fanciful - Ayr - May 22 2018

and you will have my heart for all the time

Ayr's exploration of Polaris continued. The spire and all its lively crackling had been enough to sate her curiosity for a moment, long enough for her to take a rest. Now, however, she awoke, and she was looking around once more with her cloven hooves clicking rhythmically against the cave floor.

First, she looked down the entrance into tunnel N. Seeing the moss covering the walls and the floor had her chest filling with excitement, but for the time being, she refrained from going down it. She could explore that later, after she finished seeing what other sights Polaris had for her.

Next, she came by the crystal river. She stared down at the rushing water for a moment, down the steep incline, for a moment, watching her own reflection as it stared back. Then, a silver fish broke through the water, flailing briefly in the air, before colliding back down in the water.

How strange! How wonderful. Ayr wasn't sure if she had ever seen a fish before, but the thought of something living happily in the water similarly made Ayr happy, if a bit sad that she couldn't see it for herself. "How do you do?" She asked the surface of the water pleasantly, bowing her head down towards it.

The river, of course, did not answer.

Ayr wasn't entirely disappointed. Perhaps it was just hard to hear under there, or perhaps it had already left, startled that it had seen a white foal staring down at it. The unicorn settled herself down by the shores of the river on her belly, staring down.

@Aegir

RE: fanciful - Aegir - May 22 2018

Aegir was in the water this time, wedged between two rocks near the surface, safe the waves of the river. Close enough to the surface so that he could occasionally lift his muzzle, suck i a breath of air, and then bring himself back down to meditate some more. It was calming down here, quiet, completely peaceful. A different kind of experience from meditating on land or simply staring into the water. Here, he felt completely one with the river.

And it spoke to him, as it always did, but in a language he could not divine. In words he could not understand. He could hear it as if it was talking to him, all around, but it would always be beyond his reach. He often did this to try and find a meaning to the words of the water, but he never could, and he never would. Nonetheless, he felt more at ease down here, in the world he had grown and hatched in.

However, a shadow fell across his white fur and, curious, not quite good enough at meditation to escape distraction, he lifted his head above the water. He saw the white horse lean down and greet the water. His eyes widened with surprise. Did the water speak to more then just him? Did this one hear its words as well? He had to know.

He carefully raised his feet so that he was steadied on both rocks and began to rise out of the water, dripping wet, his fur stuck in clumbs under his chin and belly. "Aegir hears words, spoken to the water. Can it be that this one speaks to the river as Aegir does? Can this one see the words in the ripples and splashes and waves? Does it speak to the river?" He climbed onto the bank as he spoke and began softly padding towards the white horse, his head raised curiously.

@Ayr

My voice is speaking...
My thoughts are swirling...
