Life... finds a way - Catalyst - Apr 26 2018 Chrysalises were all different. One might be long and jagged, crystals growing out of the ground. Another might be shaped like a cocoon, clinging to the wall. Others might dangle from the ceiling, threatening to drop their contents upon hatching. But this one, one wouldn't blame for mistaking it for a large egg. It was about as big as a house cat, and was oval in shape. It sat on the ground, on its side. It was an odd white color, made of Beryllonite, with a rough texture. Like a hatching egg, it began to jerk. Something inside was trying to get out, that was obvious. There was a loud scraping sound, and the side began to crack. Finally, a piece broke off of the side, not nearly large enough for the creature inside to break free. Through it, one could make out a scaly, green-grey hide. The being inside began to shift, and the hide move. Suddenly, the view of the hide would be replaced by a large, golden eye, with a feral glint and a slit pupil. RE: Life... finds a way - Glory - Apr 26 2018
Glory was wandering, practicing his flying. He was getting angrier and angrier because no matter how hard he tried to get himself into the air, it just wouldn't work! His feathers were still puffy and white and too heavy to use his stubby little wings. But he would not give up! He would succeed! tags: @Catalyst notes: RE: Life... finds a way - Catalyst - Apr 27 2018 The large, golden eye glistened, the pupil darting this way and that. It slid down to focus on the ugly little baby bird standing in front of its egg, taking in the sight of it. It was small, covered in white fuzz, with a red thing on its head. What was it? Oddly, it felt some sort of kinship with it. The little fuzzy thing yelled... something, before squatting, then throwing itself at its captor. The eye closed in preparation for a strike, revealing brown skin, only to open again when it felt an impact on its Chrysalis. The little thing toppled to the ground with an off, before addressing it again. The eye closed, and then vanished, as the creature inside began to struggle, the Chrysalis jerking as she attempted to fight her way free. Finally, with a last flex of her muscles, the Chrysalis shattered. An odd looking creature was crouched where the Chrysalis had been. It looked reptilian, in a way, with a wedge-like head that seemed far too large for her body. A whip-like tail shot out from her oddly-shaped torso, tapering at the end. Large, reptillian golden eyes shined with a dull-intelligence. Her skin was mostly brown, and her Gem, a bright blue, replaced the middle talon on her right foot. Blinking, the creature stood up, revealing odd, scrawny arms with three taloned-fingers. Her tail unfurled from under her, and she tilted her head back and forth, turning so that one of her wide-set eyes could focus on the bird in front of her. Opening her mouth, she revealed a jaw-full of sharp, needle-like teeth, and chirped at Glory inquisitively. @Glory RE: Life... finds a way - Glory - Apr 27 2018
Glory watched proudly as the creature burst from its shell. He gave no thought as to the creature's strange appearance, nor did he care that it was bigger and a lot better looking then him (at the moment). He opened his wings wide and crowed, tags: @Catalyst notes: RE: Life... finds a way - Catalyst - Apr 28 2018 Confusion. Hunger. What was this little kin-thing? It looked like it would taste good, and the beast's mouth watered. But it looked like it would be sharp, and pointy, and uncomfortable going down. Would it fit in its mouth? The beast dropped its jaw, attempting to see if Glory would fit inside it, paying no attention to the little bird's cried words. Turning its head, the beast decided that, if it did manage to fit it in its mouth, it would be uncomfortable going down. Its mouth shut with the clicking of sharp teeth, head tilting to look over Glory. It caused hot air to fly from its beak, and it tilted her head the other way, her own Magicka reacting. It shifted its weight between its feet, and where one foot tapped the ground, small tremors spread out through the ground. Could it speak? How did one do that? Obviously the little bird could do it, but could it? The hatchling attempted to speak, only resulting in a serious of high pitched chirps. @Glory RE: Life... finds a way - Glory - Apr 29 2018
Glory waited for the thing to speak, but there was nothing besides the chirping it had made before. He frowned and narrowed his eyes, hopping closer, taking a closer look at the thing. He had never seen anything like it before so it did not seem particularly weird, as he hadn't really seen much. tags: @Catalyst notes: RE: Life... finds a way - Catalyst - May 01 2018 The reptile tilted her head from side to side, golden eyes glinting as she looked over the fuzzy thing. She didn't know what to make of it, to be honest. It was the first living thing she'd met, the first thing she'd seen after hatching. So there was definitely some sort of attachment, there. But it also looked rather tasty, and she was starting to feel hungry... could she eat it? But it looked uncomfortable to go down, although how she knew that she couldn't say. Feeling the ground, which had previously been sturdy and constant under her talons, begin to tremble, she stepped back, seeing Glory do the same. It seemed... frightened? Was that the right emotion? She didn't quite know what frightened was, but some instinct deep inside her told her it wasn't a good thing. Should she be afraid? However, he suddenly moved his beak in an odd way, and she tilted her head. Happy, was he happy? Did she know what happy was? Magic? So that's what she had, Magic? And, she assumed, so did he, as he had done his own thing, with hot air released from his mouth. And then he did it again, and without thinking, she did the same, releasing pulses of magic from her talons into the ground, feeling it tremble beneath her. She tilted her head back, and hearing him release a loud cry, mouth splitting as she gave her own, pitiful attempt at, what could be generously called, a roar. She met the little creatures' gaze, tilting her head. He introduced himself as Glory, saying they were companions, and evidently she was his brother? The little dinosaur chirruped, making a sound that almost sounded like 'Catalyst'. @Glory RE: Life... finds a way - Glory - May 15 2018
When the reptile reacted, letting its own cry, Glory's heart soared. A true comrade, a worthy brother! Someone with the same fiery spirit as him! He had no idea that the reptile was, in fact, half thinking of eating him and he was completely convinced that he was a stunning role model for the young dinosaur. tags: @Catalyst notes: RE: Life... finds a way - Catalyst - May 15 2018 Catalyst chirped curiously, tilting her head. She didn't know why she had chosen that, it had just come out easily, and it sounded right. She didn't know what a catalyst was, but evidentally that was now her name. Apparently it was strong, whatever that was. Her throat felt funny, scratchy and dry. The reptile swallowed, tilting her head at Glory and chirping plaintively. Could it help her fix that? Her tongue darted out to skim along her 'lips', attempting to wet them. Almost at the same time, her stomach rumbled, and she eyed Glory thoughtfully. @Glory Shitty post is shitty RE: Life... finds a way - Glory - May 15 2018
Glory did notice this time that Catalyst might be hungry. It suddenly struck him that he was small and fuzzy and Catalyst was large with sharp teeth. But it did not scare him, they were brothers! Comrades! Even if Catalyst could not speak, he was certain that they were impressed with him. He would offer to help, help them hunt. tags: @Catalyst notes: |
