Why's it so dark in here? (Hatching) - Yoosung - Apr 05 2018
Suddenly, he existed.
Before, there had been nothing. The Gemling had been unaware, unknowing of the existance of his own body. Of paws, slowly growing larger, claws forming. Of ears, growing bluntly pointed. Of eyes, forming behind closed eyelids.
It was only when he grew as such that his shoulders pressed against the gleaming yellow Chrysalis, pressing against something in his curved neck that shot a blast of pain through him. And that was the first thing he felt: pain.
The pup whined, and squirmed, each movement sending pain shooting through his neck. His little paws battered against the Chrysalis, and finally broke free. The Chrysalis more or less shattered, dumping a little orange puppy on the ground. It whimpered, shaking its head as it tried to force its eyes open, the pain, thankfully, vanishing.

Nearby, another chrysalis lay, its inhabitant growing. The whimpers of the other gembound made it through the walls of the chrysalis, and reched the creature's ears inside. The Gembound's eyes flew open, and it lashed out against the walls of it's home. The large paws easily crashed through the walls of the rock, allowing the pup to spill out onto the ground, a large mass of fur.
But the pup was not just fur. She was a living creature that wanted to help the whimpering thing. She shook the slimy stuff that was inside her chrysalis and looked around, black eyes peering around in the brightly lit room. She soon saw the source of the cries, a smaller orange pup on the ground.
The bigger black canine rushed over to who she already wanted to be a friend, looking down at it warmly, a kind smile gracing her features. Well, as best of a smile as she could manage. Her gem caused her to have an underbite, and it hurt to do most things.
”Are yoush okay? Do yoush needs help?” The larger puppy asked, her gem causing her to have to say words strange in order to not hurt herself.

Where the other two were hatching, there just so happened to be yet another stone. A glowing red sunstone, sprinkled with little glistening flames. Within, a scrawny white bird was curled, dreaming of so much, so many great things. He dreamed of fire and glory and the cheering of crowds. It put a smile on his face and he stretched out his wings, as if to show them off gloriously. But something barred his way. He frowned and tried again, but his wings bumped futilely against the side of the gem.
His eyes were not open yet. He was still hatching, still in he shell. But he wanted out, now! He wanted to be within that crowd, soaking in their cheers, their happiness. He wanted to be the one they loved!
But he was stuck here, trapped in darkness of which he was unaware.

He was so confused!
The pup whimpered, sniffing the air as he tried to figure out what was going on. Before he'd been comfortable squeezed, feeling safely confined. But now he was out in the open, and he felt wet, and cold, and scared.
The shock of a loud crackling sound made his ears unfold, and they twitched, hearing a soft thudding sound. His eyes unsealed, opening to reveal a pair of rich brown eyes, although oddly the pupil on one seemed bigger than the other.
The pup sat up in a wobbly way, tilting his head as he got used to seeing. And then he became aware of something in front of him, and the sound of its voice clued him in that it was sentient. His eyes widened, and his jaw dropped, before he blurted out "와우! 당신은 거대하다!"
His eyes went down, taking in the sight of her lower jaw. It looked painful, and he whined quietly. "그 상처는?" The poor little pup didn't understand a word the other was saying.
His ears twitched, hearing a funny thumping sound. His head tilted, and he asked, "그것은 무엇이었는가??"

The pup didn't wait long for a response, but when she got one, she wasn't sure what the other said. It sounded kinda like another language she knew, way somewhere in blurry memories that she couldn't quite remember. The pup opened her massive maw, wondering if she ould perhaps speak to him somewhat.
That is, until she heard a strange thumping. She turned her head and stood quickly for a creature of her size. The mastiff puppy looked back to the other newly hatched canine and spoke. "我们去检查一下."" Meinu told the pup efore running off to the thing.
When she got there, she saw yet another chrysalis! The pup nudged it softly, hoping whatever was in it would be okay.
That is, until she heard a strange thumping. She turned her head and stood quickly for a creature of her size. The mastiff puppy looked back to the other newly hatched canine and spoke. "我们去检查一下."" Meinu told the pup efore running off to the thing.

The bird inside was unaware of the other two outside of its shell. In fact, it was unaware of everything. All it knew was that it couldn't stretch its wings and that was getting frustrating, fast. With an indignant snap of its beak, it struck out again with its wings, this time hearing a cracking sound. Triumphant, it struck again and again, adding its tiny feet into the mix until, finally, its fought its way out of its shell.
Its eyes were still closed and it didn't see the bright light in front of it, but it certainly heard the yapping of two creatures in front of it. They were saying...something. It didn't understand a word. In fact, it didn't quite understand speech at all just yet. But it wanted to communicate back, to announce its arrival in some way. It wasn't going to let them have all the fun.
It opened its beak and after a second, it let out a terrible, scratching squeak as it tried to holler back at the two dogs that it couldn't see in front of it. It closed its beak and raised its head, proudly, for some reason.

The pup tilted his head as he looked up at the larger Gemling, wondering what was going on. He'd been in the dark, and then there had been light. The pup had been alone, but now there was another here. For some reason, he felt she was similar, although he'd never seen himself before. But he had to tilt his head back to look her in the face, despite some instinct telling him no, don't meet her eyes. That would be a very bad idea.
Thankfully, it seemed the other heard the thumping noise as well, and for some reason that made him feel better. She heard it, too, so it had to be real, right? The chubby little puppy tilted his head, trying to figure out what she was saying. It sounded similar, like his own tongue, and yet the understanding was just out of grasp. However, actions spoke much louder than words, so he was quick to stumble to his feet, toddling after the larger pup. He didn't want to be alone!
The foreign pup looked at the chrysalis, watching the other interact with it. What was that? It felt familiar, and he tilted his head from side to side. Was something inside?
There was a loud thumpthumpthumpthumpthumpCRACK, and he squeaked, tumbling back onto his butt. As he watched, something small and fluffy toppled out of the thing. He stood, slowly, tilting his head and looking between the other Gemlings. One was rather large and fluffy, with dark fluff. The other was small, somewhat smaller than him, he felt, with white fuzz, and something funny on top of its head.
Rather alarmed by its squeaking, he whined quietly, asking, "그 소음은 무엇인가? 당신은 좋은가? 당신은 무엇인가? 당신은 푹신하다, 너무." He wobbled forward, leaning forward to sniff the little thing's head.

Meinu grinned as the little creature inside the other chrysalis pooped it's head out and triumphantly squaked. It wasn't that hard for her, or the other Gemling it had seemed, but it was still an acheivement nonetheless.
"祝贺小事! 我是美奴, 你是?" She asked, her voice excited. It hurt to speak, but not as much as it did the other language. The words flowed more easily for the large Tibetan this way.

The little bird thought they would be impressed by his terrible squealing. Instead, they continued to squabble in some kind of language that he couldn't understand in the slightest. Fury burned in his eyes as he looked between the two angrily. Why weren't they speaking to him normally.
Angry, he threw back his head and screamed again, this time the air shimmering with heat as he breathed out magically hot air. Once it was done, he expected the two of them to have gone into a shocked silence, impressed with his display. He was furious.
He flapped his wings indignantly. He wanted them to communicate with him! He didn't want to just sit here and act like he knew what was going on, he wanted to ACTUALLY know what was going on. His eyes were blazing as he continued to turn from one dog to the other, not caring that both of them were considerably bigger then him.

Yoosung looked down at the small, fluffy white bird-thing, tail wagging. The tubby puppy smiled at the baby bird, tongue lolling out in a friendly manner. It was cute! Kinda! In an ugly sort of way, all messy fuzz. Unfortunately, however, it seemed rather angry.
The pup squeaked, stumbling back and falling on his butt as the little bird threw its head back, releasing a breath of hot air. He stared at it, clearly stunned, before sneezing loudly, nose twitching. What had that been?
The bird shrieked loudly, angrily, and Yoosung tilted his head, trying to figure out what it was saying. Finally, he settled for echoing "Saying!" cheerfully, clearly thinking he was helping.
