my time has come - Nyx - May 03 2015
"Wake up, Nyx, emerge." A voice called forth to the Neonate, even though it was only in the unborn creatures mind. As if it had to react to the order, the Neonate stretched and groaned within its chrysalis. The material began to move, cracks emerging in the shell that had protected the creature from any danger. A tiny brown head was the first thing to break through the chrysalis, the newly "born" animal opening its mouth to take a large gasp of air. As its lungs filled, a new sort of strength awoke in the Gembound and it moved its long, wobbly legs to break more of the chrysalis. The shell broke and the creature lay within its remains. The blue gem between its shoulder blades was glowing lightly, but the Gembound could neither see nor feel it. The animal that had emerged from the chrysalis was a Fallow Deer. It opened its charcoal black eyes and blinked in the dim light. A sudden noise had the fawn shrink into itself. Only now did she notice the river running through the cave by her side. The noise was familiar, she'd been listening to it for a long time. The fawn's tiny pink tongue crept out, sweeping over ebony lips and a nose of the same color. Where was she? Head turning around, there wasn't much to see for the fawn in the dim light. Only the crystals and plants gave off an eerie glow and illuminated the cave, but even their light had its limit. "Listen to me." RE: my time has come - Majora - May 04 2015 Locked inside a jagged womb of rainbow moonstone, colorful fumes of glowing light would flit and bob around in warm darkness every now and then causing the black creature contained within the stone walls to rumble in simple childish jubilation. This was the neonate's entertainment for the entirety of the time it had been forming and it knew no other. It stayed restrained, a haunting voice kept breathing a single word without end inside its mind. Majora. No matter how that one word repeated nonstop it would somehow never grow annoying nor nauseating to the creature of the womb. Then the voice abruptly stopped and silence replaced it for quite some time but the neonate wasn't aware of such a fickle concept. It had no track of time, no time span. It was patiently awaiting for the voice to return but sudden ear-shattering screaming took the voice's place. It possessed the black creature within the chrysalis to violently jerk and twist against the tight, chocking walls of the stone until they were forced to crack open and shatter. A kind of amniotic fluid spewed with the crashing rainbow moonstone fragments and eventually a dark creature that resembled the cave's darkness would flow with all the sticky, gooey innards of what was once its womb. It was nothing now, just a pitiful black shape caught in the moss nest that had surrounded the chrysalis. The newborn youth had a short moment to part its jaws so it could take a breath before an overwhelming sadness unfolded. It didn't dare whine, squeal or scream but tears flowed freely from its spheres of voids. Long, gangly limbs it didn't know what to do with curled around themselves until it formed a constrictive ball. It knew of only the warm comfort and safety of its chrysalis's walls but now it knew of nothing. The creature wanted to scream and to thrash but it couldn't. All of it was too much to take in, being in this new world. RE: my time has come - Nyx - May 04 2015
While Nyx was young and her mind was still like a blank canvas, ready to be painted by other animals - friends and foes alike -, smells, sounds and sights, there were certain instincts the fawn already knew how to use. For example her reaction to loud and/or sudden noises. Later Nyx would learn how hard it was to overcome instinct but for now, she simply accepted the fact that when she heard something shatter, her insides felt like shock-frosted veggies and her charcoal eyes widened in utter surprise. Not far from her own blue chrysalis, another rested in the darkness of the cave. It was made from rainbow moonstone and shattered, a dark-pelted being lying in its remains. A curious hum escaped Nyx as she overcame her shock and sniffed into the direction of the cowering stranger. Nyx did not yet know the meaning of tears, but something within her told her that the way in which the other creature curled into itself was not an act of happiness. "Mh?" She hummed, tiny head stretched towards the canine. Both curiosity and sympathy made the fawn move towards the stranger, the latter winning over as Nyx nuzzled into the pup's fur with her snout. Somehow, she felt like that act would help. Later, she would describe it as an act meant to be comforting. "Listen to me." RE: my time has come - Majora - May 04 2015 This world wasn't like its womb. This world was wet, cold and most of all completely foreign. It caused the little wolf's balled up body to shake in the damp moss bed on the cave floor. The chrysalis's shattered remains of moonstone still clung to its soaked black hide, trying to shine and reflect its own rainbow colors even with the dim light produced by the glowing bed of moss and roof of luminescent fungi. Clop. Clop. Head tucked tightly to its soggy chest, sounds told the youth that it wasn't exactly alone in this new world and a feeling was attempting to warn that something was coming closer. These noises were unfamiliar to the dark creature and without a clue as what to do, it remained in its position, curled into an awkward, shaking ball of wet fur and matted limbs. Then the clopping ceased and it could feel a presence now more than ever. It waited in trembling agitation, black eyes closed and body shrinking with extra force. Suddenly it was touched and through erratic breathing came forth a surprised gasp. Young, developing muscles shortly convulsed with so much grand severity that it caused the wolven creature to pop lose of what it thought was a solid ball shape of impenetrability. "Eep!" Whatever the other being was doing left a funny sensation running into and out of its pelt and though it was unsure of how it felt about what was being done to it, at least there came no hurt, no pain. This sensation was also considerably better than the emotion it had experienced earlier. With dark threads prickling, it finally decided to stir and shift up as best as it could. The wolf's long hind legs jutted outwards as it turned towards the new presence and with a tilt of its head it would mimic. "Mmh?" RE: my time has come - Nyx - May 05 2015
Nyx hadn't meant to surprise the young gembound like that. She thought the noise of her hooves would be loud enough to alert the other of her presence. Now the fawn could only hope the pup wouldn't hate her for it. For now, it looked like they didn't and that brought a smile to the doe's face. "Me Nyx." She introduced herself with a soft, careful voice. Nyx couldn't risk startling the pup again. The way in which the young gembound was sitting looked funny and Nyx couldn't help but giggle. It's hindlegs were stretched out, away from it and it slumped a little forward this way. The doe couldn't really explain it, she just thought it looked funny. "You?" The fawn asked, still wearing her small smile. Why did this pup look so sad? Nyx didn't understand why this gembound wasn't happy that it had emerged. There was a whole new world waiting for them, wanting to be explored! And delicious smells to follow, curious sounds to listen too and interesting things to be seen! How could one not be happy then? "Listen to me." RE: my time has come - Majora - May 05 2015 Teary eyes blinked to focus on its surroundings, before looking back in the direction of the strange creature presently standing before it. This was all new. It looked the little doe up and down, noticed how her charcoal colored eyes held emotion it had yet to have a name for. It found enjoyment for her eyes, liked how even in the darkness they glittered with emotion. When a line curved upwards on her snout the pup almost wanted to do the same but it only sat open mouthed while its own dark eyes observed the world around it. "Nyx." The shadowy pup repeated it, titling its head to the other side, slowly understanding the meaning behind what she said. Then she let out a noise that made its eyes widen and a small ear flick. It felt like it should move, muscles tensed while it got to its wobbly legs and took a step forward, closer to Nyx. Its instincts told it to stretch out a nose to sniff before continuing any further however. The little doe gave off a sweet scent that was calling to it. More new words flowed into its ears and in time it knew what the other wanted. "Majora." The youth replied with the one word it had known all this time. It made sense when its mouth moved over what was constantly spoken within its chrysalis. The name felt right. The air bouncing off Majora's soaked pelt was cold now, too cold for it to stand and Nyx appeared dry, warm. Its paws moved on its own, shaky body lowering and huddling next to the stranger for her body heat. "Brrrrr. Cold." The two were now an entanglement of youthful threads and it wondered what look she would have on her face, head angling so it could look at her. RE: my time has come - Nyx - May 06 2015 When their black eyes met, Nyx saw something like wonder in the pup's eyes. It wasn't quite the right word for it, but it was the only one the doe had for the canine's expression. With their eyes starring at Nyx looking somewhat lost and their mouth open (Nyx could see their pearly white teeth ready to use - sharper than her own). "Yes!" Nyx cheered and nodded when the pup said her name. The doe watched curiously as the pup got up on its shaking legs and wobbled towards her. She stayed still, waiting while the black-pelted gembound took in her scent. Majora was the pup's name and Nyx' smile brightened before she repeated it. "Majora." She said, feeling the name roll over her tongue. It looked like Majora was shivering and before the fawn could offer to warm them up, the pup moved into Nyx' warmth on their own and cuddled into the doe's short, beige fur. When Majora turned its head to look at Nyx, the doe simply smiled and nuzzled its snout into the fur of the pup's neck, enjoying the wolf's unique smell. "Nyx warm." She murmured into the black pelt, sighing happily. "Make Majora warm too." Nyx promised, because she was very comfortable whilst sharing her body-heat with Majora. The other's pelt was longer and thicker than her own, although not by much (that would change whilst they grew older), yet it was softer and Nyx imagined how well she would sleep encased in Majora's warmth. "Majora alone too?" It was obvious that there was no one else present that could belong to the pup, but Nyx felt like she need to ask. Maybe the pup knew of someone who'd come to take care of them, because the fawn wasn't sure what to do now. She'd emerged like the mysterious voice had told her to, but what now? "Listen to me." RE: my time has come - Majora - May 06 2015 As Majora peered up at Nyx they were able to see her smile shining brightly even in the darkness that enveloped the two beings, alighting the wolven creature's soul of youth with more new emotions. Now the two were a mass of darker and lighter fur huddled together to warm each other, basking in the pleasant heat of fur and flesh. The tiniest bits of its chrysalis that managed to break away from larger pieces clung to wet downy fur, prickling when Nyx nuzzled the black strands with a snout. A feeling went aflutter in the quiet pup's chest as she did so, certainly a sensation that was the best it had experienced since it broke out of its stone womb. Much better than the the tears that had leaked from their eyes and the horrible hurt it felt earlier. When the two feelings were compared, Majora much preferred the fluttery one that was being produced in their chest. "Warm, yes. Nyx has warm smile too!" It squeaked its mind freely, letting her know what it thought of the smile she showed to it. She had such a warm smile. "Alone..." Upon what Nyx asked it pondered. Alone. It recited the word in its mind, head angled up to take in the ceiling while it entered into a thoughtful trance. What was being alone? Was being alone the sadness it felt earlier? Heart simply clenching at the sound of the word brought a frown to its face. "Not alone with Nyx, no." The quiet pup answered before looking back down and trying to gently push its own dark snout into the little doe's neck to return her nuzzle. Then, its eyes would widen to catch her sizable stone lying between her shoulders. "Whoa. What dis?" Majora inquired with ferocious curiosity, wondering what it was and what value it had to Nyx by being there. RE: my time has come - Nyx - May 08 2015
Nyx was - from the second she's emerged - a happy and friendly being. It filled her with joy to see that she could bring happiness to others as well. Comforting others would turn out to be one of the doe's greatest skills. It may be because of her soothing voice and fragile stature that she appeared to have a calming aura or maybe just because she had a way of finding the right words when needed, but Nyx was very glad that she had this talent. A blush blossomed under the fawn's fur when Majora called her smile warm. Others might have just laughed or whatever, but for Nyx it was a compliment. Majora didn't seem to know what alone meant, though before Nyx could explain, they were able to grasp the meaning of the word. Nyx' smile widened and she burried her head further in Majora's neck, trying to hide her blush - not that anyone would be able to see it under her fur, but oh well. "Yes, Majora not alone. Majora has Nyx." The doe added, feeling a flutter in her stomach. She already really liked Majora. When the pup looked at Nyx back and asked her what it was that she had there, the doe was puzzled. Was there something on her back? Maybe some parts of her chrysalis still clung to her fur. Nyx turned to look at her back, catching a glimpse of something. Despite her long neck, the fawn couldn't see more of the blue thing because it rested between her shoulder-blades. "Hm." Nyx hummed, thinking about what the thing could be. Without standing up, she shook herself a little, trying to get the thing to fall off. It didn't. When Nyx looked at Majora again, she noticed a small stone under the pup's eye. At first, she'd thought it was a broken piece of the canine's chrysalis, but this piece looked different. "Majora has stone too." Nyx said and moved closer to the wolf's face to lick over the gem under her eye. "There. Is beautiful." The gem under the pup's eye was truly beautiful. It was tear-shaped and shimmered, even in the darkness surrounding them. "Listen to me." RE: my time has come - Majora - May 09 2015 Majora was definitely impressed with how far Nyx could turn her neck when she spun it around to see what it was talking about. The little pup watched with widened voids as she gave a hum before the stone on her shoulders were shook yet it did not fall off and instead stayed in its place, clinging to her with the same amount of life as it had before. After her failure to get the stone off she pointed out that it had a stone as well. Eyes shifted as it finally realized there was a glow emanating from its right cheek. Yet it could not see its own stone and felt an emotion of let down mixed with raging curiosity. It gave a tiny huff, beating a tail on the cave floor. Majora's disappointment for not being able to see its stone was stifled by Nyx giving its cheek a kiss, pink tongue drawn over the rainbow moonstone below its eye. "Oh." The shadowy pup slightly shivered in the doe's warmth, able to feel the new and strange sensation of a tongue for the first time. This sensation was enjoyable despite tickling briefly. Lips curled upwards into what was smile when Nyx complimented their stone by calling it beautiful. "Majora like Nyx's. Pretty and blue." Majora returned her compliment, remembering the colorful fumes of their chrysalis. The youth would describe the stone between her shoulder blades for her but they wanted her to do the same for them. "Nyx know what color is Majora's?" The young canine inquired, head burying in Nyx's hide. |
