I hate this waterfall - Rift (Original) - Dec 29 2017 He thought things were going to get better once he put the leaves on his ear. Things had been muffled for a while and he had graciously been able to walk through the rest of the tunnel without loud noises piercing his skull. However, the small tear in his ear drum had begun to heal and the ringing had gotten louder. And as he passed the waterfall of Pisces, the sound began to return and the pounding of the waterfall pieced his ear. He wasn't happy. Not at all. His head was spinning and he was unbalanced and he was starting to feel a little sick. He had eyed the greening wall as soon as he had gotten into the cave and that was his destination. There would surely be friends over there. And if there wasn't he would make some. Yes, he could make friends wherever he wanted. He finally managed to stagger onto the soft, springy grass. There wasn't much and he was mildly disappointed by the lack of fluffy leaves. But his head was pounding so bad that he couldn't muster the strength to walk and look around anymore. He flopped to the ground as magic pooled in his legs and stomach. As he hit the earth, plants began to spring out from every inch of earth around him; big, lushious young plants that covered and warmed him. He raised his head and thrust his face into one of the nearby leaves to muffle as much sound as possible. It worked a little bit, but it was enough for him to be content for now. He sighed and let his mind wander as he rested his poor aching head. "Speech looks like this." Thoughts look like this. tags: @Kera notes: RE: I hate this waterfall - Ritonai - Dec 29 2017 Near the young cougar, a creature of her own being was ready to hatch. She yawned in the fluid, stretching as much as she could in the cramped chrysalis. Then, she struck out, smacking the hard rocky substance, hoping to break it. She cracked it, and that was progress. Opening her eyes to reveal more darkness, the little creature headbutted the chrysalis, breaking it. The little Fennec fox stumbled out of the shards, shaking wildly and freeing herself of the slime-like fluids. "What is this place..." She muttered on instinct. Surprised at what she had done, the fox spoke again. "Ritonai. Nai. Ritz. My name is Ritonai, but you can call me Nai or Ritz." She told no one in particular. Nai just wanted to test out words, her own name, just existing in general. (Hope ya don't mind I hatched here!) @Rift RE: I hate this waterfall - Kera - Dec 29 2017 Of all the rooms, Kera liked this one the least. It was cold, and it was wet, and it was horrible. And icky. Like a rat. Kera hated rats. Stepping along unevenly through the darkness, Kera lifted her head and sniffed the air. Among the water and the cold, there were two new smells. Something with fur, and something with plants. They were close. As Kera started to follow it, she came to the faint silhouette of a cat laying among the grass. Strange. It would need light, surely? She pressed her nose close to the burst of grass around the big-cat-cub, and focused. It took a good while, and the results weren't.. wholly there. One or two eerily-glowing green mushrooms had sprouted among the grass, supplying very dim light. Nothing that would illuminate anything around, but only a few inches around them. It was good enough, at least-- but now there was another thing. A crack and a voice from somewhere else. Kera turned her head, quizzically, and shifted away from the sleeping creature to carefully call out. "Hello? Who's there?" It smelled. She could smell it-- wet, and cold, something with fur as well. Did it just hatch? Gross. She glanced back towards the cat and her new mushrooms and decided to sit down here, quietly, keeping the weight off her injured leg as she kept her ears perked high for a response. She could hear, somewhere, water. Which meant fish. Maybe she'd catch this new thing a fish and they could be friends. @Rift RE: I hate this waterfall - Rift (Original) - Dec 29 2017 Rift though he heard a voice, but he ignored it, as his head was still annoying him. But then it was louder, more confident, and he couldn't stop the curiosity. He looked up from his plants and was greeted with a small creature, newly hatched and testing its voice. Because his ear was still smashed in the leaves, he was able to listen to its voice without too much pain, but he decided not to get up and test it. "Hello, Ritonai. I'm Rift. I'd get up to say hello but I'm not feeling too well." It took him a few seconds to notice the lights around him as well as eh wolf pup behind him, but when he did, he curiously looked up and was so startled that he cried out and scrambled away, his ear ringing loudly at the sudden noise. He tumbled away, the leaves falling away from his ear and reintroducing sound. He immediately slapped a paw on his head, right over his ear hole to try and lower the volume. It worked somewhat and he was able to look up at the dog, who had in fact some nothing wrong and speak. "I'm so sorry, you startled me!." "Speech looks like this." You scared the hell outta me! What the heck wolf girl?" Nai exclaimed, her paws carrying her closer to the pair. Nai didn't like her already. You do NOT sneak up on people like that! Especially newly hatched people! "As I was saying, before this wolf girl rudely interrupted me, it's nice to meet you Rift! Call me Nai!" @Kera (Sorry for sass, she is just sassy XD Gotta lover her tho) RE: I hate this waterfall - Kera - Dec 30 2017 Kera's eyes flicked towards the cougar with some alarm as he yelped and scrambled back. She stood up herself, wide-eyed and ears perked high. What was it doing? Why was it doing that to its head? Perhaps it was blind, like Kielo, but instead of smelling better than people, this one heard better? Kera did not know. "I'm sorry," Kera said with a soft voice-- as soft and quiet as she could muster, even. "I didn't want to wake you, I thought you were--" Interrupted by the other newly-hatched creature, Kera turned a quizzical stare across to the fox. "I didn't sneak up on anyone," she said simply. "I can't sneak if I am bringing light. That defeats the purpose of sneaking, which means to stay hidden." What was that word that Kin-Kin had used to describe the clouds? Asshole? It was a fitting word for this fox, at least. Bristled with frustration, Kera carefully sat herself back down and turned her gaze back to the cat. "You're not feeling well?" She asked softly, quizzically. Had it eaten something bad, something that smelled bad and was full of rot? "How do you feel better? Do you need fish, or water, or sleep? Do you need all of them?" @Rift RE: I hate this waterfall - Rift (Original) - Dec 30 2017
Rift looked from the fox to the wolf. He was a little overwhelmed by the amount of interaction he was all of a sudden having. He had never been with anymore then one gembound before. Besides his friends, of course, but his friends didn't really talk. Of course, he loved that they didn't. It was nice to be in silence. He didn't appreciate the fox's loud voice and cringed at her exclamation. "Can you please maybe keep your voice down? It's nice to meet you too, Nai, I just can't deal with loud noises." he whispered. However, the wolf's volume he was happy about. He smiled at her as he rubbed his gem-encrusted ear. "That's okay, I wasn't sleeping. I was just resting. I've got a pretty bad headache. Everything is very loud in my right ear. Maybe I just have to get used to it." He liked the wolf, she was very nice and considerate. The fox was screaming and pushing her away while the wolf was whispering and offering relief (although few of those would really help his headache, and he didn't know what some of them were, he appreciated it nonetheless). And the lights she made, although they were small, were very pretty. He wondered if he could make lights like that too. Maybe his friends could make light? He wanted to try. He focused his magic to his feet and touched the ground in front of him eagerly, searching for different seeds beneath the earth. There were strange things on the surface of the grass that he realized he could grow. He grew excited. Maybe they would bring light? And in must a few moments, there was a nice sized patch of young moss, faintly glowing in the darkness. Giddy with excitement, he looked from the fox to the wolf, wondering what they would think of his new, awesome friends. ___________________________________________________________ "Speech looks like this." She whispered in the quietest voice she could. "Still. This wolf is kinnndddaaaa rude. I don't like her, but you're alright, Rift." Ritonai said, one ear moving to the side just a little. Woah! That was cool! Maybe she could do it too. Summoning her own magic, her amethyst horns gave off a soft purple glow. Her ears began to smoke a bit, her paws began to heat up, and just a teeny bit of smoke came from her nostrils. It burned a little, but at the moment it was bearable. Ritz stepped forward, turning Rift's glowy moss into smoldering ash. The heat now singing her fur and burning her a little, Nai let the spell go. Looking at the ashy piles beneath her small paws, Ritonai gasped. "Omigosh Rift I'm so sorry. I really didn't mean to do that." The fox whisper-squealed. She wanted to make light, not destroy it! @Rift @Kera RE: I hate this waterfall - Kera - Jan 01 2018 Kera dipped her head gently towards the cougar. "I'm sorry," she said quietly, nearly a whisper. "Is there anything I can do to help? Does anything help it at all?" She ignored the fox for a time, not wanting another fight to break out should she lose dwindling patience, keeping her eyes on Rift for now. When the glowing moss sprouted, Kera almost leapt to her paws, wide-eyed, tail wagging. Her mouth opened to shout, but she quickly managed to stop herself-- speaking in a gentle, excited whisper instead. "You can grow things too. You can grow and make light." This was good news. This was very good news-- that there were more than she and Giggle out there. The things this one grew were different, however-- they were leafy and green, and they smelled better. She moved over to carefully sniff the moss, eyes glimmering faintly with awe. She recoiled as they promptly burst into flame and she grimaced, idly patting out the smouldering herbs before concentrating quietly. She tried to grow more mushrooms in their place, but she couldn't find any spores-- or perhaps they were unwilling to grow where a fire had been so shortly before. "That was rude," she said quietly, eyes flicking to the fox briefly. She looked back to Rift, ear flicking. "Can you teach me how to grow those?" she asked in an admiring whisper. "I can teach you how to grow light-mushrooms, or mushrooms you can eat, or mushrooms that will protect your fur." @Rift RE: I hate this waterfall - Rift (Original) - Jan 01 2018
Rift frowned at the fox. He didn't understand why they thought Kera was rude. She was being really nice, actually. He decided not to respond to her comment, just give her a confused look. He turned towards Kera and his expression brightened a little. "That's alright, I haven't found much that helps yet. Sometimes I like to make little crowns with my friends - like this!" He reached forward and carefully plucked one of his friends from the ground, with a whispered apology. He stripped off the young leaves and covered his ear with them, tying it together with the thin branch. Proud, he showed it to Kera. When she complimented his glowing moss, he smiled big. "Yes, they're my friends! I've never met these friends before, but they're very pretty!" He nosed his moss affectionately, but then froze as they burned and turned to ash. He blinked, not initially realizing what had happened, but then it came to him. His friends were dead. He looked up at Ritonai, his mind blank. "My friends. You killed my friends." And then the rage started to set it. The anger. The grief for his lost friends. Maybe she didn't realize how much his friends meant to him, because they meant more then her. And she had killed them with her disgusting fire. He didn't even hear Kera's voice above his fury and Nai's apology went over his head. The next thing he knew, his claws were out and he was throwing himself at the fox' direction, teeth flashing.
