Curiosity killed the...mouse? - Amaria - Jun 07 2015
It had only been a little while since Amaria had came to be within the Cave. Still she didn't know what it was called, but Amaria didn't figured it really mattered all that much at this current time. She had not been alone when she awoke. Her big brother Leon had came tumbling down to her rescue and soon followed her Big Sis Makyna had bounded her way down as well. It had been then that they had guided her to where they lived. A broad grin grasped onto the little cub's features as she made her way through the moss and ferns. This place was gorgeous. Way more pretty than the riverbed she had been born in. Not that it was a riverbed anymore! Now water rushed through it like she assumed it was meant to. When it happened, or how it had happened, but regardless of any of that Amaria was fine with it. It was when the water had rushed through the riverbed that the caves she was born into had become much brighter. In most places anyways. There were still a few nooks and crannies she would find herself in that were still shrouded in darkness. A rumbling in her stomach quickly drew Amaria's attention. At first she was confused by the sensation. So confused in fact she had drew her wandering paws to a halt and craned her head down to look between her front legs down at her tummy. It was a strange sensation. An unpleasant one. She looked about after she frowned over the idea of it. Hunger. She was still fresh, so the sensation was still relatively new to her. Alas, her predicament seemed to be worse off than it should have been. She hadn't a clue on how to even find something to eat. What was there to eat around here? Her pondering mind took pause as her blue eyes settled upon the large thing just feet away from her. Her mouth seemed to fall open as her eyes grew wide. It was huge. It easily made the kitten feel like an ant standing under a tree root. Her curiosity struck hard and the once pangs of hunger were dismissed as she now headed for the Monarch. "I wonder if Maky has seen this before..." She awed aloud, mostly to herself unaware if someone else may be around at the time. It almost reminded her of a tree. Trees were climbable! But it was so tall. No worries! Amaria's rump wiggled as she was now determined to try. She took her first leap at the base of the Mushroom, easily gripping the thing with her claws and slowly she began to pull herself upwards. Her ascent was going well. So well in fact Amaria decided she would look below her to see how far she had gotten. It was a wrong choice to make. Her heart slammed against her chest as she saw how high she had gotten from the ground. Fear quickly crept up along her spine and her fur began to bristle up in response. No. This wasn't something she could do. What if she fell? With a nervous gulp, the clouded leopard cub decided it was not the wisest decision to climb up such a super tall structure. Quickly, yet very slowly, Amaria eased herself back down. Eager to get her paws back on the ground again. Maybe she would just go find something to eat instead. Like a mouse. She could just vaguely remember Makyna having said something about a mouse. Whatever that was. RE: Curiosity killed the...mouse? - Majesty - Jun 07 2015 Majesty was in an oddly good mood today, especially considering he was visually impaired now. That had put a damper on his usually chipper mood for some time, but today he was feeling rather a bit like his old self. This both made him annoyed and made him happy at the same time. It was a weird mix of feelings, not knowing how to feel about feeling good. He shrugged off his confusion and swept his yellow-tinted eyes across the new area, immediately stopping when he saw the giant mushroom in the center of the room. Well, that was certainly a landmark to go check out if there ever was one! With a bit of a spring in his step, he bounced through the ferns and bushes and mosses to the center of the room, and stared in wonder at the giant fungus. He had never its likeness before, and he enjoyed looking at it. And that was when he noticed the other Gembound in his vicinity, carefully climbing down the stalk of the mushroom. He watched, feeling a bit impressed, as she slowly made her way to the ground. Then, he went over to her, tail wagging and said, “Hello! I’m Majesty, and I’m partly blind!” Of course, that last part hadn’t been at all necessary, but he was still bitter about everything, so he couldn’t help blurting it out. He plastered a fake grin across his face, his good mood quickly dropping down to the pit of his stomach. Aaaaand, here was the new, angry Majesty, head rearing once again. Well, so much for being happy. His face went from smiling to sour and straight in a second, and he sat down on the ground, tail still and no longer wagging. He said no more to the girl, lost in his own mind, feeling sorry for himself. RE: Curiosity killed the...mouse? - Makyna - Jun 07 2015 After her confrontation with the wolf the lioness had simply curled into a ball and cried herself to sleep. She felt only misery and sadness that not even her dreams could help because in her sleep she dreamed she was the wolf again and her sight was taken over and over again in a painful way. It caused her to whimper and tremble until finally she awoke feeling just as terrible as she did before, perhaps even worse because of the dreams. For a while, she didn't know how long, perhaps a few hours, she still lay there. Emotionally she felt to terrible to rise but her physical needs demanded it. Her body was starting to cramp up and her stomach began to rumble for food. She wanted to lie down and be miserable... but she could no longer and she uncurled slowly and rose to her paws. Now what? Her sad blue eyes stared down at her two small paws as she felt no pull to do anything. No pull except for the one at her gut and that's what finally got her to go. With a sigh she headed off in a direction, not knowing where exactly it was taking her just that she was going. Her head was carried low and her tail dragged the ground as she went through several tunnels and finally came upon Eridanus, the place where she'd received the scar on her chest. Great... more bad memories... The lioness just kept walking and walking, following the invisible pull at her claws that would likely stop her when prey was to be found. Except, she never found prey because she heard a voice. His voice. She stopped dead in her tracks with her head lifted, eyes widened and pupils drawn into shocked slits. Majesty! Were the arcane powers leading her here to torment her? Had she not had enough with the vision itself, the guilt, and the dreams? No. Perhaps she hadn't. She couldn't go to him, she just couldn't! She had to get out of here! In her rush to turn and go she didn't see Amaria though the cub was in clear view. All she saw was the wolf, nothing but the wolf and the exit as her head turned in that direction so prepared to spring away. words: 386

Amaria nearly jumped out of her fur when a sudden voice caught her attention and in a split second she thudded against the ground on her back. Luckily for her, however, she had only been a few more steps before she would have had her paws on the ground. A sigh escaped her, but soon she rolled over and pushed herself up to her paws while turning curious blue eyes to the new stranger. He was weird. He wasn't a cat. Or a bear. So what was he? She sniffed thoughtfully as she moved closer while he spoke. Introducing himself as Majesty and that he was partially blind. That confused her instantly and she stopped and tilted her head to the side thoughtfully. It seemed like the term should be familiar to her, but she just couldn't place it. A soft frown marred her features as the mood of this canine quickly deteriorated into a fowl one. "I'm sorry..." Her ears fell back as she studied the look of anger that now radiated off of him. She wasn't sure why, but she felt sad for him. She didn't know him, or even knew what he was, but he was upset and she didn't like seeing it. She had never felt the emotion herself, but it sure didn't look pleasant. "I'm Amaria" She introduced herself as she curled her tail along her side. "Are you okay? Maybe she could try and cheer him up and lighten his mood. Maybe she would have a new friend to play with. She didn't want to see him upset either way. She inched closer, lifting a paw to gently press against Maj's leg as if to offer a soothing gesture. She had spotted his gem instantly against his chest. It sure was pretty. At the signs of movement however, her eyes quickly jumped over as her ears pressed forward. When she saw the cub a broad grin instantly shot across her features. "Maky!" She cried out happily, very unaware that the lioness had been trying to make a get away. She jumped to her paws insantly and rushed over to the lioness and bumped against her side. "You're here! Hi! What you doing? I just met this new friend. Do you know?" She blabbered on for a long moment as she finally looked her big sister over. It was only then that she took note of the sadness in her eyes and her brows furrowed. She was sad too? She looked over at Majesty before back at Makyna. She nearly whined to herself at all the sadness that was suddenly surrounded her. She quickly moved closer to Makyna, nuzzling her head beneath Ky's chin as she tucked close. "You okay sissy? Why you u'set?" She murmured as she looked up at Makyna with a similar frown she had given Majesty only moments ago. RE: Curiosity killed the...mouse? - Majesty - Jun 08 2015 Majesty flinched when the cat fell with a thump onto her back. “Sorry,” he said. “I didn’t mean to frighten you.” But she seemed to get up okay, and sniffed at him curiously, so he figured she couldn’t be hurt. He made sure to hold still so that she could study him properly, and gave her a smile to show that he was friendly. This was definitely making him feel like his old self again, and it made him happy… Even though two seconds ago he had been in a bad mood. Well, he was apparently experiencing mood swings. Ugh. When the cat apologized as she looked him over, and he watched her ears go back against her head, he went right back to being put out. But at the same time now he felt bad. Why couldn’t he just pick an emotion? She introduced herself as Amaria, and then asked him if he was okay. She scooted forward a little, pressing her paw against him, and he couldn’t help but flinch. Because now he was reminded of Makyna. He turned his head away, backing up a little so that they were no longer touching. He didn’t want to be reminded of – ”Maky!” Amaria suddenly cried, and she sounded happy about it. Maky? Majesty questioned in his mind, turning to see who she was now looking at – Oh God, it was Makyna. Of course it was Makyna. Why wouldn’t it be? Well, this was just awkward as hell. As Amaria began her one-sided conversation with the lioness, Majesty stared at her across the space, swallowing hard over and over again, mouth having gone dry. What was he going to do? Run? Flee? Hide? No. No. He was going to play it cool. He refused to let this bother him. He couldn’t keep exploding or running away at every little thing. No, he had to be cool. Slowly, on shaking legs, he walked over to her, completely forgetting that Amaria was still there. “Hello, Makyna,” he said slowly, voice trembling a little. RE: Curiosity killed the...mouse? - Makyna - Jun 08 2015 All it took was that one "Maky!" and the lioness knew that her little sister was here. How had she missed that? Oh yeah, because she was trying so hard to sneak away. She'd even gotten so far as to bunch the muscles up in her rear legs and unsheathe her claws for more traction with running. All of this preparation eased out when the leopard bounded up to her. Makyna lowered her head instinctively and rubbed her cheek against the smaller feline's head but there was no emotion behind the action. It was done because she was used to doing so. She wished she could get behind the action but she couldn't. Her mind just wasn't in it, it was with the wolf in front of her. Even when she spoke her voice held hardly any emotion except for nervousness and guilt. "Hey, Mia, I'm glad you made a new friend. That's great..." Make sure you treat him nice... Because it's easy to lose them. This part she didn't say out loud, it was saved in her mind. "Hello, Majesty..." Speaking to him caused a fresh wave of guilt to twist in her belly and when she glanced to the side at Amaria the lioness attempted to smile at her but it didn't reach her eyes. "Upset? Me? Oh, I'm not upset at all! Don't worry about me..." She tried to make her voice sound cheerful but somehow that just made her sound more pitiful. To try and show just how "not upset" she was the lioness gave a large and obviously fake smile to Amaria. "See? So happy." She couldn't divulge the issue to the younger cat. To burden such a little innocent creature would break her heart even more. words: 292

Amaria was silent. Watching the two exchange a hello. It was odd. She had never seen such an exchange. Weren't they usually suppose to be full of joy? That's all she had experienced in her short time of being alive. But these two...there was just something off. Slowly she looked between the two, trying to figure out what was going on. She may not understand a lot at the moment as she was still learning, but there was definitely something up with this. When Makyna finally turned her attention back to her and half-assed smiled at her Amaria offered a soft, adoring smile in return. It just didn't seem very believable, her words. Though she would not question it. She merely took the moment to bump her head against Makyna's chest affectionately. "Well, you two know each other. No intros needed," She tried to tease the two, desperate to relieve the sudden tense air. She rose to her paws and made a few steps closer to Majesty just so she didn't come across as uncaring considering she had bolted off from where they had previously been chatting. "Are, uh...either of you kinda hungry?" She looked from Majesty over to Makyna and soon right back to Majesty as she now stood between the two. She was hungry. And now that she was not attempting to climb the giant mushroom it was soon coming back to her. Maybe they were hungry too? They could all hunt together. Hopefully? She hoped they weren't hostile towards one another. They definitely weren't coming across as friendly with one another, so Amaria wasn't exactly sure how the two were with each other. Either way she hoped there wouldn't be any fighting. It was just feeling rather awkward around here all of a sudden and now that she thought about it...- Had Makyna been trying to sneak away? Surely not. Surely she wouldn't go running away when she was around? She hoped not. It would make Amaria sad to know Maky didn't want to be around her. Then again...these two were definitely seemingly angery(in Majesty's corner) and sad(in Makyna's corner). RE: Curiosity killed the...mouse? - Majesty - Jun 10 2015 All of Majesty’s attention was on Makyna. Though after a moment he realized he was staring and politely looked away, focusing on some other part of the cave so as not to look rude or anything. He didn’t need or want this to be anymore awkward than it was already. The chocolate wolf was immediately saddened by the lioness’ attempts at convincing her friend that there was nothing wrong. He gave a pained expression, but said nothing, not wanting to add to Makyna’s obviously terrible feelings about the situation. Besides, Majesty felt just as bad as she did. He hadn’t meant to just get up and leave like that when she had found out how he had gone blind. It was just that he had no idea how to handle it. But now she seemed so… traumatized by it. Had he hurt her feelings? Continuing to ignore the leopard (though not on purpose), he cleared his throat and faced Makyna once again. “Listen, I… I’m sorry about what happened. I… whatever you did that made you experience my blinding… It was really hard for me to witness.” He had been about to say ‘hard for me to watch,’ but figured the accidental pun would not have been much appreciated right then. “I didn’t mean to just… run off on you like that. I’m sorry if I hurt your feelings, especially since you were so kind to me. Please forgive me.” He bowed his head low before her, like a true gentleman, waiting anxiously for her response. RE: Curiosity killed the...mouse? - Makyna - Jun 11 2015 How could she be so sad around Amaria? The little cub was just so kind and sweet and darn it that smile! That smile just melted her heart and made her fake one dissipate in shame. This was a creature that loved her without unconditionally and here she was faking smiles at her. The lioness felt like crying and sharing everything that had happened with the little leopard, but she couldn't. Majesty was here and the little one was too young to burden with such problems. So, she just had to blink sadly at the leopard and wish that she could be happier for her sake. "I'm a little hungry... But I'm not sure if I could eat right now..." The lioness mumbled. She felt bad for saying it but really, with all the knots twisted in her gut it would be a miracle if she ever ate again! The lioness glanced sidelong at the leopard. The little one probably wanted to go hunting with her... she did say she would take the girl out to hunt one day and teach her how a lioness did it. Makyna hardly knew how a lioness did it but she had a pretty good idea. Her instincts were quite strong when it came to getting food. "I'll take you out later and teach you how to catch rabbits. If you want." She'd seen a good spot in Pisces where there were plenty of rabbits. If only she could get rid of that awful lump in her belly... Then Majesty began speaking and her ears perked up with interest. He was sorry? "Oh no... You shouldn't be apologizing to me. It was my fault, I... I should have used my powers on you like that. I mean, I was only trying to see where you lived but I should have known my powers would have backfired like that." Truth be told it had been hard for her to witness. Feeling Majesty be blinded through her own eyes had made it almost like a firsthand experience and truly she sympathized with the wolf and completely understood why he was angry with her. "There is nothing to forgive... I am the one who should beg your forgiveness and I shall. Please," Her head dipped down as she bowed to him, humbling herself before the one who was a pack leader. "I am sorry for making you relive such a tragic event. If you would forgive me I will never use my past sight abilities on you again." Her feelings had been hurt but it was nothing compared to what he had gone through. Her feelings would mend but his eyes wouldn't. words: 445

Amaria plopped back on her haunches as she looked between the two. What on Origin was going on? Her head tilted to the side in her confusion and blinked when Makyna made to bow at this canine and give her apologies. Something obviously happened, that Amaria was sure of. She would not ask though because it looked like her sister was really upset about it. Amaria gave a half smile as her ears sat back for a moment. "Ya...later then..." She finally spoke to Makyna who had requested to do some hunting later. Shaking it off she scooted closer towards the Lioness and turned her gaze towards the canine. She didn't know him, just his name and the fact he had moved away when she had placed a paw on her. She had thought she had offended the guy over it and maybe he just didn't like others touching him. She would have to remember that, but for now she would just sit here quietly and watch the two interact. They obviously had some things to work out amongst the other, so she would wait for it to settle before getting in the middle of anything. She looked up to Makyna again, this time a silent question behind her glittering blue eyes. She didn't like seeing her big sister upset and every bit of her wanted to do anything she could to make it all better, but maybe with these two talking out whatever it was they were conversing about would do the trick. |
