[WRESTLING] Haruo vs Gypsy - Gypsy - Mar 06 2018
Gypsy hopped into the ring with a determined chirp as the announcement was made: she had been matched up with someone called Haruo. Nerves wracked her body and she felt her legs shake. She’d signed up after a cruel Gembound had tricked her and called her small and weak. She wanted to prove that she was just as capable as anybody else. ‘I… I can do it!’ The little avian tried to encourage herself. She overheard a couple of creatures from the audience sniggering and pointing at her. “Ohhh, that little thing is going to be wrestling? What a joke!”, and “I already know the outcome of this one!” were some of the things they were saying. Gypsy grit her beak. She would show them! Big things come in small sizes, didn’t those idiots know that? She spread her wings and puffed up her chest feathers in a (rather comical) attempt to look bigger as she waited for her opponent to show. “Come at me, whoever you are!” She chirped loudly for everyone to hear. “Or are you too afraid to even show face?” Deep inside, she hoped her opponent was someone tiny, just like her.

haruo wasn't entirely sure what was going on, but that was fine. he had a gist of an idea. he had begun to pick up enough of what the other animals were saying to volunteer himself for this competition, and although the creatures who had came and went into the circle formed by a crowd of onlooking animals intimidated him a bit, he was relieved that the one he would be facing appeared not to be so big that he could clearly see them through the crowd. 'wrestling' looked fun regardless, but haruo knew he wouldn't last very long against huger, stronger adults like he'd seen matched up so far.
at the sound of his name being called, he bleated excitedly and scrambled through the larger gembounds in the crowed. his heart was racing! he had been so deprived of a real opportunity to wrestle! this would be so fun!
and so into the 'ring' bounded the tiny, spotted fawn, still young enough to be suckling his mother no doubt. but not too young to have a good time! not this one!
"haruo... here!!!" bleated the little deer at the top of his lungs, and he clicked his hooves up and down a few times on the stone dramatically. his english was still clearly very strained, and he had a hard time pronouncing the hard consonants that weren't in his name, but clearly once the words left his mouth they were out of his mind. what was important was... his opponent?
his eyes scanned the area for several moments, looking back and forth in what was probably a pretty offensive gesture to the little bird (unbeknownst to him, of course) before he finally caught the source of the... well, literal chirping at him, actually.
she was so small... he would have to spend the whole time trying not to squish the little bird! this wasn't even a competition. he would just really hurt her if he tried to headbutt her! haruo was so sad and so disappointed. his hind legs faltered a bit, as if they wanted to sit so he could pout, but he righted them to stand straight. well... might as well have fun with it?
"こ、小と。。。small bi--rd-uh," it took him a moment to think of the words, and to say them was a struggle--his japanese accent was thick, and the words sounded soft and flowed together where they would have been hard and clear from most other gembounds. "watch-out," he over-enunciated between the words, creating a sort of 'ye-ouch' sound. perhaps not the most appropriate choice of words to use when addressing someone who wanted to prove themself, but haruo did not know anything about this bird, and it was the only way he knew how to say 'be careful' in a way other gmebounds understood. his worried tone would have to be enough to get across the message that he did not mean to taunt her!
even with all that said, haruo still didn't really think it would be fair to go first, so he ducked his head in traditional fawn-playfight-initiation fashion and waited for the little bird to make a move.

"Haruo... here!!!" A young fawn, at least seven times her size pranced into the ring as if he was super excited. She froze up and eyed his hoof as it clicked on the stone dramatically. Oh dear. Oh dear. If she was under that, she’d be squashed… like a bug. She gulped. Her confidence was sinking fast. The thoughts of winning this was crashing around her spectacularly. The young creature looked around, glancing right past her and then back again, multiple times. Gypsy stood stiff, and then suddenly realised what was happening. The fawn was not even acknowledging her as an opponent! He was simply ignoring her. Indignance arose and she felt her temper rise. Again and again, other creatures mocked her simply because she was small! “Oi, I’m over here, pea brain!” She chirped in offense as she jumped up and down, waving her wings around. Her voice shook a little, but her irritation shone. The fawn finally noticed her, but he looked… disappointed?! Okay, that was it. She was going to show him for good that she was a worthy opponent. "Small bi--rd-uh。。。," the creature spoke slowly. “Watch-out” Gypsy glared. What? It was hard to understand his accent; she’d never heard anything like it before. She definitely thought he said “Watch-out” though. She briefly remembered the clicking hoof and the horrifying thought of being squished like an insect. She shook her head. No, no, no… This would not do! She couldn’t be scared now! “D-Don’t hold back!” She yelled at him. She wanted to fight fair and square, otherwise people would say she won because Haruo went easy on her. Or laugh at her even more, for losing when he went easy on her.“I-I’m s-stronger than I look?!” The last statement sounded like a question, hanging heavy and uncertain in the air. She hopped on the spot anxiously, trying to anticipate what the spotted fawn would do. But the deer only ducked his head playfully. The move increased her agitation. It felt like he was making a fool of her and she didn’t like it at all. Fluffing up her feathers, she decided to go on the attack first. Mustering all of her courage, she spread her wings and ran up to the fawn with a screeching cry. She attempted to headbutt his front right leg, putting all of her body weight on the attack. She only hoped it would be enough to cause at least a bruise.

strong... he knew that one. she was probably declaring her own strength. the little bird looked nervous, but she sounded determined; haruo could admire that, but he was still so worried about squashing her!
patiently he waited for his opponent to make a move, though he could not see very much anyway with the top of his head directly facing her direction. when she screeched, he winced, but held his position and waited for impact.
the feathery bullet that collided with his foreleg startled him more than anything, and he bleated in surprise and kicked forward reflexively, miraculously missing the baby bird by just the feathers on the tip of her head. it put him off balance, and he fell back onto his furry rump, sending him sliding sideways and quickly scrambling to get back on four hooves.
well!! it did kind of sting, but the pain faded in a few moments. it was enough to make him huff indignantly, though, and it was certainly reassuring that the little bird hadn't smashed her bones colliding with him like that. he should probably still be careful... but at least it wouldn't be totally mean and humiliating for her if he hit her now.
in the moments that he righted himself back into impending-headbutt-position, haruo watched gypsy flutter about and worried how he'd even connect himself with such a tiny target and not smash her.

It was almost like running into a wall, except Haruo’s fur and her feathers softened the impact a little. She felt a little dazed, but otherwise content that she had connected perfectly enough for him to bleat in surprise. She blinked as his reflexive kick barely missed the tip of her head. An ice-cold wave ran through her body in shock. That… had been close! As the fawn crashed onto his backside, the little avian quickly shook her herself out of it. She still felt a little dazed after the head-on attack. Perhaps she should try more subtle methods, and play to her strengths. ‘O-Okay, that was still a great start!’ She encouraged herself. She couldn’t see if her attack had caused any real damage, but he had fallen over, and that was more than she had hoped for. Haruo was already getting on his feet as Gypsy pondered what to do. A plan started to form in her mind and she nodded to herself. Her tail wagged energetically as she quickly hopped in a wild, unpredictable manner all around the deer, lunging in closer and then backwards as if to tease him. “H-Hey! I bet you can’t headbutt me, like I did you!” She mocked. She took a deep breath and continued. “I’m too fast and agile for you to headbutt, you big, lumbering bumbo!” She hoped he would fall for her taunting as her plan depended on it. But she also worried that she wouldn't be able to dodge a headbutt after all. The dazed feeling in her head stayed and her movements weren't as agile as she would have liked.

as gypsy seemed to get back on her metaphorical feet, she tweeted at him something... about heatbutts! maybe she was taunting him?
well, that was really unfortunate, because she was just jumping high enough for him to really do that, and she was doing a pretty poor job of being unpredictable about it too. haruo almost felt bad, but he couldn't deny this opportunity, so when she peaked the height of one of her jumps, he sprang forward and rammed his round little skull right in the direction of her fluffy tummy.
it was a lot more force than he'd really intended to use, and he'd forgotten to be careful... he didn't realize it at the moment, but if his hit landed, he would immediately worry he'd send her flying.

Yes, that had been a terrible idea. The deer’s head suddenly rammed into her when she was still in the air, and being unable to fly yet, she was completely at his mercy. It didn’t help that she was still feeling dazed either. Bright stars burst in her vision and she yelped out in pain. Her entire body felt battered as the avian was flung upwards. Then she was falling and falling…. Then plop! The landing was softer than she expected. In a daze, she looked around and it dawned on her where she was - on the fawn’s head! By some strange twist of events, she had managed to get where she had actually aimed to be with her taunts - on top of the deer. Her body had paid the price though, and she struggled to get back on her talons. She was not yet done fighting! With her beak, she gripped the fur on Haruo’s head and pulled with all her might as hard as she could. Surely that would be painful? She only wished she would be able to hold on without falling off.

What was going on?
Sizzle hadn't been paying terribly much attention lately. She'd learned the bare minimum, that a series of events were going to be happening, but other than that she was blissfully unaware.
So the rather large gathering of Gembounds definitely drew her attention. She slithered towards them, muttering apologies as she began to work her way through their legs. The snake could make out... something, going on.
Finally, she found herself able to see, and as she watched, a little blue-white bird slammed into a deer fawns' leg. She cringed as the deer fawn reacted by kicking out with its legs, nearly striking the bird. Her head swayed as she attempted to keep the bird in sight, only for the deer fawn to barrel at it. The bird was flung up into the air, before landing on top of the deer.

oh--he didn't have much time to ponder that sentiment, though, before he realize she was falling right back onto his head! quickly he looked down, else he'd have had her feathers in his eyes.
within seconds of gypsy landing on his head, he was in searing pain--it was as if she was trying to pull his fur straight out of his head! haruo screamed in pain and began to panic, shaking his head wildly. if there was a noise from the crowd, he was unable to focus on it.
try as he might, the little bird had a tight grip on the fluffy hair on his head, and she would not fall free. driven wild by the pain, haruo twisted his body to the right and jut his right hind leg upwards to force her off of his head.
his leg wouldn't stretch all that far, especially in his youth, but he was sure it would be enough to knock such a tiny, fragile creature off balance.

The little bird hung on with all her might, trying to not fall off as the deer shook his head wildly. She heard shouting and hissing in the distance, perhaps from the audience, but she couldn’t focus on it in the chaos. The fawn’s screams rang in her ears - and she knew her method of causing pain was at least working. Her grip on his fur was slipping though. As the deer twisted to the right and jutted out his leg towards her, she finally lost the grip and was sent flying in an arc. She snapped her beak and talons wildly to try and grasp his tail as she flew by it. She just managed to grab hold of his tail hairs by a few strands. The avian tried her best to get a better grip with a talon and again pulled with all her might, dangling there precariously.
