singing rocks to the tune of lmfao's shots - Howl - Mar 19 2018

Clambering into the centerpiece of Monoceros, Howl sucked in a big lungful of air. He had literally just left the place, but had already begun to miss the familiarity of roaring wind pounding against his skull. The ensuing headache was totally worth leaving the quiet reverie of Tunnel J, if he said so himself. Running his fingers through the astonishingly still pebbles, he grinned. "Y'hear me Monoceros? Ah'm gon' find yer majeek'le statue piece." With all the confidence in the world, he began to scamper up some smooth stone faces along one wall, wedging his fingers into the crevices between them. Finding himself high above Monoceroes (with a little vertigo, if he was going to be honest, but who cares) he flared his nostrils, first sneezing into the dry air and then inhaling deeply. Taking it all in. Searching for the oddly distinct odor of the statue in the face-tunnel.

Even after a few sniffs, Howl found himself utterly trail-less. Knowing better than to just sit there and keep sniffing like the statue piece could grow legs and move closer, the hybrid set his sights on a nearby ledge. Carefully, he measured the jump between himself and said ledge, scrabbling along its edge as he propelled himself forth. Pulling himself up and perching like a strange gargoyle, Howl inhaled once more.

Try as he might, Howl's search for a trail would come up empty-handed... or, perhaps more appropriately, empty-nosed. Howl would not find anything, and most likely never will, at least so long as he carries on searching this room. There isn't a sliver of scent nor telltale footprint to be found in here, no matter how hard one searches. Or, for that matter, anything that looks out of place.

It's just a room. A windy, but otherwise normal room.

In that moment, it might seem like the howling winds were laughing at howl's misfortune as it whipped up clouds of swirling dust, flinging them rudely at the hybrid's face right as he inhaled. It was a raucous and lonely sound, but nothing out of the ordinary.

Met with relative not-success, Howl pursed his lips and hooted into the wind, frustration creeping up his spine. Of course he'd have to go further than home to find this dumb rock of rocks. It's not a small world, after all. As he clambered down the shelves, the hybrid contemplated a search in Canis. The bone pit was close, but not too close. Y'know? Hopeful, he scampered into that direction.
