentimes misty Waterfall Room, but Gabriel now knew the layout like the back of his own paw. And today was going to be the day that its perseverance won out. As the dog descended into a hollow amongst the rocks which might once have been a small stream or pond, the corner of its eye caught a glint of colour like fire. A flash of orange, a streak of blue or green. Gabriel twisted its head around, and saw lying there an odd skeleton, almost reptillian in nature. No longer than Gabriel itself, the skeleton lay sprawled and peaaceful. Its face was long and beaky, its head covered in colourful quills. Even its eye sockets were dominated by crystal; the poor creature must have been blind long before it died. Gabriel was surprised that it appeared to be mostly intact. In response to the sad sight of those bleached bones, Gabriel's spirits lifted. This skeleton matched the fox's description exactly. Spikes growing from the head, eyes pushed out... but still, Gabriel couldn't quite picture what it could have looked like in life, much less why the fox could have been so enamored with it. The Emotion-Driven tended to be very picky with their mates, from what it knew. Gabriel approached, and sniffed the ancient skeleton, but there was no scent left to be had. With a teasing paw, Gabriel poked the skull until it was away from the rest of the skeleton. He flipped it over, pushing the jawbones back to be with the rest. from beneath Gabriel couldn't see much more to study; it'd need to take it back to its hoard for a much closer study. With some difficulty thanks to the array of spikes, Gabriel picked up the skull in its sensitive maw, a pinprick of blood appearing just beneath its nose from where one of the spines had prodded. It was easy to imagine how the gem had indeed lead to her downfall. Gabriel sighed, warm breath whistling amongst the crystalline tines. Then it quietly left the skeleton where it lay, headless. Fractures of bone rattled inside the skull as it bumped against Gabriel's chest. -exit Gabriel- "Speech looks like this." "Thoughts looks like this." tags: notes: here |
