Jest Saying Hello! (March OTM Winners + Surprise) - Origin Cave - Apr 01 2018 March OTM Winners + A Festive Surprise! March OTM Winners! A big congratulations to our Character of the Month: Gypsy; our Pair of the Month: Blackberry and Blueberry; our Thread of the Month: From Hell I Emerge, Victorious; and our Member of the Month: Willow! The OTM information page will be updated shortly when we finish writing blurbs. Skar has won our Monthly Draw for the Mutation Slot. Festive Surprise! Something has left behind a whole cluster of gleaming, colorful gem eggs in the Magicka Shop! You have TWO DAYS to pick up your egg before they disappear from the nest! We will not be sending eggs out, you must collect the egg yourself! You may collect only one per character! When the eggs hatch in a few days, they will be replaced with whatever was inside!! (And therefore, no longer able to be "purchased"!) [OPTIONAL] A mysterious pile of eggs has appeared in Polaris. Your character may choose to participate IC in collecting their egg from the pile here! Otherwise, just picking it up from the Magicka Shop is assuming they have collected it from this pile. Using the spell will ultimately "do nothing" as the eggs cannot break, do not have a scent, are immune to magic, etc. If you roll a 1, maybe your egg is just... not as impressive as the other ones. If you roll a 20, you probably have a very impressive egg—the most impressive!!! But unfortunately, any and all rolls really mean nothing. RE: Jest Saying Hello! (March OTM Winners + Surprise) - Game Master CJ - Apr 03 2018 What's this? The egg you picked up from that strange pile is starting to shimmer and pop with sparkles! It's shaking and emitting a dazzling array of lights!! Is it... is it hatching!? It is!!! It rocks back and forth, spins around, spews forth prisms of light and shine before cracking open to reveal.... A fabulous banana! But you don't know it is a banana. You have never seen a banana! This strange and long yellow fruit is sparkling and gleaming right in front of you. (Something tells you this is a fruit...) It smells so tasty and sweet! If you are curious about this thing, might you return to where you found the egg? ... Ahh, but there are no more eggs, just the remnants of the the nest and white.. feathers? Long petals? Fur? And very large clawed footprints (you can barely fit like, three whole wolves curled up in just one!), as if whatever had laid the eggs had come back to check on the nest. Eating the banana seems like a risk... but wow!! So tasty! It gives you an amazing boost of natural energy! And it's a magical banana, a fabulous banana! Eating this banana makes you radiant and shimmer with sparkles for a short time—and what's more, you can gain the ability to summon more of them at your very will! Wow! A few weeks ago... He patted the side of the wooden cart, running his gloved hand along its aged edge as he neared the front. The horses were geared and ready, snorting and waiting. They were good to him, old mares now, but equally his as he was theirs. He regarded the closest idly. They knew this trip to the market town easily by now, which he was more than grateful for... he definitely dozed off on the road. The sound of some clumsy boy behind him had him turning his head, his fist knocking against the driver's bench. "Come on, son. You've finished packing everything?" he rasped. An aged smile creased his lips when he heard a grunt of a reply. "I just loaded the last crate of fish," called the other from behind the cart, who skirted around the side and jumped into the bench eagerly. "Ready to go." "Good, yeah. Got all the villagers' things, yea?" He didn't doubt the boy. He was quite proud of him, really. Raised him well. "Of course," groaned his son, slouching into the cart for the long ride ahead. Their cart lurched as the horses started forward, the morning sun just rising in the distance. Somewhere along the way, the cart went over a nasty rock in the road that bumped their belongings quite roughly! A sealed crate that had been placed pretty lazily on the top was knocked off, and fell into a crack hidden by thick strange ferns beside the road. The crate fell a long, long distance, all the way into a deep weird cave. It shattered upon impact, but was hidden in a secluded area, its contents bunched together in their fruit-bundle. They would have been left to rot away in secret in this strange unknown place, but something found them... *** White body long and large, the dragon's nose picked up the curious scent by happenstance. It followed this trail to an unsuspecting place, uninhabited mostly. Craning his head downward, he struggled to focus his glowing blue eyes on such small objects; but they smelled so good! Sparks of lightning rippled across his body as excitement flooded through him. Was this a tasty treat and could he eat it? His tongue carefully wrapped around the entire bunch of bananas, scooping them into his mouth where he chomped on them all at once, peel and fruit. AND! They were tasty! He could eat them! He immediately snapped up the rest of the banana bunches, but they were gone all too quickly. What had they been! He did not know! The smell of the tiny splinters around them was unfamiliar to him as well, but grassy and warm. He glanced upward at the shiny shimmering crack of distant sunlight that peeked at him from high above, a distant place he would never reach. Had this fallen from the beyond? He had to recreate it. He wanted to share the delicious thing. He would figure out how. *** "Did you pack those bananas!?" he barked angrily, hunched over the crates and supplies they were unpacking from their cart and setting up within the market. "Huh!? Yea! 'Cause you said they would sell for a lot!" came the distant response, but his aged ears heard it. He shook his head though. The bananas were definitely not here. "Fray, you guys brought bananas this time?" someone had asked from the crowd, and several other people had stopped to stare at the man and the boy. He simply waved them off. What had happened to the bananas!!? They were going to be such a treat! Ga'dammit, he cursed to himself, shrugging a crate of fish into the crook of his arm. What was he gonna tell that snappy lady when they returned, how they lost her freaking bananas? "Ya better sell a lot of fish, boy," he warned. "An' pay for those bananas." RE: Jest Saying Hello!
