Azar dipped his nose into the mud beside the river, felt among the damp stones and dead reeds. His body shook with excitement as he searched desperately, as a magpie would search for its treasure. What he was doing, this would save someone. He truly hoped it would save someone. He lifted his head proudly, ears flattened against his head. His eyes were blazing as he returned to the ground, tail caked in mud. He knew it was here somewhere, it had to be, because he felt it was and his feelings were generally correct. Azar listened to the constant gurgle of the stream somewhere nearby, spitting out dirt. He threw aside many pebbles and many large rocks in his search, carelessly, with no regard for their shattering. Occasionally, he heard the collision of rock against rock, but it didn't bother him. Not today. When the fox finally saw a sparkle among the pebbles beneath him, he dug only harder.

Fira, who was still hanging around Polaris to watch the storm with worry, was walking along that day and came across a fox Gemling digging in the mud. Brows drawn together in confusion and worry, she called out to them. “Hey, kid, whatcha doin’? You shouldn’t be here with this storm goin’ on. Might be dangerous.” Yet, the Gemling seemed determined to dig for… something. Pebbles were flying everywhere. Fira drew closer to him, craning her neck to try and see what he was digging for. “Okay, what are you doing?” she repeated. She glanced up at the storm for a moment before turning back to the fox.

Azar lifted his head. ‘I found a gemstone,’ he explained excitedly, his tail wagging. ‘My name’s Azar, what’s your name?’ He grinned happily, he’d never thought that he’d meet another gembound here. Just an added bonus, he supposed. He watched the gembound in awe. ‘Wow,’ the fox yipped, ‘you’re quite a bit bigger than I am.’
