Fairy lights and disco balls(olympic preparatiom) - Kin-Kin - Feb 27 2018 Kin-Kin was once again indulging in around of practice, and once again, it was one that would come in useful. She was using this opportunity not only to prepare for the olympics, but consider her strategy, and practice her skill with Arcane as well, which was something she hoped would serve her in the future. She didn't know what she'd use it for exactly, but... well, she supposed it didn't hurt to know, at least. As the currently reigning magickal champion, it couldn't hurt to try staying ahead of her game. Kin-Kin had made several track markers already, spikes of clear quartz with a glowing crystal embedded inside. They were designed to be driven into the ground and guide the obstacle coursers on the correct route, but she felt she needed a lot more. So, when Imperia had drifted from physical presence back into the back of her mind, Kin-Kin had struck out, finding another terrain rich in rocks. And there she worked, magic flowing and glow bright, to bring a new wave of style into the world. Placing her paws apart, she felt the earth groan as it shifted beneath her paws. A creaking sound like compressing glass reached her ears, and when she looked down, a milky crystal sat in a hollow in the earth. When I speak. When I think. @Gypsy RE: Fairy lights and disco balls(olympic preparatiom) - Gypsy - Feb 27 2018
RE: Fairy lights and disco balls(olympic preparatiom) - Kin-Kin - Feb 28 2018 Kin-Kin's ears twitched to the sound of a voice; a young voice, and one that she'd never heard before. Lifting her gaze from the crystal she'd made, her gaze was drawn to the sight of a little bird hopping over to her, still fuzzy with down. Her expression flickered briefly to one of surprise; in all of the cycles she lived, it was rare that young ones approached her; usually, she was the one to seek attention. "Hello!" the she-wolf called, composing herself immediately with a flamboyant shake of her head. The faint glow about her brightened. "What brings you here, little bird?" Bright little thing, wasn't it? If the mask they wore wasn't curious enough, their little feathers were aglistening with colour. Kin-Kin was also amused by the boldness of such a wee thing. At their question, Kin-Kin pawed at the crystal she'd made in the dirt, pulling it free of its crater so that the little one could look. "I'm glad you asked," she said, with a wink in their direction. "You've heard of the olympics, yes? Well, I'm making some track markers for the obstacle course. Watch this." She dropped her nose, gently nudging the crystal as she poured her magic into it. Her glow dimmed slightly as it was transferred into the stone, which glowed with a bright white light. Eyes gleaming with pride, Kin-Kin raised herself back up to full height and glanced at the little bird expectantly. When I speak. When I think. @Gypsy RE: Fairy lights and disco balls(olympic preparatiom) - Gypsy - Feb 28 2018
RE: Fairy lights and disco balls(olympic preparatiom) - Kin-Kin - Mar 01 2018 Kin-Kin smiled broadly at the little one's response. She knew that she was going to appreciate this little one's company, especially if they gave her the chance to show off- er- teach them a trick or two. "Heh-heh... well, I am the brightest thing around," she said, in a manner that was far from humble. her tail swished beneath her cloak. "Ya don't know? well. I suppose you do look pretty new..." she gave the little one a curious look before shaking her head, and grinning. "Well, we of the caves like to indulge in a little bit of... friendly competition... every now and then. That's what's behind the olympics. There's a bunch of us get together, and hold three competitions. Magic, wrestling, and the obstacle course. Me? I'm the currently reigning magickal champion. And this year, I hope to defend my title." she bared her fangs in a broad grin. She grinned even wider at the little one's reaction to her magic, obviously pleased by the little one's response. "Quite somethin', ain't it? The wonders of light magic, huh? You'll be pleased to know that's the least I can do!" Kin-Kin settled down and prepared for a show. Her glow brightened, and she poured her energy into the earth at her paws. Tendrils of clear quartz emerged from the ground around the now-glowing crystal, encasing it in a crystal sphere, which crackled and creaked as its vertices smoothed. The shape intensified and refracted the light like a prism, and when Kin-Kin dropped her muzzle to yank it out of the earth, she revealed that its lower half culminated in a pointed spike of crystal. This was a good one. When I speak. When I think. @Gypsy RE: Fairy lights and disco balls(olympic preparatiom) - Gypsy - Mar 01 2018
RE: Fairy lights and disco balls(olympic preparatiom) - Kin-Kin - Mar 03 2018 Kin-Kin grinned proudly at the young one's response, rolling back her shoulders to adjust the fabric she wore. "Mmmm-hm! But it's been many cycles since then. This time, I'm protecting my title. but I've taught many students since then... time will tell if any of them can surpass me." Her grin widened even further. at least, when she put it that way, she could at least claim part of the glory, should any of her 'students' win. Kin-Kin winked at the little bird's enthusiasm. "Heh, heh! Slow down, kiddo! I need to know what i'm dealing with here, first." she was grinning with mirth, however. "So, tell me. You done much in the way of magic before?" When the bird asked her name, Kin-Kin rose to her paws, standing tall and holding her head high with pride. Her tail swished, leaving a glitter of gold on the air, her glorious glow burning bright throughout the rest of her being. "The name's Kin-Kin; Magickal Champion of the Caves, and Demigod of Light." RE: Fairy lights and disco balls(olympic preparatiom) - Kin-Kin - Mar 04 2018 Kin-Kin winked at the little one's question. looked like she was going to have to improvise a little... although she'd earned the title for herself, she didn't really believe that the Gembound she'd guided through the darkness was a god. If anything, she was sure that she'd been the more powerful one. "A demigod is a master magician, an expert of their trade. Someone who can do anything they set their mind to, and who self-proclaimed gods themselves look up to for guidance," Kin-Kin explained, slowly and grandly. The little one was a newbie when it came to magic, then- no matter. Kin-Kin wasn't worried; she'd dealt with plenty of newly-hatched gembounds before. Kin-Kin settled back on her haunches, and as the glow surrounding her gradually faded to its usual levels, she shrugged her cloak back until it rustled, and visually prepared herself for a lesson holding head high and looking knowledgeable and proud. "So... each and every one of us is born with an innate connection to an element. You know that, yes? but what connects us to our magic, is the gems we carry." Kin-Kin raised a paw and gestured to the moonstone upon her chest. "So, when I use magic... Well, when I started out at least... It was always easiest when I closed my eyes and tried to focus in on my gem. can ya do that? It's like grabbing at an invisible energy source somewhere inside of ya. Ya dunno what it's gonna be, but if ya can grab at that energy and..." She paused, doing as she had told the youngster to do, chin to her chest and the glow shining about her dimming into darkness. She closed her glittering eyes. After some time, the magic failed to come, even though Kin-Kin frantically groped for the tendrils of energy flowing throughout her being. She let out a chuckle, slightly hoarse with embarrassment. "W-well, that was gonna be my next lesson but... remember, kid. Magic can be notoriously unreliable. The important thing is that ya don't give up." When I speak. When I think. @Gypsy RE: Fairy lights and disco balls(olympic preparatiom) - Gypsy - Mar 04 2018
